Groom wants pink shoes...

Re: Groom wants pink shoes...

  • @doeydo To be fair, I think that may be a pantsuit and nor a tux. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think the same rules apply.

  • While I personally am not a fan of pink on men, I think that this one affects only the groom and his attendants.

In terms of @CMGragain‌, she is one of the most knowledgeable posters about etiquette and although I don't always agree with her myself, I think her advice and opinions are offered in a spirit of helpfulness even if they seem out of date or inapplicable-never in mean-spiritedness. If she declares that something is incorrect, it is because she judges it by standards of traditional etiquette and customs-not to get under your skin.

Question for @CMGragain or anyone who knows, do the rules about a tuxedo and other "menswear" change at all for when the person wearing it identifies as female?
    Kind of what I mean:

Missed this earlier.  This suit appears to be made of satin, which would make it evening wear.  It is not a tuxedo in the traditional sense, but neither are those Vera Wang grey things for men, since they do not have satin jacket lapels.
If you are asking me about same sex weddings, well, there isn't a different tradition attached to them.  Maybe there will be rules in 20 years or so.  I think the same fashion rules would apply to a same sex wedding as any other wedding.  You should dress appropriately for the venue and the time of day.
Judy Garland wore the top half of a tuxedo for many of her concerts, and that was a long time ago!

  • Our groomsman, ushers, and my father are all wearing pink socks that match my bridesmaid dresses. We are doing suits instead of tuxedos, but I don't think it matters. Colored socks are fun in my opinion.
