@jenjen047 your wedding is in January, right? So November would be 2 months beforehand which is perfect, plus its right before all the holidays. Even still, I had my sister's bridal shower in May when her wedding was in September because of different family obligations.
@jenjen047 November 21 seems perfectly fine to me! It's about 2 ish months before the wedding right? Plus December is basically out because of the holidays and January seems too close to me!
@speakeasy14 congratulations!!!!!! Sorry about having to babysit your coworker though. That definitely shouldn't be part of your job. I would also like to apologize on behalf of the younger 20 something year olds...we aren't all like that!
That's about all the energy I have to respond to people currently. Sorry, I do try when I am feeling up to it, and I do care about all of you, but this is already at 4 pages and I stayed home from work today with a migraine. Maybe all of the stress of the past few weeks caused it. I'm sure the fact that FI got 3 work calls in the middle of the night didn't help matters either.
No response on FI's comment to the groom. Which is unlike the groom honestly. He is probably mad at us. Oh well. No sweat off my back. I wanted to give FI a standing ovation for his comment. I kissed him a lot last night. We didn't talk about the situation this morning at all since FI was late for a meeting and I didn't feel well, but I definitely don't want to go. I am just waiting for FI to make his decision before reaching out to change our rsvp.
We picked out a stationer to design and print our letterpress invitations, and we may have her do the calligraphy on the envelopes as well. I did some research and a lot of posts by @swazzle came up about her. We are using Danielle Gonzalez Pagel of Dani Writes + Olive Press! She emailed me this morning to get more details about our custom design and told me she already started working on a draft. I'm super excited.
We are gathering addresses to send out Save The Dates, but I feel like the universe just doesn't want us to at the moment. We had the issue come up where we are no longer inviting the couple whose wedding is in a few weeks, another couple is getting a divorce and the guy won't talk to me (coworker) because I am also friends with her, family friends of FH are not on speaking terms with his parents currently, and I know I am forgetting something but the list just goes on and on. I feel like our guest list is getting whittled away every day! I guess that hopefully means more upgrades to hit our minimum.
Oh, and this new diet that FI and I are on is working wonders. He is down about 25 pounds and I just hit the 20 pound mark. We have only been on it for 3 months. We haven't changed our (almost non-existent) exercise habits at all. Coworkers have commented to both of us about how good we look and ask us what we are doing to lose weight.
@eilis1228 your hair looks great! I agree that the bump looks much more natural now. Also, where did you get your headband? I am looking for something similar and struggling to find one that I like.
@AuroraRose41 Congrats on the weight loss! What kind of diet are you guys doing? I can never do any kind of weight loss diets because they all involve food I don't like because I am the pickiest eater.
@speakeasy14 I've done the mani pedi I miss baths too. I'm trying to schedule a massage at some point
@jenjen047 If it gets really bad I can always take a half a day and leave. I'm not sure even how much of my systems will be back up and running either so it may be a light day work wise.
@jenjen047 oh yeah, I mean its about 10 weeks out so it isn't too crazy. I'm thinking since people are already planning holiday travel its a better idea to get them out early.
@lavenderfields13 thank you! We are on what is called a Ketogenic diet. The easiest way to put it is this: one of FI's coworkers jokingly asked him if he was on a bacon diet, and FI truthfully responded yes!
Basically, it is high fat, moderate protein, ultra low carb (<20g a day), and little to no sugar. So we eat things like chicken caesar salad without croutons, bacon and eggs, taco bowls without tortillas, homemade broccoli cheddar soup, etc. We go to Five Guys and order burger bowls when we don't feel like cooking (they will put the patties and all toppings in a bowl without the bun!). We can't eat pastas, breads, crackers, and even milk is bad (high carbs!). We use heavy cream in our coffee instead of half and half (heavy cream is 0 carbs while half and half is high carb), and drink almond milk instead of regular milk. We did make a "pizza crust" out of cheese, egg, and a little almond meal that came out fantastic.
