Sorry, I wandered. Yeah--I agree it does sound completely contradictory. I think it helps evenly distribute or get rid of some of the oils or something. Plus I like it because I hate the way my hair smells when it's not clean, and conditioning helps. Plus my scalp gets itchy when I don't wash, and it doesn't this way either. It works for me, even though I, like you, also thought it sounded nuts at first.

I pinched my ear in my flat iron instead of my hair. That hurts. When I was little I always wanted to curl my little sister's hair and she'd make me pinky promise to pay her all of my money if I burned her.

i once dropped my curling iron on my nose. that sucked.

i burn my fingertips all the time. cause i wrap my hair around the barrel of an iron rather than clamping it.

That's what I do too, but I burn my fingertips so often in the kitchen that it doesn't really hurt anymore other than a momentary ouchie.

Thanks for believing me, Fishy. I appreciate it. FWIW, my stylist also thought I was a little loony when I told her about it today. Oh well. It works for me!

I burned the SHIIT out of my cheek with a curling iron once. I wasn't paying attention and I was unwinding and it bumped against my cheek. It looked AWESOME.

But I'm TRYING to get better at it. It just...seems like too much work to wear full-on makeup all the time. I'm too lazy to be pretty, I think.

The best I can do is a ponytail. It sucks because every hairdresser I meet says I have great hair for styling. I wish I was more of a girl in that department.

That's the one thing I miss about shoulder-length hair. I loved flat-ironing it. And the protectant I used made it feel soooo silky and look so shiny.

But, I do remember how long it took to dry when it was shoulder-blade length.

LC - I've burned my neck, too. I hit my forehead the most. I also would wet my bangs before curling them, and the hair sizzled. It's a wonder I still have hair left.

My mom currently has one of those curling brush things, but it's her hairdryer, too. Crazy.

I fell into this pool by a waterfall when we were trying to cross the river during this hike in the mountains but and nobody had TOLD ME that we'd be crossing a motherf*cking river and I got my entire black self wet INCLUDING my hurr on the top of a mountain IN THE MIDDLE OF THE GODDAMN RAINFOREST. Noodle laaaaaaughed and I made his punk ass regret that laugh for the rest of the day. And possibly the REST OF HIS ENTIRE LIFE.
