I only had one engagement over thanksgiving.

    I was a December fiancé!

I was too, as was my sister. :) Mine was the 14th though, and hers the 23rd (10 years ago).

Me, three! The 30th…which just happened to fall on the day that he picked up the ring (made it exactly 3 hours after having it in his possession before he proposed).

  • Dec 21 here.  But I am really glad he didn't do Christmas or New Years actually.

  • I'm a December girl too - Dec 21.  I'm glad he didn't wait until Christmas to do it!

We were also on the 30th!  H was going to wait until just before we left the house for the night on the 31st.  But he said we had such a ''perfect day'' that he couldn't wait any further.

We got engaged on November 30, so very close to December but not quite! Although, we didn't "announce" it till December (the next day) :)

Fi told me one of his best friends told him a few weeks ago, that by this time next year he will be proposing, so I am SUPER excited! I love weddings!

I don't get this. He knows he is going to propose IN A YEAR?
Apparently. H e is probably saving to buy the ring sometime this year and plan the proposal. She is studying medicine as well but she is in St. Kitts so she is gone most of the year.

Also Fi got my ring in February and proposed in December and he knew when and how he wanted to propose so yeah.
image I would have been PISSED if I knew H held off on proposing that long. I know it wasn't a spur of the moment decision and he wanted certain other things to fall into place, but he wasn't just waiting around for another Christmas. And I definitely wouldn't be getting excited now about friends potentially having a wedding 2+ years from now between this weird waiting period plus engagement.
well he was going to do it on my birthday in April at first but he changed his mind, then over summer, but he decided against it again, and then he went on to plan it for Dec 14th. There are girls over at NEY that their SO have had the ring for a year or more ass well. I just think its a personal matter of the guy. And we are young so there really wasnt that much time pressure, nor did we live together.

  • FI was going to propose on NYE last year, but I mucked it all up by doing a midnight run instead of going out. ;)

I'm just as happy he had to wait a few weeks.

  • H was 100% against proposing on a holiday, and I'm glad. I wouldn't have been comfortable being put on the spot like that in front of his or my entire family. He had no real date planned, and ended up doing it on his birthday, while we were in bed, hahaha.
  • Only one engagement annoucement on my feed. Though, it was more like "finally got a ring" then "we're engaged", they've been together awhile, have a few kids together, and considered themselves engaged already.

I'm trying to be happy for them but...she could do so much better. But it's not my life, not my relationship, not my business.
  • No announcements on my FB. I had several baby announcements early December.

My brother bought the ring early July but didn't propose until late June. Everyone knew but his FI and her family.  They had already started planning a trip to Hawaii for June when he got the ring and he wanted to wait until then to propose. My entire family had bets on how long he would last. He surprised us all when he waited the entire time.

  • My friends are so awesome regarding not putting too much stuff on Facebook that I wish they'd post more!  My cousin only puts maybe one photo every couple weeks of they're son.  I honestly want to see more because I moved and I don't get to see him!  I have another friend who posts maybe one photo a week. I would love to see more.
And my little sister only posted one announcement photo, and I haven't seen any bump photos or anything since then (over a month ago.)  I want to see more!

I would get annoyed with multiple photos a day, but several photos a week are not too much for me.

  • only one this season but it was on instagram that i saw it because im not friends with the cousin on facebook

I got engaged on christmas eve 2013

  • I saw three engagements on FB this Christmas. 2/3 are sisters and I'm pretty sure they have the same engagement ring which I found interesting. My SO is pretty adamant that he would not propose on any holiday, he thinks its cliché. At this point I really don't care about the date whatsoever.

  • I'm 0 for 0 so far in this game, but there's a couple that we THINK are engaged but are just taking the holidays to tell their families before they tell anyone else.

As far as 'how long out did FI know' I think mine knew last summer. Since he was having the ring made custom, the first step was searching the internet for ring ideas. Which he got his mother, sister, and one of my friends involved in. So that became a LONG process. He knew he was proposing eventually but getting all his ducks in a row for the ring was the long haul.

And now we're having a 20 month engagement. I guess we're kind of slow people in general.

  • Two engagements and one baby announcement on Christmas. Super excited for all of my friends! I really want one of my friends to get married in their amazing backyard. They would be on a tight budget so it would make a ton of sense. But they aren't sure since they've promised their backyard to a friend and they don't want to "take that away from them" by having their wedding in the same place. Guys, it's your backyard! Who cares! I've already offered to help her in any way possible.

  • Cousin just announced that she's been married since June, in spite of telling everyone for the past few months that she's getting married in January.  There is so much drama going around the family right now! (Doesn't help that this guy is 30 years older than her and obviously taking advantage of her.)
