@speakeasy14 FTR I have the Paragard so I promise this isn't coming from a "MINE IS THE BEST" mentality. :) It just perplexes me since I know there are at least 3 major IUD brands on the market, one specifically marketed to young women (while Mirena tends to be marketed to moms), and nobody seems to be told about it. My doctor gave me brochures on all three so I could compare them but she recommended either the Skyla or the Paragard based on my history.

  • @labro @speakeasy14 - That's really weird to me too! My doctor said I could do any of them but recommended Skyla specifically since I haven't given birth.

  • @labro re: recommendations: my doc told me they were the same cost and since I would really, really, really like to not have kids for a long time, he suggested the Mirena because it would last longer. He said, and I quote, "It's like getting two free years out of it. Common sense to me."

@speakeasy14 the copper one is Paraguard

    Aggghhhh I hate listicles!!!

  • WWYD- We're trying to organize and get the house in order and pare down unnecessary shit. I have this huge, solid, heavy cedar hope chest that was apparently passed down to me. We really have no space for it in any room, our house is modest/small-ish so the rooms basically only fit bedroom furniture or living room furniture. We don't have like random tables or bookshelves that are just "decorative".

I just asked my mom what the deal is with this thing and she said that it was my grandmother's, and that she (mom) has no sentimental attachment to it and I am free to get rid of it if I want to. I'm kind of torn, I could keep it in my garage just to maybe pass down one day and keep in the family but is it worth it? Would you keep it or ditch it?

  • Can I add to the list??

#10 - ASSUMING you're a bridesmaid and telling your little sister how you're SO EXCITED and she just needs to get married already so you can wear a pretty dress and take her out to a male strip club for her bachelorette, even though she's not even engaged yet and hates the idea of strange men dancing naked in front of her.

(This was my older sister last weekend.)

@jenna8984 if you have space to store it, could you use it as something to store off-season clothes?  We just did this with a trunk that I got in college.  If you don't have the space and no sentimental value, I say sell it.

@alpacina hahaha omg, what was your reaction?  Btw I've seen male strippers live and they are waaaaaay more entertaining than female strippers.

@jenna8984 - That's a tough one! I'm one of those people that thinks if I don't have room then it's not the kind of thing I'm going to hold onto. I have a small box that my grandpa made that fits on a shelf. Easy peasy, definitely keeping that. My BF has his great uncle's desk, which is massive and not good looking. But, there's a story about it being a gift from a high class "escort" whom he eventually married (I guess it's enormous enough to be a suitable surface for BANGING), so there is no freaking way he's getting rid of it.

Is there anyone else in the family you can think of that would take it?

    God, I hate that desk.

We are doing this in Chicago, though, no? ;)

  • @jenna8984 - I would definitely keep it. I want to see a pic of it!

  • @TwoDimes - I could have so much more of a better time around female strippers. Watching Magic Mike is about as close as I'll ever get to going to a male strip show. I'm sure of it.

(cc: @speakeasy14) My sister already has her tickets to go to Thunder From Down Under for the THIRD TIME.

@twodimes hahaha I saw Australia's Thunder from Down Under twice a few years ago, I would see them again.  I'm also the girl that has gone to regular strip clubs and tells the strippers to stay on the pole and earn their money

    edit - @AlPacina it's because they're freaking gorgeous!!!

  • @jenna8984 I'd probably keep it because I love family items like that, ESPECIALLY if they are good quality and made from good materials. But if you have no attachment and no one else does either, it's up to you.

  • @alpacina hahahahaha that desk story is fantastic. you should bang on it....if you haven't already....

@swazzle I'll get a pic when I get home. It's painted this hideous orange with light blue inside because my dipshit aunt "didn't like the smell of cedar". Um that's the best smell ever. So if I kept it, would definitely need to talk H into stripping it, which would probably be a pain in the ass (to get the inner corners).

  • @speakeasy14 - You're officially invited to my bachelorette.

Unless you'd rather go with my sister instead, haha.

  • @jenna8984 - WTF?! That's the most ridiculous thing ever. I can't wait to see it!

  • @jenna8984 who paints a cedar chest?? The whole point is that the cedar protects shit and makes it smell old and special. I say keep it if you can manage it.

  • @audrewuh OMG crying right now.

    @jenna8984

    Your aunt is crazy.

  • @audrewuh Right?! My mom says it's good for storing "woolens". I'm like well I don't live in 1930 so I really don't anything woolen! And the paint probably ruins that aspect...but I think if H will strip it, it's probably worth keeping.

  • @jenna8984  Keep it but definitely repaint it. Maybe look at a nice stain but see what the original looks like. Hope chests are hard to say, but you may want later for your son's stuff or something? We have 2 hope chests that neither of us want to part with - one is being used as a coffee table currently.
