But this one time, my co-worker's husband yelled at her over the phone, so I don't want to invite him to my dinner party and wedding because they might get divorced and he'll stalk me?

I went to a non-affirmative action school for mechanical engineering, so by graduation there were about 5 girls and 300 guys. They used to love to ask me what we did together. "tell us about sleepovers!" "Tell us about nail salons!" "Tell us about chick flicks!" because they were convinced these were all ways women cover up the fact that we can't stop making out with each other.

[QUOTE]I think MP is going to be in Cincinnati this month. Maybe we could do a mini GTG. DMiller lives half an hour from me, and we frequent the same cake shop. We should totally do candy making classes together. ETA: MIDGE. THIS MEANS YOU.

Lies! I tell them!  I thought that we would come for MLK day, but turns out Matt doesn't get it off.  So now I have to figure out when to come.  I'll definitely be there the beginning of May.  I might even be around when Chrissy does the pig.  But not sure.  I shouldn't make promises any more.
  • Not only did Chrissy bring her own alcohol to my house - she sent it in advance. And holy crap. She hooked us up.
  • Of course, LDY. And Ski, you're just in a travelling mood, aren't you? ;)

BOO, MP! Chrissy and I were going to booze it up after the Pig. She says beer is good after running. I just like beer, and we could go to Hoffbrauhaus and drink tons of it.

Holly, I bring alcohol, too, but I like to sample everyone else's. :)
  • Is the Pig on Sunday?  See I have a family wedding in Indiana on Saturday (the weekend of the Pig), and then I'm in a wedding in the 'Nati on the following Saturday.  My mom and I have toyed with going down for a week for both of them.  Just have to figure out vacation time and among other things.

Good news:  I now get 3 weeks per year!!  YAY FOR FIVE YEARS AT THE COMPANY!
  • I have a random mini flame. I'm just kind of shocked people were surprised Ski kept her last name after her first marriage. People were acting like it was so weird and Nicki said she'd never seen it done before.

Really? I see it done all the time. It's Ski's name now, not her exH's. She can keep it if she wants, or she can change it back to her maiden. Who gives a fuuck? It's not that uncommon. In my experience, it's more common than changing it back.

Hmmmm . . . . that makes it easier.  Definitely go to Hofbrahaus.  Does Kentucky still allow smoking?  Maybe it'll be warmer in May (or you just drink enough) and being outside is okay.

Just get up on the benches and do the Chicken Dance!!!  It's awesome!
  • I didnt see that conversation Special but I agree. My parents got divorced 12 years ago and my mom still has my dad's name.

I didn't see this but my mom was married for over 15 years. She sure as hell was not going to change her name back after all that time, its her name now.

[QUOTE]Ohio hasn't done the smoking ban yet?  Interesting.  Oregon and Wisconsin each have the smoking ban. I wonder what states don't. Edit: Lord only knows where those words came from.

Ohio has, but Kentucky (where the Hofbrahaus is located) had not last I checked.

We're so spoiled up here in Mass, that I forget sometimes.

ETA:  Also, last I checked Indiana had not.  But West Lafayette (where Purdue is) had.   Across the river, Lafayette had not.  We were at a bar in Lafayette and I'm all "WHAT'S THAT SMELL!?!"
  • My mom took a bunch of my brother's friends there for his 21st birthday. He was thrilled I didn't make him sit in the non-smoking section, and he participated in the parade not once, not twice, but THREE TIMES. (We were there for a while.)

My mother also challenged the guys to a drinking contest and regaled us with stories of her time living in Germany.
