No, my dirty laundry was aired in a courtroom, filled with strangers because the asshole wanted to get away with what he did. This wasn't at a trial where the only people in the room where people that were connected to the case. This was a hearing, where several other hearings took place that day. There were complete strangers finding out what I did to cope with what happened to me when I was 13.

I'm not using that as an excuse for why I'm in this temp position or anything. I was pointing out that it happened right before my second semester of college and that it took a massive toll on me both mentally and emotionally. I mentally checked out of school, out of everything going on in my life because I never got the closure I deserved in the case.

After getting a new battery for my car on a day with below freezing temps, I wasn't entirely possible my car would start back up even with a new battery. I didn't want to take the chance of going to work and when I went to leave, my car not starting.

You missed the entire point of my post (on purpose, I believe)... it's not about what happened to you, it's about how you have to deal with it. So you didn't finish college, ok, time to buck up and work a couple jobs to pay off those student loans and get yourself back on your feet.

If you're 'too tired' to work two jobs, then you go to the doctor to figure it out. We know you have health insurance (you told us your parents pay for it), so there's no reason NOT to go to the doctor.

Where the heck do you live that your excuse for not going to work could be 'it's below freezing'? I live in Maryland and it's been below freezing for at least a week straight, I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have a job if I had chosen not to come to work all of those days.

I dealt with a family that claimed they loved me turning around and calling me an attention seeker and a liar and a drama queen. That's all something that's difficult to go through when you are 13-14 years old.

The fact we even know anything about this is proof you are using it as a mask to justify your behavior. Big girl panties, they probably sell them at walmart.

So I got a job hosting in a restaurant, and a side gig bartending, and I went back to college on my own dime, and then I went to law school, and then I took the Bar exam and then I pounded the pavement in the most difficult economy for lawyers EVER with 6 figures worth of debt hanging over my head. Because part of being a real grown up, not just a 25 yr old, but a real honest to God A-Fucking-Dult, is letting shit go and doing what needs to be done regardless of how you feel.
