"Monthiversary"

Hi y'all. So I was wondering if any of of the newlyweds here do anything on their "monthiversary"? H and I wanted to do something special for our first month married but we spent all day together watching TV and cuddling. That was very special, but I am sure that wasn't what he meant. We just got bad weather and got pretty lazy. Regardless of that, it was special because we also were watching the video of our wedding, and all of our pictures.

My question is, if you do celebrate your months leading up to the first year, what do you do?

We didn't do anything for the first month and will probably continue to follow that trend. As it happens, H's company Christmas party is on our two month anniversary so we'll get to get all dressed up and get awesome food and free booze. We'd already be celebrating the party and the holiday but this falling on our two month "anniversary" just gives us an extra reason.

ETA: Yesterday was one year since we got engaged and I didn't even remember. Oops...

Literally the ONLY reason that I will ever remember the date that I got engaged is because it was on H's birthday.
  • We have not celebrated any months and don't plan on it. We also didn't celebrate months when we were dating or engaged. The only anniversaries we've celebrated are yearly anniversaries.

  • To be honest, we hardly even acknowledged our yearly dating anniversary (that is, until we started getting really into food/cooking and it gave us an excuse to go to a fancy restaurant).

oh yeah, this too. We did not celebrate dating anniversaries in any real way. We didn't go out, cook a special meal, etc.

Same for us. We honestly never actually took note of the day of our first date...we both just remember that it was late April 2011. We never recognized it until this year when I had my hair and makeup trial. It was early May so I said we should do something special since I was all dolled up anyway.

  • I made H dinner to celebrate having been married for a month, but that's partially because I don't have a job so I feel like a useless lump if I don't do stuff around the house. It wasn't even fancy, just chili and garlic bread.

  • Obviously I'm not married yet, but I probably will honestly.  I take any opportunity to celebrate/acknowledge how great I think we are together!  I recognized most of our "monthiversaries" throughout dating (and our fuckiversary) until the 1 year.  After that we were engaged, so then it was also "hey we've been engaged 3 months already!".

We're not fancy people though, so I'm not talking about gifts and things though sometimes I get flowers.

  • I was like "hey we've been married for a month" once the first 30 days were up but no celebrating. We'll probably keep celebrating our dating anniversary though, but that's because we like any excuse to drink champagne and go out to a fancy dinner.

  • I find it weird to celebrate months of marriage. I mean, I would assume most marriages are already past the monthly mark of a relationship.

We have been together for nearly six years, and we never celebrated any month anniversaries. Shoot we don't do too terribly much for the yearly anniversaries. Usually just stay in, cook a nice dinner, and enjoy a good book / show / movie.
  • We try to go out on or around the 18th every month, even now after 3.5 years of marriage. We find it's a good way to ensure we don't let too long go by without a date night, even if that means going out for fast food together. It's definitely all too easy for things to turn busy for long stretches and keeping roughly the same date is an easy reminder.

  • Today's our first monthiversary. We're not doing anything, although we were supposed to get our photos today (but we figure we'll wait till the end of the week to email the photographer).

  • For the first year he gave me flowers every month on our anniversary. We stopped that after a year. Technically yesterday was our 2 year anniversary, but now that we're married I think we will just celebrate our wedding anniversary.
