Re: BEST DAY Thursday

  • @CocoBellaF happy anniversary!! 4 years!! Any big plans for the big day (or the weekend)?

@swazzle happy birthday!! Welcome to this new decade! So far for me it has been pretty good so I hope yours is just as good!!

Today I am chilling at home. Watching criminal minds on Netflix at the moment. I love me some Dr Spencer Reid lol

Tonight we are going to a local single A baseball team. $2 beers and sodas sooo why not?

@twodimes can I come to the cake meeting with you? kthx

@cu97tiger - I'm feeling much better today, thank you :) I am SO jealous that you're seeing Book of Mormon! It's the one show that I'm dying to see but tickets are just too $$$

I get discounts through my company, I'm pretty sure that is one of the shows.  I can look into pricing for you if you'd like.

  • @cu97tiger Have fun seeing Book of Mormon! I see it in 3 weeks and can't wait.

@southernpeach89 It's not the cost, but H doesn't like the idea of someone we don't know being in our house and watching the baby.  At least in a day care it's a licensed center with many people and all.  I kind of hope he might change his mind after we look at some day care centers.  I don't even know how to search for home day cares but I am not sure H won't like the idea anyway.

Really?! That would be awesome! Thank you!

  • @bethsmiles Ugh putting together a guest list and coming across those random guests that make you go huh? does not make me miss wedding planning lol. There were so many of those that my parents wanted to invite and it just gave me such a headache.

@caseface5 Oh wow! lol. Well that's great you will get to catch up with him!

@jenna8984 Yeah that makes more sense to me now that you say he is in a union. It was difficult for H to move to first shift, but not impossible, so it worked out for us in the end.

  • @peaseblossom55 I think with home day cares...you kind of get the benefits of a day care and a nanny. With an infant you don't necessarily need someone who has a background in education to care of your child but just someone who has experience with caring for infants. Also, they would receive more individualized attention since it's a smaller ratio of "teacher/nanny" to child (in most cases I would hope). I like the idea more than just a regular day care but we will see what we find.
  • @jenjen047 I went to Vows too. They let you take pics so take as many as you can!!

@jenna8984 My H works the second shift and he likes it and doesn't want to leave it- he says it will be good for when we have kids but I barely see him and it sucks. He argues that it is very hard to get on first shift because like you said- everyone wants first shift- and that he'd go back to the bottom of the totem pole if he changes shifts and he'd get crappy job picks. That's really the least of our problems right now though.

@bethsmiles I think it's a little odd to invite the GF's parents if you've never met them- I could totally understand if you knew them and had some sort of relationship with them. Good luck with the venue search!

@caseface5 that's so messed up that your uncle's kids won't talk to him even though it's the mom that cheated. My friend was just telling me a similar story about her family- her aunt got cheated on so she left the H- now one of their kids won't talk to her because she left the dad...even though HE'S the one that cheated.

  • @CocoBellaF Happy Anniversary!

    @Swazzle Happy Birthday!

@southernpeach89 That's awesome. I really think that should be standard for all work places.

    ----------------------------------------------------

SO much going on here today! Excited for all of you and the great things you have going on. :)

BF started off my morning with sending me a text that said his new boss is giving him a raise. Huge sigh of relief. Between him switching jobs and his car wreck last month, finances have been a little tight for both of us, and I'm excited that he may have something finally going in his favor. We had a little talk last night about jobs, the bills that both of us have, and we just have so much going on right now. It will get better, I know, but we're both a little stressed and waiting for a break.. so this raise was awesome news. He's been a little down trying to make things happen for himself and our future. I told him it would be fine, and things will happen when they're supposed to. It's hard to not be a little disappointed for him when I know how hard he's trying.

