There are people missing.

Re: There are people missing.

  • Yeah they are really gross to me. Luckily, we haven't seen that much of them lately. V just sucks them in a vacuum. I like to sing the super V theme song when he does it.

  • I close TK so that I actually get a little bit of work done and then I come back to see what's going on and I see 21 new posts so I have to click and check it out and then I'm just all weirded out again.

So off the topic of creepy crawlies...I stayed home yesterday to get some painting done. The only thing I painted was my nails. So I had to go into work today because someone who does not have keys to shop booked an early appointment (why!?!? bad person!) and I said I'd go because I'm nice (and live the closest). So of course today, I'm all inspired and want to paint.

Brought sketch pad and I'm gonna go home early.
I had yesterday off to unwind from traveling and intended to go to the gym, even skipped a group lunch so I could go... and remembered on the way out the door that I recently cancelled my individual membership in favor of using FI's free guest privileges, and he was at work so I couldn't go. Boo. So I painted my cornhole boards instead and now my hands are all fun colors.

    Those look great!
  • I just want to say that I now feel like thousands of bugs are crawling on me... that's what I get for continuing to read this thread *sigh*
  • Killing bugs is DH's job.  It's a total man job, and about the only one he has that I refuse to do.  Unless I've got the vacuum nearby, though I still worry the spiders will live in the tank and crawl back out one day.

I moved into the basement of our house when I was about 12 and loved it for the first 4 days until a giant (probably only quarter sized actually) hairy spider ran across my bed while I was sitting on it.  I've also woken up with spider bites down my back and legs.  I will never again live in a basement.

@MagicInk are you on the Treehouse?  I think you'd like it.

I am not, but I'll have to go check it out. I did look at it once to see what it was.

Come join us! You'll fit right in.

Once I was playing with a pretty little green spider and FI ate him.

    Ate him. For a joke.

  • FI has spider duty, too, but for him that means putting a cup over it, sliding a piece of paper underneath and then taking them outside. No squishy squish.

The bat thing reminded me of a story: My dad was an up and coming housing director at a small college in a small midwestern town. There was a bat in the house and my dad was freaking out a little bit, so he called animal control. They told him they couldn't do anything about it, but they knew the perfect guy to call! That housing director guy over at the college! My dad.
  • We have more and larger spiders where we just moved than where we lived previously.  And these ones are big!  Like the size of a quarter or a dollar coin!  I get that may not be big to some of you, but it is to me.  I hate them!  There was one in our dish washer a couple days ago.  this morning, I lifted some stuff and there was a small one. there was also one sitting on top of some of my clothes the other day.

At least it's an incentive to keep the house REALLY clean because they tend to like darker areas and corners and such.  Also, I can see them easier.

Oh, you know what else? Did anyone else read Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark?

You know what story where the spider lays eggs IN the woman and then her wound breaks open and baby spiders come out?

That shit freaks me out. I had a weird bite on my chest recently that wouldn't heal, and I was fairly convinced I was going to bust out in spiders one day. (It has since healed spider-free.) Gawd.
You know the worst part, is that there was an actual drawing of the the split open face with hundreds of spiders coming out of her face.

    I remember that story CLEARLY.

    agh.

Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark, was fucking twisted shit. But the illustrations that went along with the stories, were even more fucked and probably scared me for life in ways I can't even begin to understand.

DUDE YES. Those books made my childhood. I need to get my hands on those with the original artwork.

  • V refuses to ever live in a basement apartment. He lived in one once and the spider problem was so bad they just came out of the carpet like a horror movie. Poor guy had to live in a tent so he could sleep.
