Re: Josh Duggar

  • So I was lurking on the  Free Jinger site.   It's mostly people who escaped families like the Duggars.  They give a lot of insight on why they think like they do.

So there were only 5 girls at the time of what Josh called a  "mistake" in his statement (what an ass)

    Jana 12
    Jill 10
    Jessa 9
    Jinger 8
    Joy 4

They know 4 of the 5 were molested and apparently one of the older 2 was not.

    Well isn't that disturbing.

  • I'm not conviced that the show will be taken off the air. It's the right thing to do but I have low expectations when it comes to the Christian Right.

If they keep the show, I wonder how it will be addressed. They follow Josh and Anna all over and will have to explain his unemployment. Curious how that will go.

Does anyone know why the story came out now?

    I haven't heard:

Here is something interesting.  Looks like it almost didn't come out:

Following a Freedom of Information Act request from The Washington Post for the police report published by In Touch, the Springdale Police Department responded by emailing a court document that ordered that the report “be destroyed and expunged from the public records…and that any and all copies of the same be destroyed.”

The court order was the result of a motion to expunge filed by one of the alleged victims. It was signed by judge Stacey Zimmerman on May 21 — the same day The Post’s FOIA request was submitted.

  • I, also, read that the detailed information was found in a letter that was put in a book given to a friend.  That friend shared the information. Trying to find that article, again

It's in the InTouch report...  http://www.intouchweekly.com/posts/bombshell-duggar-police-report-jim-bob-duggar-didn-t-report-son-josh-s-alleged-sex-offenses-for-more-than-a-year-58906

Also, the fact that TLC is currently playing a 19 Kids and Counting marathon as I'm typing this is really fucking bothersome.

Holy shit, if he molested a 4 year old then I'd think he's a pedophile.

Molesting anyone is a form of deviance, but a 15yo molesting 10, 8, and 4 yeAr olds is pedophilia.

I'm not surprised that a pubescent boy growing up in such an extreme household with such taboo and misogynistic views of sex would have fucked up impulses and views of sex. But a 4 year old is worse than I imagined ><

Makes me really question WTF is wrong with his wife and parents if they knew these details and she married him anyways.

Dear lord, don't read the comments on things.  I'm on TLC's Facebook page and the amount of people saying "He who has not sinned cast the first stone" and other bullshit is astonishing.

There is sinning and then there is SINNING.

I do not put premarital sex on the same level as molestation.

Not that I think premarital sex is sinning, but you get the idea.
Right, and just because you *think* Jesus forgave you doesn't mean you get off scott fricking free. There are still earthly consequences.

Jesus forgiving you isn't carte blanched for you to act like a vile fucking human being.

  • A facebook friend is defending him saying "he was really young though lol" (yes, she really added the "lol"). Interestingly, when Trayvon Martin was killed, he was a "thug" despite being only a year or two older than Josh was. Also, how fucking old do you have to be to know that, hey, TOUCHING PEOPLE WITHOUT THEIR CONSENT is kind of fucking wrong.

She has a son. I fear for what he does when he gets older if that's her thought process.

First, I have been a huge Duggar fan for years and even went to meet them in Arkansas. So I am absolutely sickened by this revelation. Those girls are my favorite and I hope they find true peace.

My first thought about "why now?" was that Jessa is married and pregnant now and I wonder if she or her husband tipped someone off.

I had been curious what they had been through because Jinger broke down crying about it at Jessa's rehearsal dinner.

I also know Josh just bought a house back in Arkansas so he definitely had warning and now it all makes sense.

I've been reading Free Jinger for years and back in, like, 2007 someone claiming to know the Duggars said Josh was molesting the girls and she was basically black balled from the community because nobody believed her. The police report was made in 2006 so woman clearly knew what the hell she was talking about.

I've been reading FJ for a few years now too.    They did reference this in one of the threads last night.   Apparently there are a lot of lurkers because the site kept going down last night.

I really like Free Jinger.  Those (mostly) ladies are so insightful.   I just lurk because I have nothing to add, but I really enjoy reading some of the ladies experiences from their own similar upbringing.

    I totally agree.

I know a woman marrying a registered sex offender. He was communicating with what we believe to be a 14 yo girl and when he went to meet her it turned out to be a sheriff's deputy. The woman believes "it was all a misunderstanding and he wasn't going to sleep with her. He was just lonely and needed someone to talk to." Oh and he was engaged at the time to another woman, and in his late 20s.

It's disgusting what people can convince themselves of when they think they either can't do any better or worse - don't believe they deserve better. Her parents are perfectly fine with her marrying him. It has destroyed her relationship with her siblings. When I found out the truth from court record and she still was unwilling to admit it, I stopped all communication and cut her out of my life.

And that someone had to be a 14-year-old? FUCKING WHAT?! NO.
  • I know a couple that buys into the same fundie bullshit as the Duggars. One of them posted an article about it (I think the public apology) and all of his church friends were like "Thank God for His grace and forgiveness!" and "We all make mistakes. I'm just thankful that my sins are not posted for all the world to see."

ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME RIGHT NOW?

Yeah, cause a guy in his late 20's has so much in common with a 14 year old girl.
  • I feel so badly for those girls.   It's hard enough to grow up but to do it in front of a camera sucks.   And then to be told "This is how you feel" for pretty much your existence makes no sense to me.   In what space in the Bible can they refer where women are supposed to stop having thoughts or feelings or ability to take a stand?

And then they have to deal with this?   Shit no.

It's not that simple.   These women truly believe their father has their best interest in hand.   They really believe that if they pray hard enough God will take them in the right direction.

And lord knows what she was actually told.   In their world teens making out is a sin.   They might have been told his "mistakes" were much less serious then they really are.

In their world, divorce is not an option.  Always support your husband, because he knows best.   God forgives, so should you.

Couple of Anna's sisters are married so some assholes too. Daddy dearest isn't the best in picking out husbands.  So much so that some her siblings have actually broken away from the family.   Often going against daddy means being shunned, some people are not strong enough to handle that.

Anna comes across as weak.    While is saddens me, I'm not surprised by her support.
This really breaks my heart. What a total mind fuck for these women.

Not to derail, but this is why the "asking permission" and "give away" traditions grind my gears. This is the type of situation that gave rise to those male dominated, women-as-property traditions. Daddy picks out a husband and gives permission to marry her off. Then gives her away/transfers ownership to the dude he picked out.

Gross isn't?   Grown ass adults can't even go out in public without an accountability partner.  Even to go to the grocery store.    And their accountability partner is often a child.    Text messages are monitored.   Daddy picks the daughter's husbands.    It sickens me.

On another note, I also read that the Kellers (Anna's family) has a prison ministry.  They help ex-cons get back on their feet.  So that might play into their support of Josh.  They believe in rehabilitation.

That's so extreme... why are people crazy? You know if it was the other way around and men were super tightly controlled everyone would be freaking out a whole lot more.
