In some cases I can see that the "Freebie" aspect will wear out.   I think you should expect to pay to ship something back to return it IF the reason for the return is that you simply don't want to keep it.   If the reason for the return is a defect or delay then by all means I think they need to pay.

^^^ I hate clothing retailers with this policy because it's so hard to know how something will fit. I would rather order a few sizes and ship the ones i don't want back (or return free in a physical store) rather than go through a convoluted exchange process if the first item doesn't fit as expected.

This is why I recently paid more to order a swimsuit from Zappos rather than from Swimsuits for All - I ordered the same suit in 3 sizes from Zappos, got it in a day, tried them on, kept one, and sent the others back a day later for a full refund - free shipping all the way. Swimsuits for All charges you for return shipping if you don't exchange essentially like for like, and it becomes a convoluted mess that takes months of calls and e-mails to sort through.
YES!  That really irritated me about S4A.  Thankfully, I have enough suits now that I won't need to buy any this summer, but I'd think twice before ordering from them again.
I bought a couple of suits from S4A a few years back and haven't bothered since. They still fit fairly well (after multiple rounds of exchanges and the months long refund drama), but they're getting worn/faded so I wanted something new for our cruise. It's stupid that you can't get swimsuits in December - even Zappos only had a few styles available.
All of this about sizing. Until brands decide to standardize sizing or their clothes actually fit if you order according to the sizing chart, they should pay to ship it back if it doesn't fit. A few months ago, I bought a ton of shirts from JCPenney. They had a sale so I got six or seven tops for about $100. I had to send every. Single. One. Back. Even though I didn't think I should wear a large, I ordered larges because that's what the sizing chart said. All of them hung off me. Most of them probably would have fit in medium, but one was so big I should have ordered a small. I was so so so so mad!!!

A few days ago, I was looking on Motherhood Maternity for some maternity tops. The sizing chart, again, indicated large. I called my sister (who's been pregnant before) and asked her recommendation on ordering down. I ended up not ordering from them. The next day, I went to a thrift store and bought several maternity tops, including one from Motherhood Maternity. Guess what size it was? Blankety blank medium!!!

And I can't trust pattern sizing anymore either. A few weeks ago, I decided to sew myself a sweater. I went by the pattern sizing chart and cut out the size large. Sewed the pieces all together following the pattern and using the standard 5/8" seam allowance (which the pattern said to). Again, it hung off me. I took it in close to an inch on each side, which, based on how far apart the size lines are on the pattern pieces, is close to two full sizes!!

I do not understand how sizing charts can be so wrong! I know I'm measuring myself correctly.
  • @lovesclimbing motherhood sizing is wonky. I had a bunch of items from there and then ordered some more in the same size and none of it fit. Even things like a graphic T in a large ran small and then another graphic T in a large ran big. Definitely frustrating if you don't have a local store for returns. Pants fit fine but shirts were hit or miss

Yes!!!  I have often wondered "what is up with that"!?!?  Not so much for shirts, but men's pants sizes are literally their measurements.  What a brilliant and obvious frickin' concept.  Why aren't women's?  Why are we tortured our whole lives with completely random sizing?  That is even random within the same brand/manufacturer.

On a different clothing vent, what is with zippers that have two pieces of hardware (on the side with the pull tab) instead of one.  So you have to thread the little flat steel piece through both of them.  Which is sometimes very difficult, if not impossible.  I see zero point to it other than it is annoying as f**k.

  • Long story short, my work provides free flu shots, but there was some kind of billing mistake and Walgreens has sent a $4 bill to all the employees who got one.

We got an e-mail from HR it was resolved, but to double check with Walgreens.

So I called their customer service number.  The hours for it are 8:00AM-4:30PM.

I get an auto-recording that they are experiencing especially high call volume.  They also give advice that they experience especially high call volume between the hours of 11:00AM-4:30PM.

This is more a LMAO than a vent.  But I was thinking, "So, you experience especially high call volume during the majority of your hours.  Ummm...okay, then hire more people?"  Man, look at me just making sense again, lol.

  • In 5 days, I'll officially be 9 months pregnant. A friend of mine I've had since high school has a pregnant daughter. They are doing a sex reveal party at her house Saturday (weather permitting). Friend broke her foot 2 weeks ago, refused a cast, takes her boot off to drive for uber, and complains about her foot hurting. She is hinting at me in text messages to come clean her house. How about no?

