FAVORITE DRINK (boozy or not): Dr Pepper and red wine, separately of course

ANYTHING ELSE? It's a little intimidating to just jump in around here since you all seem so tight knit, but everybody has been nice so far!
  • @jimandpam87 Are you at a Big 4 firm? Are you one of the freaks that actually enjoys public accounting? Have you taken any parts of the exam yet? I don't have enough credits to sit in MA and I aint spending the money to earn them so I will never take it. I did audit my first year out of college at a big firm and absolutely hated it so when they laid me off I was stoked. I got into staff accountant positions and I'd never go back to audit.

My favorite aunt lives in Albuquerque! It's a beautiful city. Her house is on a cliff over the Rio Grande so hot air balloons go right past her living room windows all the time. I miss that place so much!

WHERE IS YOUR SO FROM? Metro-Detroit

WHAT DO YOU DO FOR WORK?  dick around on TK while being paid to be an analytics ninja/manager for an ad agency

    AND YOUR SO? B2B sales

ANY KIDS? Workin' on it! ;-)

PETS?  Chinese Crested hairless dog named Willy (aka Wilbur and Wilberto and Wilhelm) and English Pointer named Bryn (aka Brynny Boo-Boo). But H thinks Willy needs a more "butch" name to compensate for his stature and general hairlessness, so he calls him Bill.

WHAT'S YOUR FAVORITE CHEESE? What is this, Sophie's Choice? If I had to choose, it would be brie (on a slice of Granny Smith apple, drizzled with honey). Don't tell the others.

FAVORITE DRINK (boozy or not):  At home, red wine. At a wedding, 7&7. At work (yes we drink at work), wheat beer. On vacation, sangria.

WHERE IS YOUR SO FROM? Also Southern California

WHAT DO YOU DO FOR WORK? I work for a factory based in China.

AND YOUR SO?  SO is a civil engineering supervisor.

ANY KIDS?  Not yet.  Way too much school to finish before all that happens.

PETS? SO has a bitch cat (I normally love cats, but she seriously is a total bitch, even to him sometimes.  The other day she bit him on the lip and slapped him in the face simultaneously). We also live with SO's siblings, so they have two dogs and a cat, and my dog is at my parent's house.

WHAT'S YOUR FAVORITE CHEESE? All of it!  But especially extra sharp cheddar.

FAVORITE DRINK (boozy or not): TEA.  I love it.  I was born in the wrong country.  Forget soda.  If there are any tea lovers out there, Harney and Sons makes excellent quality tea.

ANYTHING ELSE? I'm really glad I found TK.  You all are a solid bunch with some great advice (wedding related or not).  I love that we have such intelligent, open, and honest debates, and I appreciate hearing well thought out and differing views from my own.

PETS? Two tabby cats: Jabba the Hut and Princess Leia.

WHAT'S YOUR FAVORITE CHEESE? ALL kinds!

ANYTHING ELSE? I'm a terrible procrastinator.

    Feeleytobe yay another recruiter :)
Are you corporate or agency.  I've done both.  Even though I know it's their job, the agency recruiters are driving me nuts lately.  I work at large company in Chicago, so I kid you not I get 5-7 calls EVERY day from agencies.

And they all "just want 15 minutes of your time."  Um, that would be 6-8 hours a WEEK of my time wasted because we RARELY have approval to work with agencies.

I try to be nice, but if someone asks me more than twice if they can come by, I get a little nasty.
  • levioosa I'm a total tea lover! (Had to quit coffee cuz of my stomach, but even before that I loved tea). I love love love chamomile for when I wanna get cozy, and I drink either Earl Grey or English Black Breakfast every morning. But I don't think I've ever tried a tea I didn't like!

On rare occasions I put some cream and sugar in my Early Grey and it is so very delicious!

  • Oh yay!! I regretted not introducing myself when I first joined.

SCREEN NAME: MrsDee15 (I think... I can't see it right now)

RELATIONSHIP STATUS: Engaged until about 5pm on August 15, 2015, when that will change!

WHERE ARE YOU FROM?  San Diego, CA, born and raised.

WHERE IS YOUR SO FROM?  Portland, OR.

