So yes between each other we are engaged. We have made that commitment to each other. We haven't made any sort of announcement or anything because he wants to put a ring my finger and say that he did it "right." He's traditional that way. I humor him and have gone along with it. I love him and I'm okay with it.
I don't know button - I think I had just finished drinking a soda and I always pull the tabs off and I think I was watching something on tv and I guess I absent-mindedly stuck it in my mouth - the memory is pretty vague
I use to chew on pop tabs for some strange reason, drove my ex and my mom crazy. It was a strange quirk I picked up somewhere, since I have learned not to be so mean to my teeth.
The thought of anything metal in my mouth makes me want to puke.

lol - I think I had mine for close to 4 years but I got rid of it when I got a real job. I kind of miss it sometimes

I still wear it when I'm doing something that I don't want to scratch up my real ring. Like, when I go to the gym.... or.... housework.... or.... I dunno.

Why? Uhh, gosh that was so long ago. I guess because Josh is cheesy.
He gave it to me the first time we met face-to-face. We were sitting in my car in WV, and it was snowing... and he'd never seen snow before (being from Louisiana). He said something like "Wow, snow, huh? It's so white and sparkly. Hmm. You know, I can think of something else that's white and sparkly..." and pulled this tiny little diamond ring out of his pocket.
And then he said "I guess you could call this a promise ring."
I don't remember much else other than I kissed him and wore that ring for years.
Why did he get it? I have no idea. He wanted to. He wanted to assure me that even though we were a thousand miles apart, he loved me and intended to bring us together and marry me eventually.
Why didn't he just propose? I dunno that either. He didn't. He knew he wanted to marry me, he just wasn't ready to do it right then I guess. I mean, that was like 5 years ago... maybe more. He so wasn't ready for marriage then, and I probably wasn't either.
I don't have a better answer than that. But I don't think promise rings make a person crazy. What was I going to do? Tell him "No, I am not wearing your cheesy gift that obviously means a lot to you?"
I wouldn't hurt his feelings like that for a bajillion dollars.
LMAO I figured you guys posted at the same time but the thought of you asking her why after all that kind of amused the hell out of me.
Jeana I totally understand it when you put it that way, but in my experience most promise ring situations aren't the same as yours was.

That's sweat Jeana - thinking about it now if Mark had done something like that I don't think I'd have it in me to hurt his feelings either by not wearing it : /
Something about promise rings just strikes me as weird though still...maybe it's because I'm older now and see how much a waste of money they are when you could just save that for something more important. I mean if I had gotten one at 20 or so I'd have probably been really excited about it then but now? Not so much - plus I'm not much of a jewelry person - the only thing I wear on a daily basis is my e-ring and wedding band
Sorry if none of that makes sense - I'm well on my way to KUI

Sapphire you're right about the age thing. When I think promise ring I'm not thinking about older, mature people, I'm thinking high school girls.
Jeana if it hadn't worked out w/Josh after that do you think you'd say promise rings were stupid?

OP?
I know you're gone.
But I just noticed that you do pure romance parties.
Does that mean you sell vibrators?
ETA: I just can't imagine being comfortable doing that. I couldn't even sell girl scout cookies.
