[QUOTE]In Response to Re: Good evening ladies : See this is part of my problem I think. Because he usually mans the remote, then I don't ever learn how. But on hot days when I have a headache, I just want to hide in here with HGTV on,  kwim? And he's not down with that. LOL

See that is why I make it point to be the programmer of the electronics.  He might 'control' the remote, but I know how to mess it up on him and he wouldn't know how to fix the problem.

What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.
  • My MRI took about an hour, but I sneezed in the middle ;)

I had a terrible day, but then I had delicious dinner and a root beer float, so it WAS better, but now I have the hiccups.  I feel like I should probably just go to bed, ha.

  • J you are not allowed to have a terrible day on your birthday. Nope.
    image
  • Musu I've had several MRIs both open and closed and they're not bad - had my head done 4 or 5 times and my knees done twice. I've had several CT scans, too.

    I usually sleep through them.

The groomer had a miscommunication with the cat. My long haired kitty has a buzz cut, military length, shaved body with a tuft of hair on his tail and his feet are left. He looks pathetic.

I just got up from a nap - I couldn't sleep last night after the cat incident. LOL Put the pony to bed, but I'm afraid he'll be cold tonight so I need to check on him and see if he wants his blanket before I go to bed tonight.

That's what I keep telling myself, but it's not working :(  I'm trying to not be crabby at least, because being crabby on your birthday sucks!  I'm better now that I had dinner. I didn't get to eat lunch today, so I was a horrible human being by the time I got home, ha.

Lynda that is genius with the remote/electronics. I need to learn how to run the stuff.

MRIs take a long time cuz it's really a series of like a kajillion images. When hubs had his accident and they later showed us those images, it was NUTS. There were hundreds.

  • My MRI took about an hour...I think.
I actually sleep during MRIs.It's not great sleep...but it kills an hour.

  • Oh Lord, speaking of Hooters...H's cousin's wedding invites just came, and the bride included an insert with "ideas for how to kill time between the ceremony and reception" and listed Hooters as one of the options. Now, there are plenty of great restaurants in our area, why Hooters? I can't believe I actually read that word on a wedding invitation.

  • Lovely, Leisel. What a strange restaurant to recommend. Hooters food isn't even good.
    image
  • That's nice of her Leisel.

  • Yup!  H even listened to my whole recap of my bad day without interrupting me once (that's impressive for him, ha).

  • So the gap had something going on that they didn't reference on the invitation, Chrissy? thats weird.

BIL got married last weekend. So weird. It was like a 14 year old's wedding.
    image
  • She's a very weird girl. I really feel sorry for H's cousin, because it seems like his fiancee doesn't care much about him or his family.
  • Need to hear more about BIL's wedding, MuSu.

  • MuSu, did you already dish about BIL's wedding? I'd love to hear!
    image
  • Hi y'all. Leisel, you got married. Congrats!
  • It was just strange because both BIL and his FI still kind of act like they're in HS, though they are both 21. And it just seemed like no one was taking it seriously, or something. I don't know, it is hard to describe. Plus we only were invited to the reception since they did a "private" ceremony with just parents and WP.

During pictures, one of the GMs commented on J's pink polo. J's response was "You're just fucking jealous that you wouldn't look good in pink."

All of J's family laughed and I'm willing to bet the GM has a red face for a few pictures lol. J doesn't hold back most of the time so I wasn't surprised.

  • Oh and BIL had the Batman symbol engraved into his black wedding band. Yeah.
    image
  • Woo, I'm back from working out. Buns of steel, here I come.

I've never been to Hooters. There are not any in this area.
  • I don't have anything against Hooters girls. I just think the food is kinda crappy.

    Thanks, daff!

I feel like that's how this Hooters girl is - she just does take the wedding seriously.

ETA: I also have no problem with Hooters girls - that was just easier than saying H's cousin's fiancee, haha.
  • Meh. I don't think Batman engraving is that weird. It's more not my style.
  • Yeah I have no idea what the Batman thing is for, except for that he just thinks its cool. I mean I guess thats a fine reason? He is a very strange person though, with little grasp on reality.

OK I have a random etiquette question related to this. The following 2 scenarios seem to be generally acceptable etiquette:

    1. Have a destination wedding with an at-home reception, as long as everyone who is invited to the reception is invited to the destination wedding.

    2. Have a private ceremony (immediate family and bridal party only) and then a larger reception.

I think this is pretty much agreed upon? Besides the fact that some people (including myself) give 1 and 2 the side eye, they are proper etiquette.

    Is that right so far?

So then, it's also pretty well agreed upon that the purpose of the reception is to thank guests for attending the ceremony. In examples 1 and 2, many reception guests would not have attended the ceremony.

So, how does all that stay true at the same time?
