@beanbot2002 That app sounds really cool. Half the time I get sick I either don't want to go to the doctor, or I'll be too busy, or I'll be on the road for work and don't want to pay for urgent care. It sounds like a neat option to have.
@minskat30 I hope Raj's knee holds up until the surgery! Poor baby. Good luck at your doctor appointment today, I hope it eases your mind. That app sounds awesome, a friend of mine has something like that to watch her dog at home too.
For thanksgiving food, I think my favorite is probably sweet potatoes, either in casserole form with the brown sugar and pecans, or in the way my mom makes it with brown sugar/cinnamon and marshmallows. I'll probably adapt both recipes into one eventually. Mmmmm. Also love mashed potatoes and green beans. I can take or leave the turkey, give me all the side dishes!

I can't stop thinking about one of the homes my realtor showed me on Sunday. I keep thinking of how I would layout the space, how I would change or update certain areas, how it's such a great home and neighborhood for families. I drove there after work yesterday and it takes less than 10 minutes to get from my work parking garage to the house (without traffic, I leave slightly late every day to miss rush hour mess). When I relayed that info to my Mom she told me she and Dad drove up there to see it and walked around the yard and looked at the foundation and stuff. They really like the area and the exterior/yard of the house. My Dad commented that some deer ran away as they walked into the back yard, and then one of them (the deer...not my parents) pooped on the hillside. Of course my Dad would notice that, haha. I'm going back on Sunday with the realtor, my parents, and possibly BF to walk through it in daylight, and as long as no one else jumps in and makes an offer I might go for it. Very exciting, yet also nerve-wracking.

How late do you sleep on the weekends? I tend to wake up around 10 and then lay in bed until 11. Unless I'm sick or mega exhausted, then I can sleep as late as 1pm which basically ruins my day... but I won't do alarms on the weekend unless I must.
What's your morning ritual? Hit snooze a billion times, roll into a comfortable spot and curse that I need to get out of bed, put my leg on, start the coffee, pee, put on clothes, grab the coffee, leave. I put my makeup on at work. In case you haven't noticed I am NOT a morning person.
What are you wearing today? Purple Stitchfix blouse I thought for sure I was going to return (I'll post later in the thread, my first stitch!), black pants, black shoes, blue cardigan

@wink0erin good luck!! Make sure your realtor keeps you in the loop regarding how active the property is, I know everything I looked at was sold within hours, it's a very competitive market right now. That commute would be so amazing!

Alarm goes off at 7:30 (this will also be changing very very soon), I lay in bed and goof around on my phone until 7:40 or 7:50, then I either take a shower or wash my face (depends on when I last showered), put on some makeup, do my hair, make sure H is awake, make my lunch, and leave around 8:20 or 8:30.

So, last night was pretty awesome after I got the email that we'd been approved to adopt Louise. H and I basically spent the whole night researching all sorts of puppy things and putting together a cart of stuff we want to go ahead and purchase for her. I'm going to rename her Zoey, and I'm hoping to pick her up on Friday. I'm still waiting for the rescue/foster mom to get back to me with all the details. If we weren't going out of town for my grandmother's memorial Thursday, I'd be all over that pup now!

Anywho, it's basically a ghost town today at work, but I'm still behind from my 3-week vacation. It's harder for me to work when it's dead and the office is mostly empty than when I'm swamped. I can't seem to stay motivated. Total first world problem.

@untouchablets Have so much fun on your trip! What a great surprise! Re: uber-- If uber is in surge pricing around the airport, you may want to walk a few blocks away or maybe to a nearby hotel. The surge pricing is usually just in a certain area, so once you physically leave the area, you get normal pricing. However, I've never encountered surge pricing at the airport, but I also have never traveled via plane during a major holiday. Honestly, if the surge pricing is only 1.5 or 2 times the normal price, it's probably still cheaper to take an uber than to take a cab. You should also check out Lyft.

@minskat30 I hope you feel better ASAP! I also hope your OB visit goes well today! And ugh, I haaaaaate rude bitches at the gym. Sometimes gym rats are super cliquey, and it's so frustrating and discouraging. My favorite foods during the holidays is usually dessert lol. No, but really... I love banana pudding, anything chocolate, and cookies. So many cookies! As far as real food goes, I always look forward to ham, green bean casserole, mac n cheese, and rolls. Sometimes there's creamed corn, which I love too. Basically I love all the carbs.

@beanbot2002 that app sounds awesome! We have an onsite doctor at work, but he's only here twice a week. The nurse is here all the time though, but mainly for the foundry guys.

Last night's holiday party went so well! I had at least 4 plates of the bacon mac n cheese, and brought a whole container of it home for my bf.

When I got home, I changed into sweats and helped my bf move furniture into the house. Even though we got a fridge for free from my mom, he bought another one (because it was stainless so he liked it more). That was a project to get in our tiny house. After that we then had to get our tall dresser not only in the house, but up the stairs. I think my bf is still sleeping because he acquired a few injuries from the dresser. But at least we can start getting our clothes off the floor.