WHAT DO YOU DO FOR WORK?  Hospital defense attorney.

    AND YOUR SO?  In-house counsel.

ANY KIDS?  Not yet, but just suddenly we're both very ready to start trying.  As soon as our honeymoon is over (we're going to Oktoberfest so... can't try then) we will begin trying!

PETS?  Three furmonsters: two cats and a dog.

WHAT'S YOUR FAVORITE CHEESE?  Pretty much all of them.  In no particular order, I am especially enthusiastic about: triple creme, brie, burrata, fresh mozzerella (buffalo or regular), bleu cheese, manchego, gouda, goat cheese (especially the Winey Goat), good cheddar, camembert... I know I'm missing some.  Basically all the cheese.

FAVORITE DRINK?  Oooooh hard one.  I like red wines, but also like dirty martinis, martinis with lemon juice and basil, vodka soda with extra lime, and IPAs.   If it's not alcoholic I guess I like water?  Not really into sweet drinks.

ANYTHING ELSE?  I despise mayonnaise.  Some restaurants try to tell me aioli is different - aioli is just mayonnaise shrouded in lies. I am so excited to actually get to talk about mayonnaise preference.

WHERE IS YOUR SO FROM? NY State; that nebulous region that Manhattanites refer to as upstate, but true upstaters insist it is not

Oh, this must be like where I'm from in central MA. Boston and south shore people call it western MA but it's certainly not it's right in the middle lol

    @jenna8984

Exactly! I guess to folks from NYC, everything is upstate, but our friends from 'true upstate' towns like Syracuse and Utica strongly disagree.

Omg. When someone tells me I live in upstate NY, I want to crotch punch them. I can get to Manhattan faster than most people that live on Long Island. It's not upstate!
Ugh I lived with that my whole life.  sorry but Rockland and Westchester aren't upstate.  If you have a 914 or 845 area code,  you're in an NYC suburb
Haha, yeah DH is an 845 so definitely from the suburbs. He's basically given up arguing with people who insist on calling it upstate though; he just shakes his heads and silently judges them.

If you want any recommendations if you decide to try Harney and Sons, let me know! They also have it at Target and Barnes and Nobles now, which is super exciting because before I had to either order it or go to the East Coast to get it.  Sadly neither store carries my favorites though (Tower of London, Paris, and Caribe) :(

  • UPDATE: Favorite Cheese: How the heck did I forget about mozzarella di bufala?  I love when a restaurant gives you a baseball-size ball'o'cheese.  We went to Italy on our honeymoon and the first project was getting a baseball of bufala.

And, being raised near the Wisconsin border (or "Cheddar Curtain") I love me a good cheese ball. A friend of mine originally from NY and now living in FL once asked me, "What's a cheese ball? It sounds like a ball of cheese but that can't be right." Oh, honey. Ohhhh. It IS a ball of cheese, and it's magical.

@thisismynickname When I lived out west I had a Wisconsin friend there and I'd go to his apartment just to raid the cheese his mom would mail him.

Also if anyone here is unfamiliar with saganaki you need to get on that immediately. I ate it in Greece so some Greek restaurants in the states have it. It's a block of cheese that gets set on fire so the inside melts and outside is crisp and they just serve you that. Just a plate with a block of melted cheese, kind of like a giant ass mozzarella stick.

Also a 5' tall 28 year old who gets carded everywhere. I get carded to see R rated movies. You only have to be 17!!!!
I bought Call of Duty a couple of years ago at Toys R' Us and got carded.

At my mom's holiday party last weekend, her co-worker's husband asked me if I was in high school.

    I share the struggle.
@kat1114 is that a new siggy gif? Regardless: I LOVE IT. Key and Peele are such a delight.
I absolutely love Key and Peele! I don't know why, but Continental Breakfast makes me laugh hard every time I watch it.

I hadn't heard of Hoogwegt before so I googled. I don't *think* we are affiliated. My North East only cooperative was acquired in April by a national one so I don't know all the ins and outs of the new parent company. Basically we work directly with the farms to get their milk from their farm to a place where it can be made into products, like CHEESE. And ice cream. And yogurt.
