Thursday night post..

Is anyone out there?

I really enjoyed the blasts from the past in the "when I first started posting" thread.  I lurked through most of the stuff Any linked to with MrsE and the old FFF's.  Oddly enough I didn't have time to start posting A LOT until after the wedding :).

I have a feeling the next 2 weeks at work are going to be super duper busy while we rush through everything we need to ship for the month.

I made rosemary bread in my new breadmaker yesterday and it turned out so yummy!

Re: Thursday night post..

  • I'm here.  I've been around all day since work was pretty slow.  I am debating if I actually want to go to Wal-Mart right now or just wait and go tomorrow.  I will probably just go tomorrow cause I'm really tired.

I'm super pumped that I got my security system installed today.  I can't wait to hopefully be able to sleep through the night now.

  • I read through some of that thread but gave up when they were talking about all of those posters from before my time.  I didn't start posting regularly here until after my wedding.  I looked a little bit at the threads linked but it was really funny to me how hard some were to read because of all the banned people's comments being deleted.

  • Does your rosemary break taste like the stuff at Macaroni Grill? Because that bread is divine. And the only reason to ever go to Macaroni Grill.
  • Loopy - We used to make italian bread (with italian seasoning, not the stuff you buy in the store) and it was delicious. I would imagine similar to your rosemary bread.

  • I'm debating what I want to make for dinner.  I have chicken that I marinaded yesterday so I have to cook that, but I don't know if I'm really in the chicken mood.  I'll probably just cut it up on a salad.  But I definitely need to bake it at least.

  • My SIL (cause I'm sure my brother had NOTHING to do with it) got us the breadmaker as a wedding gift.  The first loaf (a honey whole wheat) was a failure last week - it didn't rise :(.
I love it, not worrying about rising and kneading and rising and stuff.  I can set it in the morning and have fresh bread when I get home from work.

Wal-mart is scary - stay far far away.

My security system is an 85 lb dog.

Hiya Fish - did you have a margarita?  This 2nd shift business is really putting a serious dent in my drinking.

  • Yeah my mom asked me why we were getting one since we have a dog.  We have a 25 pound Boston Terrier who is your best friend if you scratch his head.  Not so safe.  I never worry when H is home, but I've been pretty freaked at night alone.  Since we have shared walls I hear lots of noises.

  • DNB - we had chicken and brown rice and green beans. I hate making brown rice though because it takes forever, even in the microwave rice cooker we got. I totally over cooked it, so the meal turned into mush. Lucas loved it though.

  • Rosemary bread sounds amazing!

I'm here. I may start watching a movie, but for now I'm here. I have nothing exciting to report since I haven't really done much today, although I did just eat rice, which was exciting to me since it was non-liquid food :)
  • Anna - I haven't been to Macaroni Grill in years, so I don't remember their bread.

I don't cook rice.  I buy the microwave bags of rice.  I think they might be by Uncle Ben's, or Rice A Roni, but they are in the orange package and you microwave them for 90 seconds.  They have lots of flavors and are awesome, so that's the only rice I ever make.

  • Getting better, thanks! The top two aren't hurting at all, so I'm hoping the bottom two will soon follow their lead.

Loopy, I want a bread maker. We wanted to register for one, but the store only had a really horrible brand that we knew would crap out on us, so we skipped it.

You have very tropical drink tastes for someone who lives in the great white north.

Loopy, its not worth going back. The food is very mediocre. Like Olive Garden, it is all downhill after the free bread.

[QUOTE]Walmart was horrible for us last week. They just turned ours into a Super Walmart and we've been going there for groceries since its closer than any other grocery store. For whatever stupid reason they won't open the self check out lines, they've eliminated all of the express lines and it was just a madhouse. H waited in the supposed express line for 15 minutes behind a woman with stuff stacked 3 foot over the sides of her cart for those 3M wall hook things so we could hang the stockings before he just said screw it and gave up.

We used to shop at Wal-Mart (that is 10 miles from the house) for groceries because it seemed cheaper, but when we sat down and thought about it, it was quicker, easier, and cheaper to shop at the Food Lion less than 2 miles from here. That and Wal-Mart never had good produce and wouldn't have the same items from week to week. I just got annoying. And ditto on the self-check out lanes. It seems like they never have them open.

That is my biggest pet peeve about their stores.  All of the new Super Wal-marts have like 30 lanes, and I've only ever seen like 8 open max.

And probably my biggest pet peeve in any store like that is when there is no express lane and you have like 4 items and are stuck behind someone with a cart full.  And when they turn and look at you, look at how many items you have, and then just turn back around I want to punch them in the back of the head.  I will let people go in front of me even if I have a small order and they only have a few times.

I LOVE READY RICE! It is Uncle Ben's and I eat it for lunch at least 2-3 days a week. It is my absolute favorite thing.

The rice cooker we bought is amazing. It takes a little longer, but it's way easier than on the stove. I might have to try the 90 second rice sometime though.

Good to hear. I had my wisdom teeth out a couple of years ago, but it wasn't bad. I didn't have bottom ones so it was only the top, They weren't impacted so it was similar to getting any other tooth pulled. I've seen and heard of lots of people have many recovery problems. Glad you're healing well.

</div><div>Now we've got a Cocker mix, but her bark is big, so she still works to deter people. At our old apartment, we were broken into when H had Lola out of a walk, and a couple days before the doorman had said they'd had complaints Lola had been barking her head off - we think someone rang the doorbell to see if we were home and they were scared off by the dog.</div><div>
</div><div>Our place now has a panic button, which is kind of cool. It's by the front door, and if I push it down, the doorman has to come up with a special key to turn it off. I hope I never have to use it, but I don't mind knowing it's there.
