The resort was nice (except my wallet got stolen).  Be careful downtown at night.  The locals like to come up to you and play this "I have more money in my pocket than you do" game and then try to rob you.

However.  I went with my sister and BFF when we were in our early 20's and didnt have the best sense of safety.

Also- if you have a weaker stomach, be careful with the burgers/beef.  There are no cows on that island, lol.

Its a really pretty place.  We were there when the famous yacht race was going on and we got to see all the boats etc.  I wish we had researched a bit more and done some excursions, but again, we were really young and just wanted to party.

  • Hope everything goes well this weekend Acaponi! I am jealous of your vacation/honeymoon. I want to go on vacation SO BAD
  • Morning!

I need to go clothes shopping today for work clothes.  I go in tomorrow to sign the contract and then start orientation next week! Finally.

H and I are also planning to set up a meeting with a realtor in the next couple of weeks to start actually seriously going to look at houses rather than just drive through neighborhoods and look online.  I'm so excited, but a bit nervous too.

I'm jealous.  We're waiting 5 months before we go on ours.  It is going to take forever to get here.

  • Guys I thought this was weird.  Yesterday we got a thank-you card for a wedding we went to last October.  So eight months later.  It said they were going to use the money on their honeymoon in February, so... a year and four months post wedding.

We also got our invitation to our high school reunion.  We can't go because we are busy that weekend but it made me kinda squicky.  It's for a "social hour" at 5:30 on Saturday followed by a 6:30 dinner that we have to pay 15 bucks for.  Then the next day there's a potluck at a local park.  We also are asked to bring five photos of our high school memories and the photos will not be returned.  And there is a big Satan on the invitation.  Donations to the class fund (wtf is this even for) are appreciated.  The chick who is organizing this shindig is the one who's PPD we went to last year that was a massive hot mess and we never got a thank you card for the check we gave them.

I am not sure why I wanted to go in the first place.

  • Thanks for the info Blue. I saw something about those boat races..it sounded really cool but of course it's not going on when we're there.

And I applied for some teller positions yesterday and I got a call for one today! I am so relieved. I just need a damn job.

I just remember the beaches being pretty and the resorts offering some great water sports for a low price.  I would see if you can take a day trip tour of the island.  Go down to where the boats usually dock.  There was some great places to eat downt there and good shops to tool around at.

A guy was trying to organize our 10yr this summer but he ended up ditching the plans cause I think no one was interested. Eff no I'm not going! I don't want to pay to go hang out in the gym at my old highschool, I'm frigging 28 years old. Have it at a bar.

  • I will, however, be going back for Ferry Days, which is basically an all school reunion from where my dad went to school, lol.  The town is basically flooded but people still come back for it.  And we totally have potluck in the old gym.  With a shitton of old people.

    It is awesome.

We're doing a boat day tour of the island I know so that should give us a good idea if we wanna check anything else out. We'll definitely check out the dockyard because I love food haha. We've tried to plan a good amount of "open" days to relax and leave room for stuff we realize we want to do when we get here.

  • I hate everyone from my high school. I have 2 friends left pretty much. Reunions really just don't interest me.

If you go to the Coney Island at like 3 in the morning it's basicallly like a HS reunion.

My friend who just got married, the entire wedding party was hs peeps, and of the guests probably another 20 we hs. That's enough reunion for me.
  • Pretty much every time I go to this one bar at home, it's a HS reunion.  I can see a lot of those assholes any time I want.  Most of them never left.  And ones who did leave, and go far enough away, wouldn't come back anyway.

  • We didn't schedule a 5 year reunion.  I guess someone will probably organize a 10 year, but I doubt I'll go.

I wonder if FI wants to go to his 10 year... it's in 2 years from now.

  • My 10 year is next year. Or the year after? I'm not sure. I doubt I'll go. Unless by then I've started filming my movie or been on Ellen. Then I'd have some ammo against all the a-holes who teased me for wanting to be a writer.

I went to H's 10-year, I think our second year of dating. I had the pleasure of meeting his ex-FI. That was lots of fun.

Most of my RL friends are from highschool, if not elementary. Probably only 15 percent aren't, and about 10 of that 15 percent are friends with people I went to highschool with lol that's what I get for living in my home town.
  • My reunions have been at bars and have always turned into clusterfucks.

Not much has changed since hs.

  • There is no way I would go to a HS reunion.  I still talk to the only people I have an interest in talking to from HS.  I think that's like 2 people.  XH and I were in the same graduating class, which is enough for me to make my decision.  My 10 year is next year, I think.

My mom and sister (the married one) want Ben and I to go so bad.  They still think it's fascinating that we got back together and got married and seem to think if we go to the reunion everyone will just marvel at it or someshit.  It's really quite ridiculous.  Plenty of people that dated in HS got married, ffs.  My sister included.

I kind of want to go to my 10 year next year, just to flaunt that I'm doing so well. I was treated like crap by some on my "friends" my senior year. For me it's about showing them that they didn't get me down and I did well for myself. It's petty, but I want to show off a bit, since I never had anything to show off in high school.

  • I'm going to cutabitch if my coworker/semi-supervisor doesn't quit coming in after I've finished a project to tell me that I did it wrong and have to go back and fix it.  Tell me how you want it done in the first place, FFS!!!  I'm getting real fucking tired of this.

Went to my 20 year reunion, it wasn't bad. Now a bunch of us keep in touch on fb.  Soon after the 20, a guy committed suicide and the guy who jacked off in English class in HS (who is now a bible thumper) decided that we all need to form a support group so if someone is having trouble, they have people to turn to.  We have GTGs once a month.  I don't go a lot because it's a 60 min drive from my house.  Might try for this month's GTG.

That's why I would go. I just need something to show off. But we had such a huge class (at least 600) that I wonder if I'd even know anyone.

My aunt is organizing some kind of band reunion. It's funny seeing pics of her, my mom, and my dad all up in their high school band uniforms. My dad was the drum major and used to do all sorts of acrobats on the field, which is freakin hilarious to think of because that is so not how he is now.
