  • I'm out of town on business and my clients don't want to go out to dinner tonight so I have to pay for my own dinner out of my per diem instead of expensing something fancy :(

Dinner will likely be a granola bar and free shitty hotel wine so I can pocket $40 of cold, hard cash.  Womp.

The Lifetime movie I DVRd is one I've seen before. I need to start writing down titles.
LMN is my ultimate guilty pleasure.  I tried to hide my DVR list from (then) FI when he moved in for as long as possible.  I will immediately watch "Fatal (Anything)" or "The Perfect (anything)" Insert "Nanny", "Wife", "Neighbor", "Honeymoon", "Farmer" hahaha.

Something recently blew my mind though - have you seen the ads for some movie with Kristen Wiig & Will Farrell?  It actually looks like a serious movie.  DH was like, "WTF are they serious with this?"

I just watched "Taken: The Sophie Whoever Story" which was an EXACT replica of actual "Taken" minus ass-kicking Liam Neeson and his "particular set of skills".

I called yesterday to cancel cable they told me that I have to bring the old cable card I used to have for my TiVo, which I have not used in over 2 years, into the office before they can cancel.  My car was in the shop yesterday afternoon so I couldn't bring it right then when I was on a bender about cancelling.  Then I saw a couple of hours later there was a shooting right by the cable office yesterday afternoon because a few of my facebook friends knew the guy who was killed.

Now I'm wavering on bringing them in...

Holy cow! That is CRAZY.. another thing to add to my list for why in 6 years FI and I have never had any form of cable TV. I'll stick to my rabbit ears!
Yea, because there are always shootings outside of cable company offices.
I dunno... In my experience the always put the cable offices in the sketchiest parts of town. I try to avoid going there at all costs. But that's probably mostly because the lines are horrendous and filled with people taking forever asking stupid questions.

I also always seem to hear of friends having their bills increased for unknown reasons, getting double billed, being on hold for hours to fix it and getting the run around, taking months to cancel even when they are out of contract.. just all seems like a hassle to me!

  • @onefootinthebayou I watched the Will Ferrell Kristen Wiig one, and I was pissed. I wanted it to be an overly dramatic spoof on Lifetime movies, but all it was was a typical Lifetime movie. LOL @ "The Perfect Farmer."

I'm sitting outside in Wisconsin watching a guy drive around on this tractor and was inspired.  I could totally write the plot to that one.

Oh no! I recorded that for a night when I get the boys out if the house. I was counting on a spoof!

The antagonist MUST die in a grain elevator, or be smothered in corn in a silo (a plot device legitimately employed in 1995's "Witness", starring Harrison Ford).  Just saying, I think we have something here...come to think of it, I don't think there has been a pitchfork death in a Lifetime movie that I have seen.  Random giant hook hanging in a barn, yes.  Falling from top of a barn & impaled onto spike, been there, done that...but silo, grain elevator, pitchfork all untouched to my knowledge.
  • I sent out my wedding invitations on Monday.  I had weighed them here at my office so I had the correct postage for the weight, it was a pretty vintage tulip in black and white.  I get to the post office and they tell me I need extra postage because it has to be hand cancelled... I thought I could just pay a fee.  Fine, not a big deal, it was only like $25.  But the stamps are these cranky looking penguins.  On my wedding invitation.

This is exactly what happened to me when I was bitching about the USPS a couple of weeks ago. I took my STDs in, had them weighed, bought the Tulip stamps and sent them. A bunch of them came back needing additional penguin postage because the chick who sold me the postage didn't take hand cancelling into account. So I got to re-do a bunch since I didn't want the crappy "INSUFFICIENT POSTAGE" stamp on them.

For the invitations I can either get .93 stamps or cobble together smaller stamps (in this case 2oz wedding cakes and the penguins) like the STDs. I found .93 stamps but they are a creepy picture of an author who only wrote about death and betrayal. Cranky penguins it is!

  • I am going to Austin for the weekend and I haven't even thought about doing laundry or packing. I leave first thing in the morning.

I am supposed to be stuffing wedding invitations, not Knotting. I just can't get motivated today.

I have to attend a fundraiser dinner tomorrow night. I can't decide between the sensible flats that my Physical Therapist would prefer that I wear, or the stilettos (that she did say I could wear when ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY) she would prefer that I not.

OMG love it that I'm not the only one with the tulip/penguin combo.

I really wanted the new ones that just came out with the vintage seed packets on them, but those were only in the usual forever ones.  Boo.

    UPDATE!
I made it back alive, and cable-free, with no lines and double speed Internet for supposedly the same price.

There was no sidewalk memorial or anything, so that must be outside his house instead of where this happened. It was also disturbingly close to the last apartment DH rented, which I very rarely visited.

  • The rental house we've found for September had been on the market, but the owner took it off for us to rent for three years.  Now that it's off the market, I can't look at the pictures on the realtor's website and plan flower gardens all day.

I wanted to order chicken fingers and fries before I left town on my shift today, but the restaurant's phone was busy when I called, so I left town without them - they put something on those fries and they're like crack, I swear.

I'm transitioning back to a job where I don't have to wear a uniform, which means my professional wardrobe needs an update.  I'm waffling between wanting to buy all the pretty things, and hating shopping.

On a shopping note:  we're going to a wedding this weekend, and I bought this dress.  It could use a belt, so my options are either a thin grey one, or a wider black one.  Then, shoe options are either a red flat, a black and white low wedge, or black pumps.  Thoughts?

I would go black pumps, no belt. Black belt would suggest bumble bee to me but the pumps are removed enough not to. If you do the grey belt, I'd go with a neutral sandal (sorry, I realize that wasn't one of your choices, just my suggestion). Love the dress tho.

I wish we got a per diem - my travel meals are usually subway/JJ/Panera type of meals so I'd love to pocket that extra $30! I don't mind eating alone but usually I don't want  a big "sit down" meal I just want something quick or light so I eat cheaply

I can commiserate - my invites had American Flag forever stamps and my thank you cards had Spider Man. I would've preferred cranky penguins - at least penguins are cute!

FI and I actually bought a ton of the Batman stamps specifically to put on our RSVPs...

  • I believe our invitations had Abraham Lincoln. Oh well.

My FWP is that the chain in the necklace my H bought me is pulling my hair. So I need a new one.

  • My wedding had a vintage seed packet theme, and I was bummed that those stamps were no longer available from the post office! I should have gotten married a year ago.

I think we had forever flowers of some sort for the invitations. And postcard stamps with hummingbirds for the STDs and RSVPs. I used water lilies for the thank you cards.

Still looks better than my thank you cards. Canadian comedians, and they were not attractive stamps. I was distracted when the postal worker started quickly putting them on, and when I was slightly horrified he even admitted they needed to get rid of them so he didn't ask me if they were ok like they 99% of the time did.

Every single guest commented on the "ugly" stamps. Ugh.

I would go with the thin grey belt and red flats.  If you're up for buying new accessories, how about a royal blue thin belt and nude, gold or light pink shoes?
