I met FI on ChristianMingle. He is a wonderful, decent, hardworking man and a fantastic father that can make me laugh. I am very lucky indeed!

Having said that before I met him, I'd tried them all and there were plenty of "prizes" out there. Including the guy that showed up for our first date and wanted me to lie and say we were going into a local landmark church (that charges a NOMINAL admission fee to tourists for its restoration efforts) to pray. I would love to see the inside of this particular church but I'm certainly not going to lie about why I'm going in there to save a couple of dollars.

Or the guy that told me prior to our date - "Just so you know I'm not planning on paying for the whole date". I suppose it was good he was being honest but most women I know go on a date prepared to pay their own way. It doesn't need to be discussed prior to...and then when we did get to the restaurant he and I ordered similarly priced salads, entrees, and desserts so our respective checks should have been about $25 BEFORE gratuity. He pulls out his wallet and puts down a $20 bill saying he has to save his last 2 dollars for the subway. Ladies, I was a waitress once upon a time - unless the service was wretched you do not short the server on gratuity. If you have a limited amount of money to pay, you choose your dinner options accordingly - don't get a salad or skip dessert! So I ended up covering my dinner +tip and his shortfall. I then proceeded to ignore his calls when he was trying to arrange a second date.

Wow, after dredging up those memories - I guess I am lucky I found FI! :-)

When I joined OKCupid, the first guy I chatted with sent me dick pics. Entirely unsolicited. He was REALLY proud of his dick (he shouldn't have been). That was the last time I gave out my personal info (email or IM) before meeting someone in person; I would only give my phone number right before the first date.

Dick pics and harassment with online dating, unfortunately, is not extremely rare. But it is extremely unacceptable. And there are plenty of guys who don't pull that kind of bullshit. I met my partner on OKCupid, so I'm glad I stuck around. But your friend should not be dating this guy. Gross.

I met FI through OKCupid. I met a lot of terrible men though - and got stood up several times. I never did, but I almost felt like sleeping with a guy just because I felt terrible for him - he was an almost 30 year old virgin who did not want to be a 30 year old virgin. But....I couldn't bring myself to do it.
