I vaguely remember that you are not supposed to say "gypsy" on here because its racist.

Or maybe you are not supposed to say "gyp'd" or whatever it is.  I forget.

I dont think its considered a nice or PC word.  I would call it slang as well, others call it a racial slur.  I think its a pretty hot button.

Wow, just wow.  Some of you are being so super judgey!  In lots of cultures around the globe, people get married young.  It wasn't so long ago that here in America people got married young.  I went to high school with a girl that got married at 14, with her mom's consent, didn't need a judge's approval.  I'm not saying I agree with it, but it's not all that strange either.
In cultures that heavily discourage sex before marriage, people get married younger.
Biologically girls are ready to have babies when they start having periods, it's our culture that tell us that 16 year olds are too young to get married and have children.  If you stop to think about it, for thousands of years people got married (maybe not our modern version of marriage) very young, like early teens, had children and died before turning 50.  It has been very recently that humans wait so long to get married and have children.

</div><div>Because recently people have realized that just because you may physically be ready to marry and carry babies it doesn't mean you are emotionally mature enough.  And how horrible of today's women to actually want to go to school and make something of themselves, instead of just wanting to be mindless baby making robots.
In Response to Re: My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding? : Ooooookay? Have you seen the show? I'm mainly judging what I see. These people discourage the crap out of sex before marriage but look at the way they dress and the way they behave. Some girls get their periods at 10. Does that mean they're ready to get married? Really?
Posted by Champagne Supernova
I have seen the show.  Yes, biologically they are ready to have babies at 10.  Sorry to burst your bubble, but that is the whole point of having a period.

Does that mean they should have babies in our society?  No, they are not prepared.  In our society, 10 year olds have not been brought up to be self sufficient or even at 16 for that matter.

But that does not mean that in other societies 16 year olds aren't capable and prepared for getting married and having babies.  I have spent some time in a society where women usually get married between the ages of 11 and 14.  I'm not saying it's right or wrong, or better or worse then our society.  I just wanted to remind people that in America and Europe around 100 years ago it wasn't uncommon for women to get married at 16or even younger, and that it still happens today.
