  This is such a major red flag!!! I don't think anyone is saying he shouldn't have a relationship with her, but if he sees her as his best friend and the most important person in his life then no one needs to look too far into the crystal ball to see that it is going to ruin your marriage. He's not over her. And I wouldn't marry the guy until he was.

  So I guess maybe in our day and age where many more couples are divorcing because they should have never gotten married in the first place, this is becoming more of a thing. But I would never do this, ever.

  Here's an update:

  I talked to him again during our couples counseling.  He said he hadn't really understood how uncomfortable it made me. He also thought about WHY he was reallly doing it.  It was mostly because he wanted to show his family that he and his ex did have an amicable divorce (many of them had really messy divorces and no one had stayed civil).  However, he understands that I am his priority, he doesn't have to prove anything to anyone in his family.   He went to his ex and told her that it would be better for her to not be his best-person.  She agreed and was actually happy.  I guess she wasn't 100% comfortable with the idea either but was doing it because they are still friends and he asked her. 

  Couples counseling was the perfect venue for working out this issue.

  It's possible to remain on good terms with an ex and even a good thing when you have a kid, but she sounds like a creep and he isn't working with you. Something's very fishy here.
