First world problems

Re: First world problems

  • I read a bunch of articles yesterday on how up to 40% of kids will one day be diagnosed with diabetes, but oh my god I want a mountain dew and or iced mocha so bad!

Also, I didn't get up until like, 10:30 today and got nothing done and have to go to work. Whine whine whine.

  • Scheduling spa packages can be stressful! Figuring out times available, the right services and the right person is almost impossible..and getting a girlfriend to join you, even harder! It's like once you finally get the massage you sure as hell need it! lol
  • I had to get up early to get educated today.  I also have a tetanus shot scheduled next week which I know if going to make my arm hurt.  :(
You need to do crazy Andrew WK fist-pumping IMMEDIATELY after you get the shot, for like 45 minutes. Then it won't hurt so much.

I got my last tetanus shot (I was due for another one in 2012 whoops) when I was 17, and the doddering old doctor put the needle in my arm and then WIGGLED IT AROUND while pushingthe plunger in. It felt like my arm had been hit by a train for 2 weeks.

I had to get a hydro-cortisone shot in my arm (instead of my buns because I was about to ride 45 minutes home without being able to walk around and keep it moving), so I did the Andrew WK party punch and my arm felt fine after that. As soon as the administering nurse (I think) walked out of the room it hit me and hurt like a MOTHERFUCKER, so the party punching helped a lot. I looked like a crazy person, but it was worth it.

My dress comes in Nov. 28th, and I am in workout/healthy mode to get rid of these unwanted summer pounds and get into the best shape by then. I bought these Women's Ultra Active mega multi vitamins to help jump start me up again. There are 7 (horsepills) in each daily pack, so I have to drink tons of water. Which makes me pee all day long. It's so annoying having to drink all this water and then having to pee every 5 minutes.

  • I hate how my pictures don't always load on my original post.

  • I'm getting married in 7 days (sorry I have to keep saying it so it sinks in) and I'm obsessively checking the weather in Vermont because if it rains, the balloon doesn't go up.

  • So, that vacation I'm planning? I'm trying to input my flight choices into Yapta to track and the website keeps bombing. It will let me search for flights but won't let me log in to save the flight. I also don't understand why Yapta refuses to track business/first class. Whenever I add a flight, it always switches randomly to coach. So, I'll get an alert that the price dropped A LOT, I get all excited, and then realize the new price is for coach.

  • Get whatever massage service involves chocolate.

I'm trying to eat SUPER well to get myself back on track so I fit into this damn dress, but there's a happy hour at work today with free beer and pizza. Damn my luck.
this doesn't count.  This is a real problem.

I couldn't get my dental appointment today until 1, so that means I have to just dick around all morning before I can get on with my day. I hate afternoon appointments. I have a pair of pants I need to return, man!
I would rather wait 2 months for the next available appointment than take an afternoon slot. UGH!
  • We are getting bedroom furniture tomorrow afternoon! However, we don't know where we want to put it yet in our room. So I made 4 1/20th scale bedrooms and 4 sets of 1/20th scale bedroom furniture* and I'm going to play with them and see if I can't come up with a couple of options. Our bedroom is 6 inches shy of being a perfect square. I wish they'd given me those extra six inches... That would have made life soooo much easier.....

*Yeah. This is actually how I've arranged every bedroom since I went to college. I might be a little psycho...
Same here! I make a room layout on graph paper and then cut out tiny graph paper furniture.
I AM SO SO GLAD I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE WHO DOES THAT. My sister make HELLA fun of me last night about it. BUT I know that I only really have two set-ups that will work, and I only really like none of them so....

This is not a problem I've really had to encounter.     Most rooms I've had have one obvious spot for our bed.

We did look at a place yesterday that the bed could fit in 2 places, but as soon as I walked in I went to one spot that it would be the best place based on window, bathroom and TV placement.
I just like to see ALL my options. Even if there's only a couple of actual functional options, I want to see how it will look/work if I put the bed HERE instead of OVER THERE. And tiny slips of paper make mush easier work than ginormous heavy furnitures. :D

For instance, I thought about doing my bed at 45' angles to the window corner. Turns out it eats up way too much space and if I'd attempted to do that with an actual bed, I would have lost a toenail or broken a metatarsal or some catastrophic foot-thing. But with paper I only ran the risk of a papercut!