Some of it has been difficult, but for the most part it has been easier for either of us to stick to then any other diet we have ever tried. Because we eat a lot of high fat foods, we get full quicker, so we don't end up eating as much in general. It's a diet based on science as well, because it keeps your insulin levels in check. It's actually really good for diabetics, but FI and I have found we have tons of energy now.
@AuroraRose41 We got it at the bridal salon. I do not recommend doing that because it was stupid expensive. My mom insisted on buying it right then and there because 1. I had the dress on, so we could see what accessories looked best without having to guess and 2. she was paying for it. LINK to a similar one I just found on Etsy that is reasonably priced.
@eilis1228 thank you for the Etsy link! OMG that headband might be perfect, and you can customize the pearl colors too.
And yea, I know the feeling. My veil was also stupid expensive, but it is a Bel Aire one, so it wasn't outrageous for the brand. Originally my mom was going to make my veil so when they told me how expensive that one was I almost fell over, but my mom said that it matched so perfectly that I had to get it. She didn't think she could make one quite as pretty and that would match quite so perfectly.
Holy chat, Batman! I'll be able to reply later - I'm stupid behind today.
So I got my StitchFix last night and was pretty damn disappointed. More details in the other thread, but I'm only keeping one piece and everything else is going back. Otherwise it's FOOTBALL tonight and that's awesome, so today is good no matter what else happens.
@AuroraRose41 Aw, yay! I'm glad my Etsy sleuthing paid off! We got the veil, headband, and belt at the bridal salon because my mom insisted they all went together perfectly and we would never be able to find anything so perfect on our own. *sigh* Oh well, it's her money, and my dress looks great! What does your veil look like again?
@jenjen047 Yeah like everyone else has said...it's technically against etiquette and all but I get that people are making vacation plans now. I wouldn't side eye.
@labro thanks I will look into them too! Yours was also very pretty!
@eilis1228 I am having some trouble finding it on the Bel Aire website so here is me in my dress with my veil again. The veil has crystal beading in the lace as well, which is hard to see in the picture:
ETA: I think this is the veil on the Bel Aire site: CLICKY
So.... instead of being a good adult and budgeting and planning out my shopping trip my first stop was Target and I accidentally played a game of "fill the basket!" and therefore had to put off clothes shopping until I get more money lol
@AuroraRose41 Glad you guys found something that works for you! I seriously could not survive without pasta and bread.
Honestly, I thought that would be really hard for me too. But I had been transitioning to a lower carb diet before FI and I started this, so I had been eating more salads or entrees with meat and veggies only. I love pasta, and I miss it sometimes, but I did find a low carb gnocchi recipe that I have been meaning to try (it's made with cheese and egg again), and I actually made biscuits a few weeks ago with coconut flour that came out amazing. One of my favorite snacks on this diet is mozzarella cheese and marinara sauce. So there are substitutes or ways to satisfy that craving without cheating.
I may make my vodka cream sauce this weekend and find something to put it over (maybe chicken and/or that gnocchi? Yum!).
ETA: Oh, I also made mini Blueberry muffins with coconut flour that were 2 carbs per muffin. Those plus some Kerrygold butter were heaven. FI and I ate those quickly lol!

Love vodka cream sauce! And blueberry muffins! And butter! lol I'm hungry now. H always comments on how much butter I smother on a roll. I have yet to convince him that butter actually isn't bad for you.

Hahaha sorry to make you hungry! I was just trying to illustrate that it actually isn't quite as hard as it sounds most of the time because there are awesome ways to "cheat" without actually cheating! I think the hardest part for me has been not being able to drink beer, because I love a local craft beer here in San Diego. But dry wine is okay in moderation and my go to drink while out has been a vodka soda with lime. Many liquors are low/no carb.

Yep! I'm not on the keto diet, but I try to stick to liquor when I'm being diet conscious. My go-to diet-friendly drink is vodka, water, and some Mio/Crystal Light flavor. The drink tastes like punch, is only about 60 calories, and I still get to enjoy myself while I'm out.
Re: Thursday
My coworker just brought me this bouquet from her garden! I've never thought to use hops amongst flowers before, but I love it!
@eilis1228 - I can't see your hair pictures on my work computer.
I promise I will look later!
