Am I the only one who doesn't find walking tacos disgusting?  I mean they are similar to nachos.  And I eat tacos kind of like walking tacos a lot.  Like I will put taco meat, cheese, lettuce and salsa layered on a plate and then use tortilla chips to scoop it up.  I guess I just don't see what is so disgusting about this.

ETA:  I mean if anything he should be making these tomorrow for taco tuesday.
I think, for me, it is just the whole eating out of the bag thing that kind of grosses me out. I can see how it would be better on a plate. I just can't with soggy chips, but PPs have said they aren't soggy.
yea poured out on a plate makes way more sense then trying to eat it out of a bag and not make a mess

I usually eat those while walking around so it's easier in the bag. It's a street fair food for me.
  • I have had them with the nacho cheese doritos and they were so good!

  • Y'all... go put Doritos under a slice of pepper jack and steam them. They do get soggy if you leave them long enough, but you will not leave them long enough.

I don't think I could do the bag. I could totally do the concept though without the bag.

I don't think they're disgusting, I just see them as more of a kid's party food. I'd rather have a taco. Or a taco salad with Catalina dressing and crunched up Doritos on top... mmmmm.

And now I know what we're eating on moving day.

Yeah I guess I find the walking part confusing. Why can you just eat them on a plate if you aren't going anywhere?

  • I think people are over thinking this.  They are called walking tacos because of how they originated. Mixing stuff up in a bag is a lot easier when you are out camping then having to tote around plates with you (one less thing to worry about and dispose of).  If the OP doesn't want to eat it out of a bag then just say "H, those sound good but could you make mine on a plate instead?"  And okay they may sound a bit kiddish (or rather a bit unconventional when eaten at home rather then at a tailgate or a camp site) but is that really that horrible of a thing?

Yeah, I have never had this/heard of it, but I have heard of Frito Pie, and I guess I just don't love the idea of eating cooked meat out of a chip bag. I have ZERO evidence that this is actually harmful; I think the BPA bottle scare has scarred me for life.

I'd totally eat it, though. I'd eat almost anything.

These sound really good.  I was always a fan of the Nacho Cheese Dorito Tacos though.  I like the bag idea, if you want to do something fun.  Then again anytime I see someone eating something out of a bag like this it reminds me of when my sister and I tried to eat a bunch of my Dad's old MRE packs that he brought home from work one day. If it works for my dad in the field it works for me when I'm at home and don't want to do dishes.

    Yes please!

ETA: But I've NEVER eaten this. But it sounds damn tasty to me.

Around these parts, we are a big fan of carne asada fries, which are basically nachos on French fries (instead of tortilla chips or what-have-you).

  • Also, are you really complaining that your H is making dinner?  My FI has made me dinner like 2 times ever (he's not a good cook so it's not terrible that he doesn't).

Have you tried, I dunno, asking him to pick up the slack? I mean Wifey makes most of our meals (she's the better cook) but there are times I do more cooking because she's busy. We just eat super simple meals (3 ingredients and a crock pot, I can do it) when I'm in charge.

Anyways, walking tacos....ew. Sober me would not enjoy these. Drunk me would eat them at least. Drunk me is a dumbass though. I thought walking tacos was like street tacos. I like those. Cause they are small and you can eat many of them.

Are you guys gonna walk somewhere while eating them? Do you not have like any plates at home right now....?
  • @MagicInk All viable questions! We have plenty of plates hence part of my confusion. I do love me some street tacos, though!

Mr. Husband Now we have questions!

Are you stoned? Are you going for a walk somewhere? Did you break all the plates in the house? Are you drunk? Do you not know how to make regular tacos?

Also, all my tacos are usually made with shredded meat. Not ground. So...is it like shredded meat in there are we talking American style tacos for walking tacos? Like is it basically a crushed up taco from Taco Bell? In a bag.
  • @MagicInk I'm pretty sure he is talking crushed up taco bell in a bag. I get off in T-minus 45 minutes and then we shall see what awates me...

No because he does plenty of other stuff and I enjoy cooking :)  He's actually out of town for work 4-5 days a week most of the time and when he's home, he really likes to have a decent home cooked meal since he's eating out a lot.  If I'm too tired to cook or something like that, I will ask him to go pick up a pizza or whatever though.  I just think it's nice that OPs dude is volunteering to make dinner, even if it doesn't sound like the most appetizing thing to her.  PB&J always works too :)

Honey, nobody is volunteering to make dinner. I adore cooking. It is my thing. But, you see, H and I split our chores pretty much down the middle which includes cooking. It is his night to cook. It's not like he was like, "baby I never ever cook but I want to do something amazing for you and make dinner" and then I said "dude, fuck you and that taco in a bag bullshit". I think you have it wrong in your head.

Why? I mean, I don't expect my wife to praise me just for cooking. I've made some shitty meals. She tells me "Babe, this is not good. I love you. But I don't love this" cause we have a relationship where I don't have to be praised for just cooking even if it's disgusting.

I mean, sarawifenow's husband might do most the cooking. Or maybe it's 50/50 split with cooking. I don't think it should awe inspiring to hear he's cooking. And honestly I don't think you'd be saying this if Sara's husband was her wife instead. I think it's kind of sexist to be all "Well at least your man is cooking! You know those men! Penis getting stuck in lint traps and ovens all the time! Just eat whatever he cooks with a smile!" which is how your post reads.

Do you expect your FI to just eat whatever you cook even if he doesn't like it?

I know, we're not supposed to call out sexism anymore. Just smile and nod. I apologize for calling out sexism in a thread not about sexism.

Don't even bother. I tried that in the other thread and ended up having to eat fucking celery for lunch.

Eh, it's my thread and I say it is fine.

Also I want to point out that if H tried to serve me fish heads and monkey brains, I would tell him to kindly fuck off. Just because I am married to him doesn't mean I have to worship everything he cooks for me.

OK, when did this become about sexism?  I just commented that I thought it was nice that OP's husband was making dinner, and that my FI doesn't do it often.  And, if my FI didn't like what I was cooking, I wouldn't expect him to eat it, he could make himself a sandwich, but I wouldn't like it if he talked about how much he thought it sounded gross without trying it.  If you read anything beyond that, that's your own thoughts, not mine.
