How is your Saturday night?

This is the 2nd weekend of work for DH.   We still are not in our place yet.  I'm finding him working weekends to be boring for me.  I know once we get to our place and I met people that will change.  So in the meantime I needing some socialization from the TK.

Anyone around?

  • I'm here! DH and I went out for Mexican and now we're hanging with his friend (whom I also like).

I had a mango margarita as big as my face. It was glorious.

  • *waves* I'm just filling out job applications online and snuggling with my dogs on the couch though.  Very boring.
  • And now I need a margarita the size of my face.
  • I had a nice glass of wine watching the sunset by the fire pit.   Can't wait to get to our place, but I will miss the fire pit here at temp housing.

I'm watching a documentary on American Salty snack foods.   Kind of interesting how potato chips and cheese puffs came about.

  • We're relaxing at home. We're doing a low carb diet which makes eating out hard. Spent all day cleaning up the backyard. We just finished a drink outside (gin and diet fresca), relishing in the cleaned up yard, listening to good music. And FI made a confession. Remember my thread last week about the pineapple in the drawer? Turns out he put it there on purpose. He was making pizza and I commented on how I wanted pineapple on mine. He's so against pineapple on pizza that he hid it so that I wouldn't put it on the pizza. Then he forgot about it. I had a good laugh about that one.

  • I am now having wine. After my ginormous margarita. Clearly tomorrow's religious ed class will be silent prayer.

    MrsRohlman, I will share.

SBmini, your FI sounds passive-aggressive and kind of jerky.

    You are a gem, HisGirl.
  • SBmini - I had a laugh about the reason behind the pineapple, but it was a little passive-aggressive

There are 2 young girls upstairs from us right now.  They run ALL DAY AND NIGHT. Like a heard of elephants up there.   I might need more wine.

  • Taking it easy tonight. We just watched Captain Phillips and ordered take-out. Now FI is doing work and I am channel-surfing and on TK.

He's very particular about some things, mostly food related. He said- I spent hours making that dough and I wasn't going to let you mess it up with pineapple. I told him in return that it shouldn't matter to him what I put on my slices. But, pineapple was hidden regardless.

Now it is my turn. Next time he makes pizza, I'm buying pineapple that day and putting it directly on the pizza.

  • I'm still not used to the time change.   I mean, I'm use to it physically speaking (i.e. got to bed after 10, wake up 6-7am).  I'm just not use to it's almost 10pm on the east coast and only 8pm here.   Most everyone I converse with is on the east coast.  Even the TK is more active during east coast hours.

LMAO about this one.  Why is he so offended about pineapple on pizza?

We went to ShakesBEER downtown today.  Drank a bunch of alcohol while watching a bunch of Shakespeare scenes.  'Twas awesome.  Fi and I are both at home now, my sister is staying over, so all three of us plus her dog are on the couch together watching Scrubs on Netflix.

  • I'm supposed to be doing homework today, but so far I've bought a new bike, 4 movie marathon, ordered pizza, and hung out with the bunny and dogs. I still haven't touched homework.

See how much fun we are having?

Yesterday we went to a Home Improvement Expo to scope out hot tubs.  DH got excited over the solar energy displays and the heating and plumbing people.  (Groan!)  I was on my feet for four hours, which is a lot for me.
Afterwards we went to a nice, local Mexican restaurant.  I ordered a margarita, and after drinking about half of it, I almost passed out.  It was really embarrassing.  They boxed up my food for me, and DH helped me walk out to the car.  I don't remember anything else about last night.  I'm a cheap date.
Tonight, I am safe and cozy in my home, getting ready to watch "Quartet" with Dame Maggie Smith on TV.  Sigh!  It is good to be older.

  • awesome Mad.  I assume you have tomorrow to study?

Has anyone had Jones Soda before?    DH ordered a personalized Jones Soda label bottles for my dad's upcoming birthday.  I've never had the soda before and wonder what they taste like?

  • I've worked 3 - 10 hour days back to back to back. Now with the time change tonight I get one less hour of sleep to recover from it. I only have to work 9 hours tomorrow. Yay.

