Re: Walking Dead!!! *Show Spoilers only!!*

  • One of my co-workers told me the Andrea theory, so I googled it on Monday. It definitely wasn't her. I'm too lazy to type out the explanation but here's a good article: http://comicbook.com/2014/10/14/was-that-walker-andrea-in-the-walking-dead-season-5-premiere-/

Sorry to dig this thread back up...but was talking to a coworker yesterday and he said that they alluded that Andrea came back as a zombie and was one of the zombies Carol killed by the tracks?! Did anyone else see that?  I guess the zombie had the same clothes and a dangling handcuff with a gunshot wound to the eye?

DH and I did a double take at that! I think it was her.

  • She would have had to have shot herself in the head but missed the brain for her to be a zombie. I don't buy it.

  • Eh, I could buy it.  People do all sorts of strange things in real life and survive (like getting impaled through the brain and surviving intact).  It's not a total stretch to imagine that she shot upwards and removed the front part of her face while missing her brain.  Man that was gruesome to type out.

  • I just watched this and loved it! I was on the edge of my seat for the killing trough scene and in the cabin when Judith was being threatened.

I think I ended up with more questions than were answered tho.

    Where the heck is Beth!
Here's my theory on what will happened:
The baddies that pillaged Terminus are the people who took her.

Carol found Daryl's bow, but where is Michonne's sword?

Why were they killing and chopping up the bodies?
And why do you guys think they were eating humans? I missed that train of thought completely.

I guess I should have rewatched the last episode of last season.

I think that's what was happening in the graphic novels so it's kind of implied in the show even though you never see it.

Because why else would they be butchering the bodies? And making so many references to being butchers?

TBH, my brain went there the second everybody walked into Terminus and saw that lady barbecuing all that meat. Where else would she have gotten it from?

  • Regarding the whole eating the bodies thing, it would provide a lot of meat.
About that dude that says he knows the cure, I don't trust him.  Part of me thinks it is all BS somehow.
I totally want Carol and Daryl to hook up.
And that one walker that had the cuffs on and people were thinking it might have been what's-her-name, it did seem like the people filming were trying to emphasize/point out something.  IDK.

The directors and editors definitely focused on that walker, without question. I mean, with 45 minutes of total film time, why take the extra few seconds to showcase that particular walker, and take the costuming step to specifically add the one handcuff detail? And they did, no doubt about it.

My theory is that it was an "Easter egg." A little inside joke/tribute to Andrea's character. That happens.

Yep, this is my thought. It definitely wasn't her, but it was supposed to make people think that it was.
  • Um. Any doubts about the cannibalism now?

Holy fuck man. We about lost our shit watching that scene.

I didn't realize that not everyone thought they were cannibals!!! I'm a comic reader though.

That last scene was still horrifying. It would be even worse(better) if it was a character that we actually care about.

Who seriously gives a shit about Bob? It always seems like they forced him on us. I was thinking he actually got bit when he went underwater, and was crying in the graveyard about it. I also sort of expected him to off himself because he was bit.

I kind of think it was stupid for carol and daryl to run off after that car, honestly. Who knows how big of a group that is, and now your own group are going to be all worried about where you went. Or they will think you snuck off to bang and not be worried. Maybe they just plan on scouting and coming back with everyone else? I can't believe they think beth is still alive with all these cannibals and rapists running around.

She probably is still alive, because that's the storytelling we get.

They've already shown that she is alive in trailers for this season.

I honestly keep forgetting about Bob as a character. He's not as developed as any of the other characters and just falls flat for me. I feel like they could kill him off and pretty much nothing about the show would change.

  • Thoughts on tonight's episode:
I thought Bob had been bitten in the zombie swamp basement. He was limping. I assumed that's why he was outside crying.
I hope to hell I'm right, because I'm hoping the Terminus gang is all eating tainted Bob.
(How did they know Bob's name? I don't know this. Is he a former Terminus resident?)

And Father Gabriel? Shady as all hell. Is he luring people to the Terminus Catering Company, or to the kidnapping/rapist gang? Either way, he'd never have survived alone, food bank donations or no.

Also, where the hell is Morgan? He's out there skulking around somewhere.
  • Bob nearly gets himself killed in every episode.

DH had the "he's crying cuz he got bit" thought too, but now that they all have the virus and turn when they die, does it still matter if they get bit??

Gabriel is definitely up to no good. He was way too clean.

They turn quicker I believe. An actual bite is lethal, leading to them turning shortly after they die. DH thought he had been bit too. I was hoping not, because I really like Bob and Tasha together. I think I'm more sad for Tasha. Although I'm really upset by what they did to Bob. No one should have to watch what they forced him to watch.

That's why I feel they wasted the scene with Gareth eating his leg. Imagine that scene with a good character!!!

I actually didn't watch any of the trailers, so that explains that! I like beth, I'm glad she's still alive. I was convinced they would find her partially eaten in teminus.

  • FI and I both thought Bob got bitten as well. I also wondered why they knew his name, maybe from the time he was at terminus? I also wondered if they were one of originals groups he was with and got away.

Also, I pointed out to FI last night that there is no way a group of cannibals would be functioning that well. Cannibalism causes a person to basically go crazy. As many people as they eat, they would be insane.

I think Gabriel is bad news. I'm really interested to see what his story turns out to be.

Carol and Daryl are going to kick ass when they find Beth (I hope, being optimistic...)

So... you're saying you don't think they're crazy??

ETA and yeah, he was with the group the Termites initially pretended to play nice with, so they would have known his name.

Haha definitely crazy but from what I've read, it can make them almost not able to function properly.

LOL, I was thinking the same thing too.  You have to be pretty insane to start eating people to begin with.

I figured they knew Bob's name because they were watching the group and just overheard it.

Cannibalism by itself doesn't cause insanity. There are a couple of diseases (similar to Mad Cow disease for people) that can be transmitted by cannibalism, and those do cause insanity- one is called kuru, and I forget the other one. If I'm not mistaken, it's specifically transmitted by eating human brains.

Disclaimer- I am not really weird or scary for knowing this. Do not judge me.

ETA: there it is: http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kuru_(disease) but I can't find or remember the other one.

I was going to comment that I don't think cannibalism itself causes insanity, but you would have to  be pretty insane to do what they do. And there is no way any circumstance involving cannibalism doesn't cause some significant trauma.

  • I didn't think there was any secret that the Terminite were cannibals. It's the apocalypse...where were the otherwise getting hoards of meat?

Anyways, I loved last night's episode! I'm glad they are speeding things along this season. If this had been the last few seasons, they'd still be in the train car at Terminus.
  • During the last scene with Bob and his leg being eaten, they panned down to his now missing leg and when he started freaking out and the guy was eating a piece of the leg H was all "What is going on?  Why is that guy freaking out?"  I yelled "OMG how are you not seeing that Bob is missing a leg and all the crazy terminite people are eating meat?!"  Then H was all "Oooohhhh, gotcha."  Oh how I love my H's oblivious nature sometimes.