This is shot talk is making me woozy. I'm terrified of shots. Yes. I know. Covered in tattoos, regularly assist pierces, terrified of shots.
  •   I've just started 2 weeks of work holidays, & they've started with a head cold. :(! My house is surface clean, & I was wanting to do some deep-cleaning, but I feel like crap, and the house is big, so it's going to take forever. I'm just not feeling it today. Hopefully tomorrow will bring more motivation. At the very least, I should bring the dogs for a run outside. I won't be running, but let them do some laps of the yard for a while. (This disgusting head cold, while running, would scare the neighbours, for sure). We also went on a trip last weekend, and I haven't fully unpacked our suitcases, so I'm not feeling that either, but should likely unpack & put those away.

Side note: I quickly re-read my post, after posting, and I won't lie, I feel like a bit of a B for this being my top problem of the day. I debated deleting it, & I know these "first world problems" on here are all in fun, but I honestly feel like maybe I need to reevaluate what I look at as a problem..I think "that" is the true "first-world-probelm."

  • Our house needs new windows. We knew when we bought the place that the (OMG cheap) windows would have to be replaced in the next 2-3 years but the sticker shock when we got the quote from the place DH liked best... Thank goodness we'd been preparing for this.  Still, if I'd known windows were so darn expensive, I might have been less excited about all of them and the awesomeness of natural light.  Because we have 32 windows and 20 have must-do work.  So at that point, we might as well go whole hog.

My mom always bragged to her friends and my aunts that she told me I could get whatever tattoos or piercings I wanted, because she knows I hate needles so much that it would never happen.

    Lol ma, you fucked up.

  • They've changed how they calculate our productivity at work (how much we bill people for dealing with them, basically) so now I have to do all my billing every week instead of spending the whole last 2 days of the month doing paperwork that I'd been ignoring for 4 weeks. It's keeping me on task..but I don't wanna.

  • FI pumps and pays for my gas. Most times he will take my car in the morning while I'm preparing lunches and go get it. Sometimes he forgets but since we leave for work at the same time, it's not really a big deal.

This morning he forgot and I actually had to stop and wait while he pumped and paid for my gas.

  • I'm glad I live in Jersey. I had to get gas last night in the rain. A very nice high school kid pumped my gas and swiped my credit card in the machine. I can count on one hand the number of times I had to pump my own gas.

My first world problem - there were too many cakes to choose from at the supermarket. We're celebrating August birthdays at work and I stared at the dessert case for a solid 5 minutes before I picked something out to bring back to the office.

I work in a town in NY that borders NJ. I only get gas in Jersey. It's so nice to not have to get out of the car.
  • This week I'm super tired and just want to relax after work, but unfortunately my BFF is coming into town to have dinner with us tonight. Life is hard....

  • I was trying to push in my work chair and it rolled onto the back of my foot. Now I'm bleeding. Is it time to go home? Wait, I am home. Is it time to leave my office yet?

  • My home health nurse is supposed to be here between 12 and 2. I need to eat lunch and then take a nap, so it better be 12 and not 2.

  • I woke up early this morning to work out before I had to tutor at 10. After working out I checked my e-mail and my ten o'clock cancelled. I could have slept in another whole hour!

I have another!! I'm a therapist who sees kids at school so this week I'm getting copies of their schedules to make sure I'm not pulling them out of important (core) classes. The city schools here make their kids change classes EVERY day. Example: You have certain classes on 'Blue' days and other classes on 'White' days. Okay, you'd think that would be simple because I'll just avoid the blue days when they're taking math. But no, this changes every week. Blue/white days alternate every day and into the following week all school year long. So while this week is M-Blue, T-White, W-Blue, TH-White, F-Blue, NEXT week will be M-White, T-Blue, so on and so on. So I really have no idea what class my kids are gonna be in on any given day.

Also, for some unknown reason their classes have different starting and ending times on Fridays than every other day of the week.

And they wonder why kids can't pass tests. Maybe because their class schedule is a damn daily mystery puzzle?

My best friend is in NJ. She refuses to get a car when she visits me because she's scared of pumping her own gas. It's kind of hysterical.
