We are getting married here in Vegas in just over 3 months!! We spend time in MN every summer for the state fair - FI's family owns a business there. We usually make a trip once a year back to GB to visit friends too. Where abouts in GB are you guys getting married??

  • Ah, very cool @tcnoble!  Yes, the MN state fair, lovely!  Our ceremony is at The Wedding Chapel of Green Bay on Cherry Street and our wedding reception venue will be at The Rock Gardens.  Where abouts in GB are you from if you don't mind me asking?

  • Your engagement pics are sooo cute!! And I really love both of the dresses! I don't know who Chuck & Nate are either? lol
Do you have a honeymoon picked out yet?

  • Aww thanks @jenna!  Lol, me neither until I looked them up today!

We were thinking Hawaii.  That probably sounds cliché, but I have always wanted to go there.  If not Hawaii, someplace tropical or beachy.  We live in Minnesota, so we don't get to enjoy warm weather at the beach very often.  I would also be happy with Mrytle or Virginia Beach.  Are you engaged or already marrie?

Awesome! I haven't been to Hawaii but I love Myrtle Beach. I also live in cold weather (New England) and wanted a beachy trip so we went to Jamaica :) Just married in Sept

Hello!! Welcome!  There's a good reason why beach vacations are cliche for honeymoons--they're beautiful and relaxing!  We're doing the same thing! :)

There are some other good beaches and coastal areas in the south too.  Charleston or Hilton Head are nice if you're wanting something East Coast, but I really love the Florida panhandle beaches.  Not Panama City so much, but anything on 30A is just beautiful!

Thanks! I had a small wedding with 23 guests. I actually had one booked for 75 people and had a nervous breakdown 2 months before the wedding, canceled the venue, changed the whole thing! It was stressful but ended up exactly what we wanted haha. How about you- what size will yours be?

  • Thanks @lurkergirl!  They are so relaxing and so peaceful  Very cool! :) Thanks for the tips about the East Coast and Florida beaches!

I don't blame you for having a nervous breakdown @jenna!  I haven't had one for the wedding yet, but that I probably I haven't had a lot of time to think about it since I have been in grad school.  I am sure I will come later!  I am glad it ended up how you wanted! :)  We will probably have around 180-190.  My extended family is huge, which has become a conundrum with kids.  Pretty much all of my first cousins have kids, which we unfortunately do not have space for.  We would have 90 just with my grandparents, aunts and uncles, and cousins and their significant others.  However, I would feel bad not inviting my friends here who have kids since it would be harder to find a babysitter for a weekend than for one night, at least I would think so.

  • Oh wow! You have a huuuge family! Sounds like a lot of fun!

  • Thanks!  I meant to say that I would feel rude not inviting my friends' kids as well since they would be traveling and that would be more of an inconvenience and maybe rude to make them find a babysitter for a whole weekend.  Even though it was stressful to change, it sounds like you had a fun time at your wedding!
  • True, you're certainly not required to invite your friends' kids but it would be really sweet of you since they have to travel. I feel the same way about giving single people a plus one- technically you don't have to but I always think it's just a nice gesture.

  • Your engagement pictures are adorable!!

I can't imagine having a family that big. Holy cow.
  • Honestly I wouldn't recommend Virginia Beach. I use to live there so I may be baised but I feel like there are way better beaches to go too. The bars at the oceanfront is fun and the funnybone in Norfolk is great but if you are going for a beach I think Myrtle would be better.

  • Welcome to the cool fold! Your photos are so cute and that dress is lovely! Did you asnwer the mayo question already?

  • Thanks @esstee!  Yeah, it's crazy, but it's fun at the same time.  I just have two brothers, but my dad has six younger brothers and sisters and my mom has three siblings.  All of them have at least three kids, some have five.  So as you can imagine, a big extended family which is leading to a conundrum for kids as a lot of my first cousins now have children.

    Thanks @buttercup!  Good to know!

Haha @chib!  Thanks and that kitty is soo adorable!

Thanks @raissy!  I did! I do love mayo!  What about you?

Haha @smichek!  Thank you! I like to drink white wine, although too much has been given me headaches recently.  Otherwise Apple Orchard Hard cider is delicious!  I also love blended strawberry margaritas as well as nordeast grain belt beer.  What about you? Also, that dog is adorable!  Is that a corgi?  I love corgis!  I could be totally off though.

    A couple Atlanta centric questions:

    ITP or OTP?
    Publix or Kroger?
    Highways or backroads?
    Lake or beach?
Since you like newer country, do you prefer Kicks or The Bull?
Favorite mall around Atlanta?  (Are you a Lenox/Phipps kind of girl, or do you make the hike to the new outlets on 575?)

ETA: I'm a moron and meant to post this to @charlieyankee

You could still answer though!  Just change the first one to "city or burbs," ignore the radio station one, and change the last to fancy mall or outles :D

  • Ooh I just looked up that Apple Orchard Hard Cider stuff.  A lot of their products are GF :)  I'll have to check them out next time I hit up the liquor store.

ETA tag.  TK, y u no tag?

  • Nice @smichek!  Yeah, that is a major reason why we don't have a dog or any animal for that matter either.  Nobody would be home to spend time with the poor thing.  Also, my fiancé's apartment does not allow dogs, so that is kind of an obstacle.

raissyrais!  I love mayo as well.

No worries @lurkergirl!  I prefer to live in the suburbs, but love to visit the city.  I would be good with living in the city, just not in the downtown area or in the heart of it.  I want to be close enough to enjoy the action when I want to, but close enough for it to be in my backyard.

I am not privy to either highways or back roads.  I prefer highways when I am in a hurry, but back roads are nice when I want to avoid traffic.

We only have beaches at lakes around here, so I whenever I get a chance to see an actual beach with an ocean, I love it.  I would love to hang out at the beach on the ocean versus one at the lake any day.

The mall one depends on my mood.  I generally hate shopping, whether it be grocery, clothes, shoes, or accessories.  Not a fan at all.  Not your typical girl that way.  So, generally outlet malls because they are smaller and I can get to where I need to be faster.  I get bored after five minutes and just want to get what I need and get out.  Lol, I really am not jaded at all.  I just don't find the thrill in it.  I actually avoid clothes and shoes shopping for as long as possible until I desperately need them.

    What about you?

    doeydo!  It's good stuff!

  • Welcome!! And congratulations :)