But I found Easter candy on special today and a container of my mom's chili in my freezer.
  • We a dude here fixing our wall earlier and tonight we're eating pizza (really yummy, chicken, spinach, black olives, and tomatos) and watching 48 hrs because we are awesome like that.
  • I pretty much don't have energy for much more than browsing the internet right now.

Almost overnight our family business has gotten a TON of business- We just had to put out an announcement that one of our SUMMER CAMPS is fully booked (Some people have paid in full, others have paid just the deposit, but everyone has paid something, so it's not even just people saying they want to attend) and we had a bunch of people get really upset because they were planning on signing up.  They're signing up for the other summer camps now.  We're only two weeks into our current class session, and are already getting tons of registrations for our next session.

We also have 11 birthday parties this month.  We did two parties today, the first being a spa and the second being cupcake baking with 13 kids, and we have two more tomorrow.  Then I have a full week of work due to ALL of our scheduled classes running, which hasn't happened before.  Since we opened I've been working part time, but now I'm working long hours 6 days a week; Friday is the only day that's slow enough for me to have off.

While I am absolutely exhausted, I'm extremely happy about it.   My mother started this business years ago and has been working her ass off for years, finally it's starting to really pay off.

  • Lyn, I'm taking an online course and I think the deadline is midnight tonight. It's about 9:09pm now, so I got almost 3 hours. Still slacking. I got 3 hours to do it. (I've been saying that all day)

How exciting, yet exhausting at the same time.

Mad - step away from TK and do your homework!

I've had Jones cream soda before. It was pretty good. I haven't been brave enough to try one of their odd flavors.
  • DH and his friend have progressed to discussing people I don't know. So I am now knotting full time

  • DH ordered just regular soda.   I think he liked the idea of the personalized label.   It's hard to buy something who is 70 and has everything he needs or will just buy it if he doesn't have it already.

  • Lyn that is true. It is impossible. My great grandmother is the hardest person to shop for. She has everything she needs and more than enough stuff she doesn't. We usually give her framed pictures and word search books.
  • I'm pretty excited though.  We are throwing a surprise party for my dad.  Planning is made easy since he spends 3+ weeks in China then 3+ back in the states, then back to China.

Anyway, the party is OOT for a lot of people, yet most people are planning coming.   I really excited people are willing to travel for my dad's birthday.

  • I finished helping students and grading a stack of papers. Now wine so I forget how terrible graduate students are at following directions and putting units on numbers.  Haven't figured out what I'm going to eat or watch, but I'm done working for today, unless I get particularly motivated.

My Saturday night could have been a little better.

I had to work from 10 to 6 today, although I did get to head out for a massage appointment halfway through the day, and treated myself to Panera and some new make-up on my way back to the lab. After work, I met up with my partner, my best friend, and one of my partner's friend's from high school; they had both expressed interest in being set up with someone, so we figured we'd all go out together. The night was pretty much fine; we went to a little quirky hole-in-the-wall restaurant and got some food and beer.

At the end of the night, though, my partner J started feeling really sick. We aren't sure what happend; I'd say food poisoning but we all shared the same food. Either way, he ended up throwing up, and it was late anyway, so we decided to head out. We were taking the train home, and we had to get off the train because he was feeling like throwing up again. But THEN we were outside and I was just like, "Look, obviously we need to get home, but I need to know what you need. Do you need a bathroom? Do you need me to wave down a cab? Did you just need some fresh air and then you want to catch the next train?"

He decided he needed a bathroom, so we walked about 10 minutes to get to my building (super convenient that it was nearby), but because he was so ill and because he's super skinny, he started getting hypothermic. We warmed up in my building and he used the bathroom a few times while I called a cab. Once we got home, he threw up a little more, and we warmed him up and got him to bed.

As I mentioned in the OCD thread, J has OCD, which means that a lot of tonight involved reassuring him that no, our friends don't hate him, they don't blame him for getting sick, we didn't ruin the date, etc. etc. You can't reason with OCD, but at least it makes me feel better.

So, I'm gonna sleep on the couch tonight, although I'm going to check on him every so often. Our friends seemed to like each other enough to see each other for a regular date, so that's nice at least!
