Bragging on myself-- come join me!

I'm bursting, so I have to brag on myself anonymously here.  I'd be a jerk to brag about this on Facebook with people who know me IRL.

I just got my official honors from law school today!  The highest honors I can get!  I finished my law school career with a 4.0 semester and above a 3.8 overall.  This is after I failed to get into my dream law school the first time around, went to a different OOS school, kicked ass 1L, then transferred, and I'm now graduating from said dream school with HONORS, yo!  And they wouldn't take me the first time.  P'shaw.

I stuck that shit up on my fridge like it's kindergarten.  Thought you ladies would enjoy my magnet (personal details blurred out, of course).

So please don't let me be the only one bragging today.  I know you guys are awesome.  We're bragging on our SOs, so why not ourselves?  What is awesome about you?

  • Congratulations, @JCbride2015. With all the drama in your life in the past few weeks, good news is definitely welcome and definitely shared!
  • Congrats! :)
I am working on my last essay to graduate. Been working on the damn thing for a week, but once it is done I will have my MSEE from Stanford. I had one teacher tell me freshman year that women couldn't engineers so I should just give up then, so suck it asshole. :)

  • Aw, congrats! That's amazing news! Ok, I'll play: I just cut almost a minute off my run in my last triathlon (a sprint, so don't be too impressed, ha!). I'm the worst long-distance runner; I always get bored and drag my feet and it hurts and I basically need a Whambulance the whole time, but this time I told myself to focus on having fun and keep that spring in my step, and it worked!

  • YAY!!!!! Congrats, girl!

And I have that magnet as one of those vintage signs they sell in the street? Mine says "How classy people get wasted." I hung it up on the wall, and I think I'm going to move it so that it is over the wine tower.

My brag is that I ran the Corporate Challenge on Wednesday in 29 minutes, so 8:59 minute mile. I didn't run my fastest, but I'm happy I was able to run below a 9 minute mile in the disgustingly hot weather.

  • BOOYAH! Huge congrats - that's such an honour (and a *** in the face to the school that declined you!) That's awesome!

Good for you! I was supposed to run it yesterday...but I hurt myself on Monday and have been limping around ever since. It sounds like it was really fun!

Yaaay! You are wicked smaaaht (as we say in Boston). I am bringing FI to NYC for his surprise 30th birthday present in August. Well he never gets to see his best man since BM works nights and doesn't live very closeby. Then I totally remembered that BM's in laws live right outside NYC and he goes there with his wife semi often to visit them. So I called him and said just an idea, you should visit your in-laws that particular weekend and we can all hang out in NY! And he said yes, so now the secret for FI is double the fun- a trip and his best friend!

Don't feel silly- I put that kind of stuff up on my fridge too!

My brag: I completed a Jillian Michaels workout last night. My ass is killing me today and hurts like hell but I still did it!

  • Congratulations!!! That is amazing!

My brag (doesn't compare to yours) is that I am down 14 pounds! I've been working hard since March, and I'm really proud of my progress so far.

  • Yey!! Congrats - that's a huge achievement! :) I found out this week that I have passed my comprehensive exams - another step closer to my phd (which, btw, autocorrect wants to change to 'old', lol!)!!! :)
  • Congrats on graduating with honors, that's awesome! Fiancé and I bought our first house this week :D
  • KatieinBkln - It was a lot of fun! The humidity was pretty bad though, I never run in hot weather (treadmill for me all summer), so it was kinda tough. I pushed through, though!

    Congrats! You've earned it!

On another note, I had no idea you could transfer from one law school to another! There was a point in my life when I considered law school (along with a few other types of graduate programs) but wasn't liking the ones I got into and decided to go another route. I don't regret it, but for whatever reason the idea of transferring never occurred to me. There was so much about graduate school I didn't know back then, and I had no real help from advisers to assist. It makes me angry now, when I think back to how I was treated vs. how I work with my students now. That's actually why I wanted to become an adviser/counselor in the first place.

I am feeling awesome because despite the fact that I don't like the job I have currently, I'm still great at it and am serving my students really well. Now that they year has ended I have gotten several very sweet emails from them thanking me for my help. That means so much! Now if only I could get one of the real counseling jobs I applied for to call back...

  • Congratulations, hope you'll be treating yourself to something special this weekend! I finally hit 60lbs weight loss that I started May last year (30 to go) and all my old clothes officially fit again :)
  • I survived a dinner with FMIL without needing to switch to English. My Spanish is still appalling and I sound stupid but I managed to chat all night!

    Thanks!

Transferring between law schools is not easy but it can be done.  It was tough emotionally, too, because I made wonderful friends at my 1L school.  But it was a great career move and brought me back home to live with Fi, so I'm very glad I did it.

Sending good vibes for those jobs!

Funny how things like that tend to work out, huh? I actually have a similar story. If I had gone with my original plan I would never have met my DH.

  • JCbride2015 I know! I've never seen anything like them and I had to get them! I already know at least 10 different outfits that can go with those.