Maybe be passive-aggressive and say "yeh cleaning is hard, especially being basically 9 months pregnant!" or something equally snarky so she gets the hint
  • @MissKittyDanger she's used to people being PA with her so that might literally be the only way to get through to her.
  • Remind her that you haven't seen your toes in months and can't bend over so you can only clean things that are waist high, and even then there is no guarantee your belly won't knock something over and break it.
I bean dipped her. I bean dip her a lot I've noticed. I am quickly losing my patience with her because she's constantly bitching about crappy circumstances that are her own creation.

Tell her that you'll bring a large amount of water with you.    For free.

  • I had some blood drawn yesterday and now have a huge bruise in the crook of my right arm. I'm right-handed.

    Ugh that is the WORST!!!!

brutal :( how's it feeling now? I'm right-handed and my right arm is only one that can guarantee complying with the nurse/tech/etc

Better today, but it will be colorful for a while yet. I bruise easily to begin with, and the nurse who drew my blood had a hard time finding a vein.
  • You know who I hate? "The experts."

You know the ones who tell you to avoid wine if you cant sleep but it's the only thing that works.

Or worse yet, the experts who say to avoid fatty foods and work out to reduce menstual cramps. Really, you think a treadmill will stop me from bending over in pain intermittently?!

    Meanwhile, I'm over here like

I have always found the "don't drink alcohol if you have trouble sleeping, it actually makes things worse" to be confusing.  That has never been my experience.  Like, that's the polar opposite of my experiences.  They claim you don't sleep as deeply, so it is not a "good quality" sleep.  WTF?!?  Alcohol induced slumber is some of the BEST sleep.  I wake up feeling so rested.

I mean, I'm not promoting drink alcohol all the time to sleep well.  But don't lie to me either, lol.

That's one of those things that definitely depend on the person so I hate that they've made it a blanket "rule." If I take something to help me sleep, I feel like I didn't sleep at all the next day.

Absolutely, alcohol...in a lot of ways...can affect people very differently.  It doesn't surprise me it can be a bad sleep for some people.  That is what "science" says happens.

But scientists can tell me until the cows come home that I'm getting less REM sleep (or whatever) when I drink alcohol.  For me, my best sleep is after I've had a few drinks.

  • FI sleeps horribly after more than 3 drinks. I take the recommended dosage of NyQuil and sleep for 18 hours and still wake up groggy. Different strokes. So leave my wine and peanut butter snickers alone!

  • Vent about side effects for meds!
I do things to prevent to help them and I STILL got side effects. Uncomfortable :(

    Whyyyyy *sigh*
  • I think I'm getting sick and I'm so annoyed.  I don't want to take Nyquil because I'm sure sensitive to it and it gives me crazy rebound insomnia if I take it for a few days consistently.  I already have insomnia so then it's just a thousand times worse.

Aww, hope you feel better soon!
  • @Heffalump  every time I see things about toys getting mold inside, all I can think is that if this is a bath toy, seal the opening to avoid mold .... it just seems logical. It doesn't work forever, but long enough to be fine lol

TL;DR: not surprisingly, a toy that children chew on will grow mold when exposed to warm, moist conditions.  And people are losing.their.shit on FB.  It keeps popping up in my feed, probably because some of DS's friends' have younger sibs.

I mean, I'm not saying you should give your child a hunk of mold to chew on.  But WTF did you think would happen?  Have you ever had a bath toy, even as a kid?  Moisture gets in there, mold grows, you toss it.  You don't have to clutch your pearls get all

Have you ever had a moldy apple in your house?  Did you lose your mind, or did you keep it out of your mouth and toss it away?  Jeebus, you'd think they found anthrax in them or something.

TBH, I would be way more worried if something didn't grow in there than if it did.
Some chick in a mommy group on facebook was screaming about Juicy Juice the other day because it had mold in it and telling people not to buy that brand. She posted a picture of the bottle and it was advertising a movie that came out 7 months ago. It was obviously expired. Then, just to prove that common sense is not a flower that grows in every garden, other mommy's were saying that they didn't know you were supposed to refrigerate juice after opening so they were putting it in the cabinet.
