hump day chat

Re: hump day chat

  • @GoldenPenguin - I have a TON of holiday decorating ideas on my Pinterest (Holiday 2011 board, I need to change the name).  I have my porch decorated for fall now (lots of different pumpkins, mums, and corn stalks... a wreath and a welcome mat) and some decorations in the house.  I really go all out for Christmas!
  • I don't enjoy Halloween. I've never had fun dressing up (probably because I never planned out a costume early so I always felt unprepared), and going out to bars on Halloween weekend is always too crazy. I don't think FI and I have ever done anything special at all for Halloween, but I do enjoy seeing the little kids in my neighborhood all dressed up for trick-or-treating.

However, I am SUPER excited for Thanksgiving & Christmas!

  • @GoldenPenguin hope the home inspection goes well tomorrow

@swazzle hopefully everything gets settled today,  My home closing took almost 6 months from the time we put in the 1st offer to when we closed, every step of the process was misery.  The sellers were just awful.. I told H I'm dying in our house because I am never dealing with buying another home again...

  • @CocoBellaF- A couple days ago I made a creamy tomato soup. It was noms! I ate that again last night and tonight I'm doing ground beef, tomatoes, chiles, and some spices for my mexi casserole. I also bought sweet potato fries that I'm super excited about eating.
  • @severmilli12 - I'm so glad you're back. I know I can always count on you for a good Friends gif :)

Once I go and look at what I have for Christmas...it might be bad.

Woohoo birthday month, not that I have anything planned, but yay for October 1st.  Doctor's appointment today, fingers crossed for cast removal!

Peaseblossom55 bf & I are dressing up as bonnie and clyde.  All I have to purchase are some fake tommy guns because the costumes are basically what we already wear for work (with some 30s flair).  Last year we did Breakfast at Tiffany's, Holly Golightly & Paul Varjack.  I wore a lbd and tiara and he wore a suit.  That's about as far as my creativity goes with costumes.

Dignity100 I'm glad you have a backup plan for the dogs so your parents can't claim they had to be there for them.  Until you get to a specialist try giving your pup fish oil.  One of my dogs had a skin allergy and we would add a capsule of fish oil to her food a day, and it helped her skin and coat a lot.

@LaPeanut1018 & @dignity100 yay for your wedding month!!

@LaPeanut1018  I feel like I get more hungover the less I drink.  The other night I had one drink and woke up feeling miserable.

  • I'm going to an Ebola awareness walk and fundraiser today, so that should be nice. Break up the middle of my work day, anyway. Otherwise I'm making a list of questions to ask our caterer (like how we get snack foods as opposed to hors d'oeuvres) and waiting impatiently for teaser engagement photos. I am so impatient I tell you.

And FI and I have church tonight. Wednesday night is civilized - church supper and the kids all go to church school fairly early in the service.

Maybe I'll pick up our officiant and drag her to the Ebola walk if she's amenable.
  • @speakeasy14 I love some of those couples ideas.  I'm not sure if I could H on board.  He's likes different and complicated....

    Anniversary

  • I refused to get up this morning...so I slept in, had sexy times with H and then he drove me to the train at 7:30 (instead of 5:30 when I normally go). Goodness it was luxurious lying around until 7am! Unfortunatly this means I will have to stay later too...but I'm seriously considering switching up my schedule to have more morning time with H. It was so nice having breakfast and commuting together.

I REFUSE to do anything christmas related until after thanksgiving. Thanksgiving is actually my favorite holiday...so I hate when people jump to christmas right after halloween. No! We usually put our christmas tree up the saturday after thanksgiving and keep it up until the weekend after new year's. That's early enough for me!

This halloween we're going to be handing out candy to trick-or-treaters at my MIL's house. Apparently she's afraid to open her door without anyone else there. On the one hand I feel like...really, we have to babysit you on halloween? BUT, on the other hand I'm excited to get to hand out candy to the kiddos because we don't get any at our condo. I think it will be especially fun this year knowing that we'll be able to dress a little one of our own up next year!

***LADIES WITH KIDS - What are they going to be for halloween this year? I love costumes! My mom always took us to the fabric store, let us pick a pattern and she'd make whatever we wanted. Gosh I was a lucky bug!!!

  • I'm so tired today.  Like...SO tired.  I dragged myself out of bed about 50 minutes late.

I really need a break/vacation.  I cannot WAIT for Tahiti.  Although, I will say, I know it won't be all fun and games and there will be an average of 1.5 site inspections per day.  At least it'll be a gorgeous change of scenery and there will definitely be times I can relax.

The last real "vacation" DH and I had was Portugal in summer 2013...so we're due.  We're really, really due.

In the mean time, I really need to pull myself together this next 2 weeks.  And I need to focus at work.  I've been failing miserably at that.

@goldenpenguin good luck with the inspection!

@swazzle - it took us 8 months to close, so I completely understand the frustration.  It started that they moved the closing date to a month-month & a half out, then it became 2 week extensions.  After the third extension I lost the excited feeling, but it was completely renewed on closing day.

