  • Protip: dip your eyeliner brush or eyeshadow brush in a little water before putting on your color, it will make the color go on more vibrant! Free and easy!

I use saline/contact solution instead - makes it "stick" better :)

Huh, this is interesting. I've done the water thing, but I am going to try this.

Oh awesome. I don't wear contacts, but that's a great idea!

I think I also read that you can use that to thin out goopy mascara? Y/N?
  • I usually use Stilla stay all day Liquid black, but decided to be crazy. I'm just not going to pay Stilla money for an experiment, especially since going to sephora or ulta means I have to go to the Mall of America. Blegh, only if I really need stuff.

When my mom wants to try something new makeup wise she gets finds someplace that gives out samples.

Yes! Just 1-2 drops works like a charm! (If the mascara ' s over 3 months old I'd just throw it out though).

Good to know! I may need to invest in a small bottle then (or just ask my mom to give me one of hers that is nearly empty).
  • .... I don't know what happened with this thread. But I'm glad it's back to makeup.

You can do a similar thing for nail polish if it gets a little dry/thick. Put in a few drops of nail polish remove and shake.

  • Wow, I skipped over this thread because I don't wear makeup and thought "eh, I wouldn't be any help"...goes to show, any thread can get heated no mater how mundane the subject.

  • Jeez this thread got wild.

Still would require me to go to Mall of America.

I guess the theme of this is "I hate the mall".
I love Nyx, and they carry it at many Targets now. No mall!

If the topic is back to make up is there anyone with sensitive eyes that can recommend a good liner? I've tried several different ones but they always irritate my eyes.

I have used many a liner and they all have irritated my eyes. I decided to try the drugstore ones since I was wasting so much money on ones from Sephora. Anyway, I found that I really liked the Almay ones. They haven't irritated my eyes. I have been using the purple ones (with brown eyes) and I get a lot of compliments on the color.

It was about 2 years ago, I think. Maybe Maggie or Lynda can fill in some of the wholes, I was a lurker at the time.

I don't remember how the thread started but CMGr is very involved in her church. And she played the Organ for the church. She was hired to play for a funeral, but when she was hired she wasn't told the details surrounding the funeral.

I guess the funeral was for a stillborn baby. And CMGr had a problem with that. She didn't like the way the mother was making a huge scene. There were horrible comments made about tiny clothes and the tiny coffin. CMGr didn't think the funeral should be taking place because the baby was born dead.

Obviously, people were really really offended. And, on a less important note, people told her she had no place to comment since she was only a vendor, hired to preform a service.

CMGr got all mad at us. We didn't understand her church, the dynamics of the situation, etc. So she said GBCK. Had her account deleted and was gone for months. When she came back, there had been a big exodus from the knot so a bunch of regs had left and don't think anyone ever asked what caused her to come back.

That was CMGr!! I didn't realize that. I remember that post. That was one of the worst things I ever heard on here. Though I  was a lurker too at that time.

Ditto, I was lurking (I think under another account) and theknot was already having a lot of issues and OP's response popped up and BAM!!! Hello CUH-RAYY-ZZY! (crazy as in the thread was crazy) That thread was insane. A lot of people were very hurt. Many had experienced or was close to someone who went through a miscarriage so OP's response threw the whole thread into a tizzy.

    There. Roll call is finished.

Can we go back to makeup now?
  • We can go back to makeup (Sephora brand and Urban Decay fo' lyfe) but first, can someone tell me what GBCK stands for? Google isn't helping.

I really like Sephora. The makeup from there feels very natural for me. I especially love "They're Real!" mascara. Plus the ladies there are always helpful and have tons of tips. I also have used their online tutorials. The downside is that they can be a little bit on the expensive side, though that may just be me because I'm not one to spend much on makeup.

  • Any recommendations for a liquid liner that is relatively easy to apply? I have a shakey hand so I usually only use a pencil liner

I got this in my Birch Box recently and really like it. I find the problem I usually have with liquid liners is the brush is really flimsy, so I accidentally press too hard and it bends, causing a thicker line than I like. This one is sturdier, and goes on more like a marker than a paintbrush.

I love my Physician's Formula eye liner. They call it an eye marker, and the felt tip is way sturdier than on any of the regular liquid liners I've used. It stays on really well, too, even though it's not waterproof. My skin gets really oily in the summer, and this stuff stayed on through my entire July wedding and bar crawl. Unfortunately, I've only ever seen it in black and brown.