I have a to-do list as long as my arm, but I'm not seeing anything getting done. Still need to get into my classroom and work, but that probably won't happen today either. If I know me, I'll probably end up binge watching Parenthood on Netflix again. I discovered it in April, watched a whole season, and then up until yesterday, have only watched an episode here and there. So I may try to knock a season or two out today. ;)

Hope everyone has an awesome Thursday!
  • @casey1219 Parenthood is one of my favorite shows! It made me cry so much but I LOVED it! It's so worth watching.
  • @swazzle - If you came to DC, they wouldn't be so expensive. I'd go again :)

  • @casey1219 - Yay for a raise! That's awesome! Also, I love binge watching Parenthood. I still haven't finished the whole series yet though. I binge watch 1 or 2 seasons then don't watch for a few months and then binge watch again. It's always so good though!

  • @swazzle I NEED THAT IN MY CITY *-*

@jenna8984 got easier once we left and luckily Matt's familiar with these situations, so he knew how to handle it. Today i'm just tired and sore
  • @cu97tiger - enjoy Book of Mormon! ive also heard great things! also jealous of your WFH tomorrow.

@futuremrshistorian - good luck with moving!!!

@southernpeach89 - i am also SO excited to try on dresses!!!

@bethsmiles - ive never actually watched I Found the Gown. is it good?? i will AW pics since @lavenderfields13 says i can!!!! do you and FI have a rough sense of when you want to get married?

    @casey1219 - yay for BF's raise!!!

  • @jenjen047 - It is good, the deals some of the people get on the show are amazing! Plus I feel like they show a lot more variety of dresses than Say Yes to the Dress. And yes, FI and I are thinking anywhere from June to mid-July next summer for the wedding. We don't have our hearts set on any specific date so any date open at a venue we love in that time frame will work for us. We really wanted a fall wedding but hopefully FI will be starting grad school next fall (and maybe myself as well) so it just seemed way to stressful to try to do a wedding at the same time.

  • @southernpeach89 I like the idea of home daycare, I'll have to look into it, but like you I'm not sure what we will find.

    Anniversary

  • @cu97tiger I would love to see The Book of Mormon! Let us know how it is!

@southernpeach89 We’ve only been doing our registry stuff online – not sure if that’s normal?? We were both a little overwhelmed thinking about trying to do it in the store, and I think it’s easier for us to compare things and check things off of a list if we’re doing it online. Love your wine rack!

@casey1219 Awesome news about your BF’s raise!

  • @knockonwood5127 It's totally normal. We did our Pottery barn registry completely online. The only reason we went into Macy's and BBB was because there was just so much stuff that it helped me to look at all of it lol.
  • @southernpeach89 and @bethsmiles I discovered Parenthood one week back in April when I had to take a week off work for being sick, and I have been obsessed ever since. I have ugly cried through more than one episode.
  • @knockonwood5127 haha yep we did all our registries online. Be careful making them so early - some stuff will change as the seasons change
I guess, to tell you the truth, I've never had much of a desire to grow facial hair. I think I've managed to play quarterback just fine without a mustache. - Peyton
  • @casey1219 - I'm pretty sure it is impossible to watch Parenthood and not ugly cry at some point!

  • @knockonwood5127 We made a list of stuff we wanted to register for by looking online, but then we went in store to set up the registries and look over everything in person to make sure everything looked sturdy/high quality/whatever. The smaller stuff like kitchen utensils and bakeware we did online, but we wanted to look at the small appliances and luggage in person. I'm especially glad we looked at the luggage in person because the set I originally wanted to register for was really poor quality. The set we ended up registering for is WONDERFUL, and I got a ton of compliments on it last month when traveling. :)

  • @knockonwood5127 yep we did the same as @eilis1228 and double checked quality in person but did the registering nonsense online.

  • @swazzle @caseface5 and any other Stitch Fix people- do you drop your returns in the blue mailboxes or bring them to the post office? It says you can put them in the mailbox but the mailboxes say you can't put in anything over 13 ounces and I don't want this package returned to me. So I was going to drop it at the PO on my lunch break but that's annoying.

I was actually going to ask @Swazzle the same thing. I have mine in my car now, just wondering what to do with it.

I just bring mine to work with me and pass it off to the mail room. I'm not sure about the post office/mailbox thing. I'm sorry!
