Night people bat signal

  • I think she is around my age. 23 or 24 or something. I agree with Beachy though. I know they make you put lots of info on those intake forms (friends of mine have auditioned).

  • it's cold out, and I really thought it was a lot later than it is.  But I don't want to go out.  And I have my fleece pajama pants on, and we all know the world will stop spinning if I go out in public in pajama pants :)

  • My favorite AI audition of all time was that guy who sang "Like A Virgin" who had a weird voice. I think his name was Keith. He was on one of the earlier seasons. He was a creeper.

  • At the time my sister was 4 hours away, which wasn't too bad.  She's now 9 hours away which sucks because for my nephew's first 9 months of life I went and visited every 6 weeks.  Now that he's at a more fun age (just turned 2) I want to go visit, but can't do it like I used to.

When he was born (2 weeks early), I had gone up to her house for Thanksgiving, to see New Moon, and to help her clean out her classroom.  Instead of going to school Monday morning, she & BIL went to the hospital and I did some house cleaning for her and went to lunch with a friend who lives nearby before I went to the hospital.  I stayed for 10 days or so and then came back 3 weeks later for Christmas.
  • I feel like too many of these people are showing off big voice runs, and I'm bored of it.

Apparently if you wear cupcake pajama pants it's open invitation for the cable guy to hit on you. At least that's what mine thought this morning. I think I forgot to mention the cupcake pants in my afternoon thread.

  • Yeah I agree MuSu.  A lot of them try way too hard.

  • I'm not watching AI. I used to watch it, but only the audition episodes. Now I just can't get it up for the show.

  • um wtf. What a disturbing cliffhanger to end on.

  • Holly,

I was just catching up on this thread and realized you're going to Memphis.  Lucky!  H & I spent 1 day/night there while visiting H's aunt and uncle in Nashville during Memorial Day weekend of 2010.

We're seriously considering going back since we're (sorta) within driving distance now.  Even if just for some Gus's Fried Chicken. Yum.

  • For some reason, I've never been able to get into AI.
  • Your comment about the drivers in LA made me nervous, Tracy. One of the schools J is looking to for grad school is LSU. Now maybe I don't wanna be a driver there! haha.

  • Well, I'm going to head for bed early.  For a brief moment when I got home from work tonight I thought it was Thursday, and then I realized it wasn't.  It was so disappointing.  I want tomorrow to be Friday.
  • And they have been advertising that girl fainting since last week.  Of course they waited til the last minute and carried it over until tomorrow.

Once the regular show starts I like to DVR it and fast forward just to the singing parts.  Then I would google results because I didn't want to wait through that.  Man I miss the west coast and being able to google shows like AI and The Bachelor.

No kidding. I wasn't really paying attention... did she trip? Pass out? Was that the young lady whose S/O just had a stroke?
  • Congrats to your cousin Strzl!!
    image
  • Yeah I should've figured they would leave it til tomorrow. I have no idea what happened, Kelly. It wasn't the girl with the S/O that had a stroke though.

Beachy I do the same thing with the performance eps, I hate listening to the commentary.

  • No Kelly that was a different girl.  It looks like she fainted.

  • Congrats to Stlrz' cousin.  New babies are usually so cute.

They are pretty bad.  I only driven at night a couple of times in the 3 months I've been here.  I'm kind of a nervous (but good) driver.  I was just telling H last night that I'm learning to drive like an a$$hole. I'll get creamed if I don't.  The moves these drivers make defy logic. We seriously shake our heads.  And I come from Southern California where people say driving is bad.  I think some areas/freeways are really congested but the drivers themselves are not as stupid.

But now that I scared you even more, J should still apply! LOL. What is he studying? H is at LSU for grad school.

Yikes! I am a normally aggressive driver (as in I don't drive like a grandma but I also don't tailgate people like a jerkface), but that sounds kinda scary. I am pretty sure J is going to apply. He would be going for his masters in Civil Engineering once I graduate from law school next spring. We are looking at southern schools for a different pace for a few years.

  • Night Loopy!

I'm tempted to log off myself for the night and bust out my Kindle and read for a while. For the life of me, I can't figure out why I decided to start a 450 page book when I'm first in line for an e-book from the library.  I don't know if I can manage two books at once.

That's cool.  Don't let it dissuade you though.  LSU is a great school and Baton Rouge is actually not a bad place to live; I miss So Cal like mad but it's going to be ok for a few years. You just have be on high alert and ready for anything when you're on the road.

H only just started his second semester of a 3 year program in Landscape Architecture so we'll be here for a while.  If you need any info on the school, area, or anything let me know and I'll talk to H.

Also, being so close to New Orleans is super fun!  For reals! lol. I never get tired of that place.

Hello!  You must visit sometime.  I think New Orleans should be on everyone's bucket list.  I can't wait to go there for Mardi Gras next weekend.  Bring on the daiquiris!

And beignets are awesome.  We have to go to Cafe du Monde every time and luckily just found a pretty good place here in BR.

    Congrats on the bling.

*Edited for spelling...I really should know how to spell daiquiri here.

  • Good to know tracy! Yeah we are only gonna be where ever we decide to go for a few years, then back up to the tundra. ;)

  • That's our plan too, MuSu.  Grad school, then a year (1 year only!) on the East Coast or possibly even Europe for H to get experience with a big firm, then back to So Cal FOREVER!  We still have our house there, I'm just hoping we don't outgrow it before we return.  I love it so much.
