Random Chat

because I don't want to interrupt the other threads ;)

I have a homemaker question. HOW do I clean my freaking dishwasher? I hate that thing so much right now. Nothing comes out clean (and I add Lemishine or vinegar to every load). I called and asked about it, and they said it's just because it's super high efficiency, so the water doesn't get scalding hot. BUT it used to work better. It's not even a year old.  So I'm thinking I just need to de-gunk it. Ideas?

Also, random thoughts for you. Comcast has a new live-chat thing and it's awesome. No wait, and I didn't thave to call and deal with them to set up internet. (yup, I finally switched back, because the 1.5 just isn't cutting it.)

What's going on? Anyone want to share meal plans for the week?

Re: Random Chat

  • Put a cup of vinegar in the top shelf, and fill the pre-wash and the wash receptacles with lemishine, and run an empty cycle, on the hottest wash it can manage.

I used this stuff the last time I had to clean a rental and it worked really well.  I've been thinking about grabbing some and running it through mine as well since I'm noticing less than shiny glassware.  i too use vinegar regularly.

  • Meal plan:
Sloppy joes (found GF tomato soup at Hyvee YES), salad
Grilled chicken with citrus salsa, baked potato, salad
Chicken pita for H, salad for me, with greek dressing and tzatziki sauce
    omelettes and hash browns

  • Stef- no advice, but H is watching golf, and everytime they tee off at this one hole, these guys are yelling "Ron Paul" (or what sounds like Ron Paul).

    H is confused.

  • Good evening. I'm not sure how to clean a dishwasher, maybe try locating the food trap and seeing if there's gunk in there? Baking soda?

Not much going on here, I just finished cleaning the crap out of our house. It feels so good having a clean house. I'm such a neat freak that when the house is messy, I feel out of control and can't sit still. H is still feeling restless/bored, but the basketball game is on, so that's helping.

This is our menu plan for the week:

Sunday - Grilled flank steak with baked sweet potatoes and broccoli/caulifower mix

Monday - Chicken curry with madras lentils and naan bread

Tuesday - Spaghetti with turkey meatballs

Wednesday - Chicken teriyaki stir fry

Thursday - Grilled chicken marinated in garlic, lime and cilantro with brown rice & frozen veggies

Friday - Sage Cafe gift certificate from restaurant.com (it's a raw bar in Hollywood, FL)

  • Hey, all.

I just popped back online after a walk--I'm dead tired.  I'm trying to muster up the energy to maybe go to the movies tonight.

I haven't thought of meals, but I have a pack of ground beef I need to use. Maybe meatballs. We had delicious ones yesterday and I want to try to replicate them.
  • We jjust used our dishwater today for the first time - in 5 years. We've been handwashing and  finally got sick of it.

Right now H is playing a video game and I'm going back and forth between reading and writing.

No meal plans for us. I think I'll be getting a root canal this week so my dinners will be whatever is soft enough to chew. H will be on his own.
  • oh yeah J! Someone mentioned sloppy joe's last week and it sounded good. They're going on my list now. :)

    Blue- what hole?

*fair warning- baby talk coming. ;)  I think baby has the hiccups! This is the first time I've felt anything like this, and it's really awkward. It feels like hiccups inside, below my ribs... the same thing like every 10 seconds. I'd also like to note that this is the first time I've felt her from the outside (my hand was sitting on my stomach.)  Ok. Maybe I do have a little bit of that sentimental thing. haha

I'm no help with the washing machine.

For once I have a pretty set meal plan. We're going camping so it was a necessity.

    Sunday - Pasta Carbonara
Monday - Tilapia with spinach and orzo
    Tuesday - Greek tawe out
Wednesday - something on the road
Thursday - Salmon, grilled green beans, rice
Friday - Chicken barbecue skewers, and grilled carrots and broccoli
Saturday - Marinated beef skewers  and foil roast potatoes and brussels sprouts

I'm really stressed about the camping trip. This one is longer than usual and we'll be far from any shops if we need anything later.

    Meal Plan:

    *  Grilled Sirloins, green beans, and waffle cut sweet potato fries

    * Grilled lemon pepper chicken with steamed broccoli

    *  Sausage, mushroom, and spanish rice stuffed bell pepper

    *  Chicken skewers (maybe soy/peanut sauce?) and corn with peppers and onions.

    *  Cheeseburgers and oven fries

    *  Garden party food

    *  Likely leftover garden party food ;)
  • Anna- I've used that before! I think they said not to, though, because it doesn't get hot enough. (seriously? stupid dishwasher.)

J- is tomato soup usually not GF? I would just use tomato paste otherwise.
  • Stef- I dont know, we turned it off, lol.

Sesh- you mean you can afford food?????

If you visited with Caspian, I'd lock you in the garage (damnit I need a basement/dungeon) forever so I could keep him for myself. Also, Caspian is a KING.

I kid. I should be around. I get back into town from our family vacation the Sunday before, so I definitely won't be going anywhere the next weekend.

Im watching fried green tomatoes, again, and letting adam take a nap before I make dinner. Steaks and salads, maybe a cupcake for dessert lol.

I have a silly confession. A girl I knew from highschool who is friend with my group of friends, though we dont really talk and I havnt seen her in about 2 years, showed up to the wedding yesterday really thin, like size 6 thin, and she had previously been bigger than I am. I dont know why but it really makes me feel like a fat shiiit that I cant get it together. It really makes me want to just bust ass this summer to lose this weight, whether its easy or not. I hate feeling jealous of people :(

    Steph, this works for me.

DISHWASHER - do this after you have run the dishwasher and its 'clean' and empty.  Remove the racks, spray the edges with cleaner and wipe clean.  Check the trap at the bottom for any food or blockages.  Put a cup or two of white vinegar in the bottom of the dishwasher and run a normal wash cycle.

  • I'm at H's soccer game. They are winning 4 nil! I am not much of a menu planner. I think this week we'll have some pasta and veggie dishes. We have chicken all the time and I am getting sick of it. We're going camping this weekend so the food needs to be easy! Also, I got a new job! I will work at a child development center for a well known company. Super excited!

  • Nebb, I am right there with you, want to push each other.  I feel like I can't seem to get my shiiitttt together.  Ugh, I look in the mirror and it doesn't even look like me looking back.  And then I realize the wedding is in 45 days.  double Ugh!
  • meal plans:

swordfish on the grill with cheesy foil potatoes
spinach, walnut, pear, craisin salad with balsamic vinegar
grilled chicken, corn on the cob, salad
    ceasar salad with leftover chicken

Friday we have a wedding rehearsal to go to and Saturday is the wedding.

    Serejane, congrats!

  • oh, and thanks, Alli! What kind of cleaner have you used?
