@CLoGreenEyes : When my friend needed a change, she joined a traveling nurse company and they paid for her to live where her assignment was, and she made good money too. She eventually settled down in Texas, but she traveled for at least a couple of years, getting to live cool places - and often much closer to the real city than she probably could have afforded paying her own rent.

I'm really touched that you're so adamant about paying for my wedding dress. I'm seriously thrilled that she's this excited. I just don't want her to overdo it financially. Like what @Kelani23 said, I've had some friends do the traveling nurse thing for a while & loved it. One girl I went to college with went all over the place, and then went home to Connecticut when she got married. Another girl I know from high school lived in a few different places and ended up settling down in Colorado. You should definitely look into it!

@Kelani23 Aw, that's sweet that she wants to help pay for it. My mom's luckily not trying to pay for the whole thing--just the dress. I'm uncomfortable with that because they went through a huge financial crisis last fall and had to sell the house to avoid foreclosure, sell one of the cars, etc. I'd just prefer that she focus on fixing her own financial situation before offering to help pay for a giant party, no matter how sweet and selfless her offer is. I'll offend her if I turn her down though, so I'm just going to go with the flow and trust that she'll pay it off quickly.
