So again, cherry picking? Because it seems like it is all over the place. I'm Muslim and I read the Qu'ran. It's my religion but it mentions the same thing about homosexuality and other outrageous things especially regarding womens' rights. I disregard many of the teachings because of my own personal logic and believe love has no bounds. There is no reason in this universe to discriminate against people on who they love.
@alexisa01, did you read the link I attached?  It gives a better explanation.

Some of the teachings of Leviticus / Deuteronimy were intended to only apply to the Israelite at that time. Some of them were meant to be for all.

So basically @holyguacamole79 what you're saying is, the church changes it's rules as it sees fit to go with the changing times?

At one time, don't eat shrimp, made sense. Go ahead and own people, made sense. Black people should have different drinking fountains, made sense. Per the Bible.

So how long before "Lol we were joking, homos is cool!" happens?

If you were a taxi driver and a woman got in your taxi and said "Planned Parenthood please" would you refuse to drive her there? Would you question what she was going there for?

Lets say I get into a really bad car accident with my wife. She's unconscious when EMTs arrive on scene but I'm not. I tell the EMTs her name and that she is my wife. Well it turns out these EMTs are Catholics. Are they within their rights to refuse to save my wife? Is saving my wife contributing to our sin? Assuming once she is saved she will continue to eat my pussy like a death row inmate?
YUP… This clicky might have been the last year I made any attempt at being "good" during lent, before finally deciding there was too much hypocrisy for me.

But why is shrimp cocktail only for the Jews, but no homo is for everyone?

While it may make sense to them during that time period but now it explains the problems. It shouldn't be designed  to pick and chose.

  • We have some people trying to kindly explain points of view, and others being insulting. Because combatting hatred with more hatred totally solves problems.

Care to elaborate instead of being intentionally vauge?
  • It's fairly common knowledge that there is a reasonably powerful gay lobby in the fucking Vatican!  This drives me crazy about Catholicism (Agnostic, or questioning, believing in evolution scientist and lapsed Catholic here).

    Interesting read:  http://www.vanityfair.com/culture/2013/12/gay-clergy-catholic-church-vatican

Having gotten some pretty intimate glimpses into federal politics over the years, I've grown pretty cynical and have com to believe that this type of hideous legislation can actually be more politically driven than religious initiative.  I think a lot of politicians cloak their terrible ideas in religion to appeal to their base - although I cannot for the life of me think of an advantage that passing laws that allow bigotry would afford anyone, politician or constituent.

I'm on your side 100% @magicink.  I'm sorry this ruined your day and I'm angry with you and for you.  (By "with you", I obviously mean "alongside you"!)

Trying to explain bigotry? It's bigotry. Flat out. It's hating and discrimnating against someone for who they are.

It's like saying "Now, now, everyone calm down and listen to the nice man about why Jim Crow laws are maybe an ok thing".
Pretty much what @MagicInk said. So far nobody is insulting to each other and combating with hatred.

  • I love you so much @novella1186, so fucking much. Come here, we will cuddle and look at puppies.
  • @novella1186 I almost cried reading that. I never felt I could tell anyone my religion growing up either.
