I don't really have anything exciting to share this morning. I woke up and came to work. That's about it.

Edie, I can't remember the exact height but they are between 4-5 inch platform heels. Yup, I need to practice. They are surprisingly comfortable and easy to walk in (I have a similar pair) but I need to either start wearing them around the house or go out in the other pair more often.

Hi, all.

I am having the worst day ever. I wrote some curriculum for my job and had it done when we were leaving HI. I emailed it in early, so I'd just be done with it, but my department chair didn't get it and now we can't find the files. I have all my notes, so it's not the end of the world, and they won't be mad or anything, but it sucks. I did so much work, only to have to do it again and look irresponsible.

I am buying myself something to cheer myself up :P

Edie, you can also wear thick socks and walk around in your shoes for an hour or two--that always breaks mine in quickly.

I just bought yet another pair of shoes for the wedding. The other pair were a bit tight and I probably could have broken them in. This other pair I got in a larger size so I can put a padded thing in where the ball of my foot hits.

I usually only wear a low heel and these are almost 4" so it will take some getting used to. I just want to be moderately comfortable and not break my neck.

I've bee working rosters in MS Excel all morning so I'm taking a break before my eyeballs turn square.

I've tried the Dr. Scholl's version of the blister block stick, and I love it. I have a pair of glittery platform heels that rub the sides of my ankle raw (because of the glitter) so I rub my ankles down with it, and then also apply it to the inside of the shoes. No blisters. No chafing whatsoever. Love it!

And in a pinch, BodyGlide will do the same thing. And if you're really in a pinch, you can rub candle wax on your glittery shoes to block the chafing.

As a distance runner, I swear by moleskin. I love that it really sticks in place, even if I'm sweating.

So this is probably old news but I just read the ESPN article of "Sex in Olympic Village" or whatever it's called. I shouldn't have read it. For some reason in my mind I put these athletes on a pedestal and now I'm sitting here sort of disappointed. I mean, it's not like it's not going on but they make it sound like the Olympics is just one giant orgy or something. Weird.

Ehh it makes sense. You've got some of the most amazingly-sculpted young bodies on the planet. Usually their events only last a few days and then they hang out the rest of the time partying. While it's hard for me to imagine them acting this way, there's no denying it, especially if they're one of the first groups finished, if they've medaled, and if they're part of the more scantily-clad, publicized sports like swimming, volleyball or gymnastics.

Thinking on it, though, it's weird for me to see Olympians in regular street clothes. It's like seeing a teacher outside of school or something. If I saw Ryan Lochte at a club in a button-down shirt and a fedora, I'd probably be so starstruck, I wouldn't know what to do with myself.

Today is one of those days that I need to go back to bed and start over.

There was some traffic this morning on my way into work and one car in particular almost hit me two times. The first time I look and notice she's texting. The second time I look over and she is FILING HER NAILS. That literally can't wait until you're not driving? Why?

Mehg, I definitely get where you're coming from since I agree. Obviously it does happen but it was just weird reading the candids from well-known athletes. The one (I forgot who) where she said it made her wonder why she ever got married was just weird. I'm probably just being really naive and in the mindset of "athletes are role models" so WTF do I want to here about that aspect?

Okay, I read that article, but it made me feel squicky, too, for a few reasons.

First, I agree with you guys that they're in prime physical condition and need to blow off steam--NBD there. Personally, I would be a nervous wreck and too stressed to get down with a random guy, but no judgment there.

BUT it does bother me that the Olympians are speaking so frankly about their debauchery when they're representing our country. I don't know, I just feel like they should be more professional and have a little discretion, especially the ones who are competing now. Maybe that's too Puritanical of me, but honestly, would you want your kids teacher talking about all the wild sex and drinking parties they have? Your doctor? I mean, these people are role models. I don't expect them not to indulge, but they should do so discreetly.

And Lbarr, that comment annoyed me too. I mean, we all like eye candy, but I hate when people say things like, "Why did I get married?" Is that all your relationship is?

ITA. After you've done your job, go for it, but I'd be too worried that I wasn't prepared enough or focused enough to compete if I were partying beforehand. Granted, they know their own limits, but as an outside, I'd rather they focus first, party second.

I don't know why it's just so weird to me. I guess it's what Nates said, I don't really care to know about the escapades of those who are in a "role model" position. Sure they get down and dirty like everyone else and they are pretty much superhuman but that doesn't mean I need to know what Olympic Village is really like. Now when I watch I'm going to play the who banged who game in my head. Ick.

No, it looks like it never sent. I did just have someone hack into my FB and email when we were in Hawaii, which is when I was sending the stuff. They changed my FB settings and some email stuff, so I guess that's what happened. It blows.