Tonight I am going to my sister's to watch PLL. I'm debating between cooking tomorrow night or early Thursday morning for Thanksgiving. We are meeting my bf's family at noon, and then my family after. I need to make a side dish and pecan pies.

Do you snooze in the morning? Technically, I do not hit the snooze, I just have two alarms set because the first alarm always causes my bf to grab me and snuggle.

How late do you sleep on the weekends? I try to sleep till 7... I'm lucky if the dog lets me sleep till 6:30 since she's used to getting up at 6 during the week.

What's your morning ritual? Turn off first alarm, snuggle with bf, check fb, turn off second alarm, pee, shower, do my makeup, feed Callie, make coffee, make lunch and grab something for breakfast, get dressed, kiss bf goodbye and usually leave him a reminder note, walk Callie and turn on my car (when it's cold), fill my coffee cup, leave for work. If it's a weekend the same except I don't warm up my car and I usually shower after my bf leaves for work.

As for me...for Thanksgiving I'm really looking forward to it. I also have a rant today....why are certain people so bitchy at the gym? There is this woman in my spin class and she always saves a bunch of bikes for her friends. She was a complete bitch to a new guy in the class yesterday who took one of "her" bikes and questioned whether he was actually in the class or on the "wait list" to get in because she hadn't seen him before. She acted like she fucking owned the class and even the instructor told her to calm down and her friend could go take the one other empty bike in the class. I felt terrible for the new dude. The class was full and I didn't want to escalate the situation but I felt like telling her to back off...thankfully the instructor did just that.

Pork tamales and Chicken Mole. You can't have christmas without them in a mexican household. I'll be completely honest...don't try making your mole from scratch. It takes forever and requires a thousand ingredients. The Dona Maria brand is fantastic. That's what we've always used since before I was born.

@eilis1228 - That's really great that you were approved! I know you've gotten your hopes up and were let down a lot lately so IMO you should meet her first and make sure she's a good fit for you and that you're a good fit for her before you get too attached. It's really exciting and I TOTALLY get that but all puppies are different and they all have different personalities. I'd hate for you to make all of these plans and buy a bunch of stuff and then she's not the right one for you guys.

@beanbot2002 - Tamales!!.... drool. I should have been clearer though...I'm only in charge of Christmas Eve dinner not Christmas Day and I would never in a million years try to attempt tamales on Christmas Day for BIL and his family. My BIL's sisters make them for Christmas Day. Their tamales are to DIE for. She must put crack in them. I'm really tempted now though to try a Mole for Christmas Eve (though not from scratch...like you mentioned, its hell). Really great idea! Maybe that with an Indian dish and a Danish desert (because, lets be honest...Danish food, other than desert, is not as tasty as Mexican or Indian) will satisfy everyone.

@minskat30 My Christmas dinners are not that exciting. We have pirogis, beer batter fish, beer batter shrimp, shrimp scampi, some kind of pasta... basically anything beige. My mom and I keep sliding in something with a vegetable to add some color and my uncle has recently started bringing a ham.

@untouchablets usually Uber provides your first ride for free. I've found their pricing to be a little more than a cab, but it is a much nicer vehicle and they usually have them stocked with drinks.

@jenna8984 This house has was on the market in spring of this year, was pulled and the seller made some repairs and replaced the roof before relisting again a couple months ago. I'll be sure to know specifically what repairs were made. The market where I'm at isn't as competitive, but good places tend to sell quick since there aren't many of them!

@speakeasy14 Girl, you have some fancy ubers in your area! I've never had drinks in the ones I've taken, not even in San Francisco where they're headquartered! I took an Uber Black over the weekend, and we didn't get free drinks there either. I need to move to your 'hood ASAP!

@Swazzle I believe there's an adjustment period in case we aren't a good fit for each other. I'm still waiting to hear back about all the final details from the foster mom/rescue. All I got last night around 5 was an email that said, "Congratulations! You have been approved to adopt Louise! When are you able to pick her up?" I responded with a few questions, and I also still need to pay the adoption fees. The stuff in our Amazon cart could be used for any pup. It's stuff like toys, shampoo, toothpaste and toothbrush, a gate to block off the office area, etc. None of it is necessarily specific to this dog, just stuff we would need for any puppy.

@minskat30 It's super easy. Parboil some thighs, then use the broth from that to make your sauce. Chop the mole from the jar into smaller chunks to ease the dissolving process. Just add a little broth at a time. Start out with about 1-2 cups of broth then add a ladle at a time until you reach your desired consistency. It should be thick, similar consistency as a bechamel. Then add your thighs to that and let it simmer for 20 minutes or so. Keep stirring it and adding broth as needed. It will continue to thicken, so you have to stay on top of it or it will burn to the bottom of the pan.
We just serve it over rice. With a side of beans, of course.
