I just hate the generalizations. Such as with the health care bill (and I'm not quoting anyone on the boards, I'm quoting someone I know on FB), I saw someone write "Anyone who is 26 and needs health insurance can get off their lazy asses and GET A JOB." Really? Does this include people who have two 20-hour a week jobs because they can't get a full-time job? Does this include people who have pre-existing conditions who get denied health care?
When I asked those questions, the answer this person gave me was Yes, to all the above. Anyone who is 26 and can't get health care through work is a lazy asshole.
The idea that there is nothing but THAT ONE VIEWPOINT just infuriates me. Which is why I abstain.

Back from lunch. Please allow me to rage for a second.
One lady is out this week. So I'm doing ALL of her work. Plus mine. Then, 2 days ago, D gives me some of HER work to do. I do it. Today, I need help on some things because they won't fuucking train me. I call over to her cube about 10 till lunch time. She's all 's at lunch right now, please leave a message after the beep'. So I think whatever and I go ahead and take my lunch. I come back and go up to her for help and there she sits with a fuucking Steak N Shake bag, nomming away. I THOUGHT YOU WENT TO LUNCH AN HOUR AGO!
I will have to stay late tonight and she refuses to because she's got to go get her hair done.
RAGE.

It was the context of the question. And the person involved.
Me too Mel. I'm open to what other people think/believe because most of the time it's different than me where I live. It just hasn't ended up well when I've "discussed" with people that tell me A is right, no if ands or buts even though I believe B, so I usually try to avoid that now.
The friend I lost over the political debate wasn't a good friend though, and it was her own fault. She pretty much put the last nail in the coffin. If it was a better friend I don't think I would have ventured down the path we went.
ETA: One of my BM's is about as opposite as me on the political and religious spectrum. We are good friends because we accept each other's difference and love each other anyways. ::cue Reading Rainbow song::

I would think my dad was hilarious if his extreme views on things weren't downright dangerous. Don't get me wrong, I love my dad. I think he's wonderful and he has always been an amazing father and I wouldn't trade him for anything. But ffs, he is militant and belligerent in his beliefs, and some of them are insufferably ignorant. I want to respect him for all of him, not just for a bit of him here and there, you know? It sucks that when you become an adult, you realize that your parents aren't perfect.
I don't know why I've turned this into Daddy Confessional. Sorry, y'all.
