You best believe that I would be paying for my own room if that meant I had the freedom of choosing what I wanted to drink. Wine? Hell yes.

Am I the first one to call mud? because this is kinda ridiculous....

I'd agree if she had flipped her shit and stormed out in a hail of name-calling, but she seems pretty set on justifying her weird issue with controlling people. I wouldn't be surprised if people didn't attend her wedding because they already know about her over the top manipulative crying jags.

"Like" this post if you are drinking while reading this thread.  Because by this point - you should be.
I actually wasn't until about page nine!

    She was pretty awesome.

Although, that is pretty much how our wakes go.  I remember just turing 21 when my grandma died.    She died on a Thursday, funeral was on Monday. Basically my aunt's house was an open house for those 5 days. 100 or more people filtered in during that time.  My aunt and uncle had a kegerator in their house.   I had to drive to get a new keg on both Friday and Sunday.    I had to get the keg because my car wasn't blocked in and I was finally of age.

I'm pretty sure there was a keg on tap in that house for a good 20 years straight until her husband died.
My family is kind of like that. Not a flat-out keg party, but everyone gathers and gets to cooking. Whoever is the most grieved tends to get tons of food, and with it comes liquor. It winds up being like a holiday dinner, which ends in laughter.
  • @MagicInk jealous!!! And we just made plans to go to a dueling piano bar. Next week can't get here fast enough.

  • Oh.  Disappointed.  I came back to see why OP had the idea she could close a thread.  Otherwise, I wouldn't have bothered looking.  Bad idea, OP.

  • Well this thread ended with a twist- NOT!!!!

"Love is the one thing we're capable of perceiving that transcends time and space."

  • I wondered exactly how one closes a thread. Obviously, saying so isn't enough. It doesn't magically lock the door so everyone's standing outside wondering what happened.

It looks like there's drinking happening here.
I just poked around in the kitchen and found an unopened bottle of 2010 Merlot. No idea when I bought it. It's more of a cold beer day, but oh, well. I'll join in. I have a pretty hanky, if anybody feel the need to weep.

So.... kind of like saying something is a wedding even though you're already married doesn't automatically make it so?

We're getting a bottle of champagne at our wedding. FI hates it, and my daughter is 13, so guess who's going to drink it all? Me!

  • @mimivac my mom acts similarly. We went to my parents' house Friday. FI was immediately handed a gin and tonic and had his drink refreshed throughout the night. FI has gotten haaaaammered with my dad and the neighbor a few times, in front of my mom, and that's totally fine by her.
However, I joke about wanting to have a drink when I get home from work sometimes and I get the third degree. "Do you drink by yourself often? When do you have drinks? You really shouldn't go home and have a drink after you have a rough day, that isn't necessary." From the same lady whose liver is probably the size of a Ping pong ball and has 3-4 Mai Tais at a whack on vacation, but god forbid I EVER drink. Shit's weird as hell.

If you find yourself in CO, you've got a pitcher with your name on it.

If I was only closer to where you live.

Oh well, I will just have another glass of wine in my Red Solo Cup

What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.

It's surprising and sad that we don't own one of those! And you live somewhere way nicer than me haha! The Springs is kind of a dump - makes me miss Denver.

When you say they "lose control of their bodies," can you elaborate? Do they lose control of their bowels and kidneys and poop and pee all over themselves? Do they try to hump inanimate objects? Do they just randomly punch people as they walk by?
@zitiqueen - A little late, but thanks for the laugh!  I nearly spit up my coffee.
  • I wonder if the OP went back to her FI and was all "UGH THESE PEOPLE FUCKING SUCK. ALL THEY DO IS DRINK. THEY'RE LITERALLY NO HELP AT ALL."

I also wonder if the OP has considered how many strangers here have told her that they enjoy to drink and that perhaps she should realign her schema to accommodate the many, many, many normal people who drink regularly.

But I'm on my third glass of wine for the night, so....

    Fort Carson? @PDKH‌
Yes ma'am! I complain about the town, but I can handle sticking around in CO a bit longer. Definitely among the better Army stations. @NYCMercedes
