Cosmetic advice - NWR

OK, my eyelashes are starting to grow back, six months after radiations treatment to my left eye.  Half of the ones on the bottom lid are permanently gone.  My tears are thick and goupy.  Yuck!

Is there eyeliner or mascara that is waterproof (goup proof)?  What do you ladies recommend?  I wear thick glasses, too.

    Urban Decay 24/7 liner is amazing and very waterproof. You might also consider the MAC gel liner, as that stuff is nearly impossible to get off even if you're trying.

    I don't wear waterproof mascara as getting it off always results in me losing half my eyelashes, so I can't help there, but both of those liners would be my top picks for sure.

    Maybelline great lash is the best mascara! Always rated best by fashion magazines. Its cheap and it stays. It comes in a bunch of shades and is available in waterproof.

    As for eyeliner, depending on how much you want to spend, I have 2 suggestions. For me, Tarte is hands down the best. I can do an hour long sweaty work our and my eye liner will still be perfect. It costs about $20 and can be found at Ultra. FWIW, all their make up  is "clay" based and stays really well. If you are looking for something less expensive I think Revlon Colorstay also works really well. It costs about $8.

    Other PPs have commented on makeup, but I have a suggestion that might help your eyes in general.  You also might want to try Oasis Tears which are preservative free eye drops that actually mimic real tears.  Your tears are actually made up of three different layers, so when they aren't equal, it leads to problems like thick tears or dry eyes. 

    And I use coconut oil to take off my makeup.

    I really like Tarte's Lights Camera Splashes waterproof mascara. It stays on through even my ridiculous sappy wedding crying, and a little bit of baby oil gets it right off. 

    For eyeliner, I second Urban Decay 24/7. I have both pencil and liquid. The liquid takes a while to dry, but once dry it does not move for days unless you deliberately remove it. The pencil is a little more inclined to smudge but good for everyday wear. Plus their Perversion black is absolutely gorgeous.

    Thank you, but my tear duct and lymphatic system were permanently damaged during the intense radiation treatment.  The frustrating thing is that it didn't work!  My cancer finally responded to oral chemo drugs.  That won't repair my damaged tear ducts.  In about a year, I will need a cataract surgery, too.  I use prescription eye drops.
    Thank you to all who responded!  You young folks know much more about cosmetics than I do!

    Another vote for coconut oil! I use it for makeup removal and it's great. If you have a Costco membership, I also like the Kirkland makeup remover wipes. I don't wear waterproof eyeliner or mascara (it just doesn't work well in my favor).

    I've been using Nuetragena mascara that is waterproof lately.  So far it has been really great and it hasn't made my sensitive eyes and skin itch at all.  I used to switch back and forth between covergirl and maybelline mascara, depending on the sale.  I had a coupon for the Nuetragena and now I may switch permanently!

    My Mom also had cancer and chemo, and although she has damaged tear ducts as well, they have helped  her immensely.  She was actually going blind before she saw a specialist who gave her these (along with some steroid drops for her eyes). 

    Oh, and a good eyeshadow primer will also help hold the eyeliner on.  I like Urban Decay's primers.

    Yep, definitely agree with primer too. I'd have to recommend NYX eye primer. It's cheap and amazing. A beauty blogger tested out dozens of primers and NYX got rated as one of the best for holding onto eyeliner and eyeshadow.

    Actually, I have built-in eyeshadow, so I seldom wear it.  My eyes used to resemble Boris Karloff's.

    @CMGragain, do you live near a Sephora? They have great makeup artists there who will spend ages with you going over various products, and are especially aware of products for sensitive skin, and those which exclude harsh ingredients.

    No, but there is an Ulta in town.  All those young clerks give advice, but I don't really trust them.  I'm an old lady, and not into trends.  I just want to look nice, not recover my lost youth!

    I KNOW I shouldn'y judge by appearances!  I know this!  I just can't help being nervous around a beauty consultant with extreme dyed blue hair, huge visible tattoos (including facial), multiple body piercings, and extreme clothing.  It makes me nervous.  For all I know, some of you ladies look like this too, but I feel comfortable with you.
    I imagine plenty of people judge me, too, as an overweight, white lady with a goopy eye.

    If you know this, then why proclaim it?!

    Also, why wouldn't you want advice on your appearance from someone who obviously puts effort into their own? 

    Their appearance doesn't have to be your cup of tea, but they know their shit and can advise based on what you ask for.

    Yes, you have valid points.  I do imagine some of you might feel nervous at my club meeting next week.  We all are wearing vintage clothing, hats, gloves and old mink stoles.  Tea will be served.

    This phases me none. I grew up in the south and did full on Cotillion. I can handle the fancy shit. 

    What phases me is discounting someone based on their appearance, only.
