Monday Catch Up

Re: Monday Catch Up

  • @speakeasy14 - I'm actually very oily (skin and hair). I mix my own using: castor oil (this is what really does the deep cleansing, getting rid of the dirt and makeup), almond oil (for oily skin), and jojoba (for acne-prone skin). I mostly just eyeball the amounts but using a small travel bottle I got from CVS, I do roughly the same amounts of almond and jojoba and a little less of castor (because even with oily skin, it can be very drying). I bought all of my oils on Amazon for about $10 a bottle and still have all 3 about half full right now. You basically massage the oils into your skin with dry fingers, then lay a hot wash cloth on your face for a little bit to help open your pores. Once the cloth cools down, gently use it to wipe away the dirt, makeup, and oil. I don't even need moisturizer anymore for the most part (I always cleanse at night but if I shower in the morning before work, the water dries me out a little bit and I have to add a smidge of moisturizer then). Sorry for the novel!

    @labro - Thank you!!!! I GET TO SEE YOU IN 6 DAYS!

    @Swazzle OMGOMGOMGOMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I get to leave for vacation on Wednesday!!!!!!!!!

  • @untouchablets Sounds like you had a super productive weekend!! DH and I are in a search for a dresser for Callie's nursery. We found one last month that we loved but it wasn't exactly the color wood we were wanting so we are waiting until the end of the month to see if anything else pops up.

    @MsKittyDanger A candy bar sounds cool! Do you get to choose the candy that comes with it?

    @speakeasy14 Woo nice deals! Sounds like you got a lot of nice clothes!
  • @swazzle thank you for the novel! You have convinced me to try it.

    @caseface5 he hasn't been in the US for awhile, right? Maybe it was a bit of a cultural shock and that is why he was acting so strange?  Not an excuse for being rough with Tessie though.

    @cu97tiger so jealous you were at the game! Sounds like an amazing experience!

    @labro It was awesome, and they have it every Saturday.  Also, I love that you taught how to paint on the ceiling hahaha.  I did the same, and then just used a small paint brush to touch up all the oops spots.

  • @speakeasy14 - I did a little shopping myself, but it was at Old Navy.  I stopped by to see if they had a particular maxi skirt and ended up getting a couple other things instead.  LINK (wearing today!), LINK, LINK (in purple and black floral), LINK, and LINK.
  • @southerpeach89 Not sure! Kinda hoping we are. I just found out about it on Friday, so when we go make final payment I'm going to ask. I was pretty stoked about it too :)
  • @Swazzle - That necklace is amazing!

    @southernpeace89 - I can't wait to see pics of the nursery!  How much fun it must have been for the family to work on it together!  I would have loved to have worked on my nephew's nursery with my sister and BIL, but at the time they lived in NC and I lived in OK.

    @CaseFace5 - Oh HECK no.  My BFF's (now ex) husband tried to do that to my dog once and I never let him near her again.

    @speakeasy14 - Yoga...in a winery?  What black magic is this?!  Must try.

    How was your weekend?
    Pretty good!  I took my BFF and her son back to Texas on Friday and then spent the night with my grandparents.  I hadn't spent a night with them in a while, and it was good to see them before I move.  On Saturday I drove back so I could watch my brother's fiancée try on her wedding dress, and then I basically was lazy for the rest of the day.  Yesterday I went to church with my parents for the last time--it was super sad, because I grew up there and all the church ladies are like my second grandmothers and so I cried because I'm going to miss them.  And then we had lunch at my favorite Mexican place and I took a long nap and then read my book (Dragonfly in Amber, the second Outlander book) for the rest of the day.

    Best part of the weekend?
    Definitely seeing my grandparents.  They've been married almost 67 years and are just adorable.

    Crappiest part of the weekend?
    Saying goodbye, and the realization that it's actually really goodbye

    Mac and cheese or cheesy potatoes?
    Mac and cheese.  I tend to like my potatoes with lots of butter, but no cheese.
  • @minskat30 the winery wasn't open yet, so all the wine was after yoga.  I would have fallen over if it was before/during haha

    @futuremrshistorian and @labro it seems a lot of the local wineries here are doing it. If you have any local wineries near you, I suggest checking their event schedules to see if they offer the same.  The one I went to was $10 a class.

  • @futuremrshistorian Our family's have really been such a big help. It was @labro 's idea and my mom's idea to paint and do the bead board so I'm glad I have them close by to help put ideas together and get these projects completed with me. I can't imagine doing this all by myself. And someday I'll be able to tell Callie that her Aunt, Uncle, and grandparents all helped make her bedroom so pretty. I can't wait.

    @GoldenPenguin LOVE those sneakers!!!!
  • @GoldenPenguin - I love your new running shoes!

    @Swazzle - Your necklace is so pretty! Also, your dog is adorable :)

    I don't know if I'm in a bad mood because it's Monday or because I really fucking hate this job (probably both) but either way I just don't want to be here today. I have a big list a jobs to apply to tonight. I really just need to be more aggressively applying to jobs so I can get out of this one.