  • Peaseblossom55 my bf is the same way.  The only reasons I can even convince him to do couple's costumes is because last year was completely last minute so I said just show up in your work clothes.  And this year my convincing was, "you get to have a gun"

  • @peaseblossom55, @speakeasy14 - I REALLY hope this doesn't get dragged out. I think we'll be able to come to some sort of a compromise because we know the seller is motivated (and has already started packing up the house) due to financial difficulty and he wants to avoid a short sale. H and I rent now and we've been holding off on telling our landlord the exact date that we'll be moving out just in case. It'd really suck to get stuck with no place to live :(

  • I'm going to reach into my body and pull out my uterus today.

    That is all.

@Dignity100 and @LaPeanut1018- SO CLOSE to weddings!!!

@CocoBellaF and @Peaseblossom55 - It is absolutely soup season for me. I like to make big batches and then freeze portions. Then I've always got lunch in the freezer as needed.

@GoldenPenguin - Fingers crossed for your inspection!

Today it's rainy and gross here and I have a mountain of work. The subway has been awful the last couple of days and I haven't been able to get in to work when I want. So I feel like I'm always playing catch up.

Tonight I have to work on addressing STDs. I was so tired and lazy last night that I got nothing done, and I really want to get them out this week. No distractions tonight!!

I'm jealous. My last vacation was ... okay, real vacation like where I went places? Probably 1999.

It's amazing I'm as not stressed as I am.

Trips cost money, and there's always been "better" stuff to spend money on. Really I'm hoping for a HM of some variety where we don't stay with family. This would actually be huge for FI and I -- we haven't taken an actual vacation together ever.

Hello and happy Wednesday, y'all! I have been off since Monday (but had a hellish weekend at work so this is kind of my "weekend"). Just been catching up on sleep, applying for jobs, and celebrating that I passed my NCLEX. I'm legit now! Got my own license number and everything. :)

@lapeanut1018 and @dignity100 I'm happy dancing for you guys! So excited that your weddings are SO CLOSE!

@CocoBellaF, I'm excited for soup weather (I'm not a salad lover by any stretch of the imagination). Soup is easy to make, easy to clean up, and easy to bring to work! I just did a tortellini vegetable soup that was yummy, and I'm considering making a cheeseburger soup tonight.

@severmilli12, I loooove Halloween! But I'm so bad at costumes. I'm debating whether to turn my nurse pinning uniform into a costume; I could go the sexy nurse route or do like a vintage zombie nurse thing. But I'm probably going to just save the dress for my friend who has pinning in the spring. I love that you and your H are doing Wall-E and Eve, that's adorable!

ETA: My favorite part of Halloween is and always will be haunted houses, hikes, hayrides, etc. I know that makes me a child, but I honestly couldn't care less.

@GoldenPenguin and @Swazzle, yay for houses! Good luck to you both with all this sticky home inspection business, it sounds a little nerve-wracking!

@KeptInStitches, I'm excited for your e-pics! :) Do you and FI have any ideas for a HM yet?

  • @CloGreenEyes - Congrats on passing your NCLEX!

  • @Allusive007 - I love handing out candy on Halloween. I hand it out at BF's parents house since I live in an apartment and don't get any trick-or-treaters. I always give out too much to the first few kids though and run out early. I need to remember to buy extra this year.

  • @CLoGreenEyes yay I'm so happy you passed! Congrats!

TK is being really stupid with quote boxes right now for me. @eilis1228, I am in the same boat currently. I am on a new BC and so far my period on it isn't much better than the old one, and I have horrible cramps. Hopefully you feel better soon!

@lapeanut1018 and @Dignity100 yay for weddings soon!

@GoldenPenguin and @swazzle, good luck with the inspections!

    @CLoGreenEyes Congrats on passing!

I love Halloween too, and also completely agree about the no Christmas stuff before Thanksgiving. I actually was upset when I saw Christmas trees set up in a Sears at the beginning of September this year; that is just way too early.

I think BF and I are going to do a couple's costume/theme again this year. Last year we went as hooded fairy tale characters (He was Robin Hood and I was Red Riding Hood). And it was completely his idea because he absolutely loved the Robin Hood costume when he tried it on, and then said that I should try on a Red Riding Hood costume. This year, I think we are going to go as Assassin's Creed characters (yes we are huge nerds that both like video games).

I am so excited today, because it means that I only have two more days until we take a mini vacation to Big Bear Lake! We rented a gorgeous cabin on the lake for the weekend, and I am probably going to go kayaking with BF's brother (and possibly two of his friends) while BF and his best friend ride their motorcycles around the lake. Then we are all going to chill out Saturday night in the hot tub on the deck overlooking the lake while drinking and catching up! BF and I haven't taken a vacation of our own since Valentine's Day, and that was only a weekend trip to Sonoma Valley. I can't remember the last time I took a full week off, so this little escape is really needed. I am also now completely obsessed with the logistics of buying our own little vacation cabin near there and renting it out when we aren't using it.