    How was your weekend? Pretty good, not too exciting. I worked on Saturday but everything ran smoothly and I got to leave on time for once. We had dinner and drinks with a friend on Saturday night and then were just lazy and did a lot of nothing on Sunday. We were going to see Jurassic World but when we got to the theater it now apparently does assigned seating and all that was left was the front row so we ended up not seeing the movie. I e-mailed some venues and am scheduled to go see mine and FI's top choice Sunday after next. They are already almost completely booked for next summer though and we could do a venue tour until August 2 because their tour times were all booked until then so I'm not getting my hopes up about this one. But I found another place I really like last night so I'm going to e-mail them today about setting up a tour.

    Best part of the weekend? Just getting to have down time with FI. My family has been visiting a lot this summer and typically their visits really stress me out and are exhausting so it was nice to have a weekend of doing nothing. Oh and I'm down 4 lbs! yay!

    Crappiest part of the weekend? Work.

    Mac and cheese or cheesy potatoes? Mac and cheese!

  • @minskat30 - Our cycles are really in sync!

    @Keptinstitches GOOD LUCK this weekend!

    @Labro Yep lol. Maybe when she gets to that stage of wanting to change everything about her bedroom and make it "her own" then we will reveal the message lol.

    @Bethsmiles Good luck with all the venue visits, I hope you find one that has a date that works for you and FI.

    @TwoDimes EEEEKKKK you're getting so close!!! I'm sorry you had to change makeup artists. How annoying! Yay for knocking things off your list! It's going to feel great getting those things done now!
  • @CocoBellaF I just bought that same sports bra and tank. I got an email and went over to oldnavy.com and just got a ton!

    @Speakeasy14 Yeah, he hasn't been back in about 3 years. I'm sure it's hard to go back and forth seeing as everyone over there speaks Korean, his family included so he doesn't use English unless talking to us and even then he sometimes slips. We're seeing him again a whole bunch of times because he's here for 2 weeks, so hopefully he will be back to normal. And, he's not coming to the house again so I don't have to worry about Tess.

    @Keptinstitches good luck!!!

    @TwoDimes - That is really frustrating about the make-up artist. I do think you look great though! Also, your FI's comments at his cousin's wedding are too cute :) I can't believe you are so close!

    ETA: @southerpeach89 - Thanks, I really didn't realize that things would be booking up so quickly. It's kind of stressing me out! But there are so many great venues in Colorado so I'm sure we'll find something we love.

    @southernpeach89 - I can't wait to see your nursery AW!

    @CocoBellaF - The forbidden fruit! You know what happened the first time a woman ate forbidden fruit! ;)

    @Swazzle- Your necklace is so sparkly and beautiful! Also, I think my dog would totally have a crush on your dog.

    @untouchablets - I loved the way you told your cat story, haha.

    @MsKittyDanger - Free candy bar! That sounds awesome!

    @speakeasy14 - Yoga followed by wine? I almost can't think of a better way to relax! That sounds great! I'm so sorry your migraine ruined the rest of your weekend though.

    @labro - It was so nice of you to let them have their boy time, haha! Was there only one bathroom?

    @KeptInStitches - Good luck on your defense, lady! You've got this!

    How was your weekend? Amazing. My house is amazing. My life is amazing. The weather is amazing. Did I mention my house is amazing?

    Best part of the weekend? We got a last minute invitation to go see Jim Gaffigan with one of my work buddies on Saturday night. So we went out to dinner at a Mexican restaurant where I had an AMAZING burrito with pork and pineapple, plus two very strong margaritas that immediately went to my head because I was starving. Jim Gaffigan was absolutely hilarious! Then we ended up being awake enough to go to another comedy show called "Midnight Mass" where they decorate this bar like a church and a bunch of random comedians each do a few minutes. Apparently I was laughing the hardest at all the people that weren't that funny. Whatever. Plus, I got 5 drinks for 19 bucks at this place! I'm going back every month!

    Crappiest part of the weekend? My stomach was ANGRY on Sunday morning..... They also tore apart the dog run at my old house, so I was really upset when I drove the dog over there this morning and found out I'd have to leave him in his crate inside the house the entire day, since our yard isn't quite secure enough for him yet.

    Mac and cheese or cheesy potatoes? Mac and cheese.

  • @AlPacina - I love Jim Gaffigan!

  • @bethsmiles - OMG, me too! It was actually my second time seeing him. The first time was the evening of a day that I woke up with food poisoning. Let's just say it was MUCH easier to enjoy myself this time. Who else do you like, comedy-wise?

  • @TwoDimes That sucks about your original MUA but you look gorgeous and I love the hair and make-up! YOU'RE SO CLOSE!!!
    friends tv show funy
  • @AlPacina - Key and Peele are my absolute favorite but I also like a lot of Amy Schumer's stand-up, some Dane Cook, and Brian Regan is pretty good. Oh and Kevin Hart is funny too. And I just watched someone on Netflix who was hilarious but I can't remember her name and stupid work has Netflix blocked so I can't go find it!

    @TwoDimes LESS THAN TWO WEEKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    @KeptInStitches Good luck!!!!!!! You can do this!

  • @TwoDimes - You're getting married NEXT WEEKEND. OMG. Your hair is absolutely gorgeous and I think your makeup looks really great too. I would totally do the same as you, and get my makeup done elsewhere the day of. You want someone with experience!

    @AlPacina Yeah, just the one. Luckily it's a largeish bathroom so they all had room to sit on the floor and wait their turn.

  • @AlPacina I legit keep going "candy candy candy" like Garfield :')

    Side note: I am left alone in the office. How on earth will I get work done now!? :')
