Can you swing maybe a postcard from VistaPrint? Aren't they usually crazy cheap? How many guests are we talking about here?

    Oh yeah!
    OP!
Go to vistaprint.com and sign up with them and say YES to their emails. They send nonstop free stuff. Including postcards, announcements, invites, STDs, etc. GREAT way to save money on stuff like that. I wouldn't send that in an e-mail just because you want it to be special and people often don't think twice about emails.  :P

Also, I just created a postcard at VistaPrint and you can get a 100 for $22.49.

I've been trying to find a 2nd band for my ring, and nothing matches :( So, if you can find it, I say go for it!

I personally, think that if you want to get married before your actual "wedding day" & you want to keep it a secret, go for it. It is your life. I will be in your position & we aren't telling anybody. Nobody has to know that you are already married when you have the ceremony. It's your choice as well as your spouses. Congrats on getting married! & I hope you make the right decision for you and your family no matter what anyone says.

CLEARLY you don't give a crap about your family and friends. Or your FI, for risking his career in the military.

Aren't you special? Way to start your marriage off with a lie. Did you read any of the responses that the ladies posted on here? I sincerely hope you are not getting "married" in any type of religious ceremony. As I stated before, that goes against religious/moral/beliefs. Oh, and its considered fraud in the military so you or your H (whichever is military) could actually get in major trouble in the military, so good luck with that.

GG, we ended up picking "Make me feel your love" by Adele--FI's choice actually but I do love that song! I asked him if we can have the DJ play the Eddie Vedder as the last dance or a special slow one because I'm so obsessed with it.

I think this is perfect and super cute!

About your save the dates, I just used a code on VistaPrint to get everything FREE!  I got all our save the dates for just the cost of shipping (no kidding - $6 for 50 oversized postcards, and I designed our save the dates so 3 fit on each post card, I just have to cut them).

Check out this website for deals for free on VistaPrint:  <a href="http://vistaprint-goddess.weebly.com/sample-email.html">http://vistaprint-goddess.weebly.com/sample-email.html</a>

(If you want help designing your save the dates, I'm going through withdrawal after finishing mine and would be happy to help!)

This is mine (don't worry ladies, I changed the identifying details to made-up names):

FTL - HAHAHA  wow... just... wow.  I expect that the older generation will probably have left already anyway, so this will be for your friends that want to keep partying?  Too funny!  I don't know that I'd have the guts to pull that one, but then again my grandparents will probably stay until the very last minute, so I wouldn't dare!

I do like Closing Time, though.  I was thinking Michael Buble's "Save the Last Dance for Me".

    hahahaha Thanks Calindi!
Yeah The older generation will all be gone for sure. The only people I would worry about it would be my grandparents.. all of our aunts and uncles are pretty "hip and with it" so they might be shocked if they stay that long, but they won't be offended. It's super catchy :P

That is an awesome last song. All our friends would love it.

My mom would have a heart attack.

We were going to do this but decided against it. For us it was either JOP or have the wedding we really wanted and wait until May of next year. We decided to wait until next May. I wouldnt lie to anyone about the marriage. I'd inform your guests about it first then explain about the vow renewal/party.
  • edited December 2011
I just have to say that getting legally married and then telling the military but not your friends/family does NOT, in any way, constitute fraud under the UCMJ. My husband is active duty and I'm a Reservist. Both of our commands know that we're married, and our statuses are updated according to military protocol. As long as that's done, you've satisfied your obligation. However, my family and most friends have no idea. If they ask, I'll tell them the truth. Hell, the pics are even posted on facebook. But if no one asks or notices the pictures, then no harm, no foul. And we're still having our WEDDING in the fall. But it's really wrong to tell someone that they're violating laws/regulations when they're not. The military couldn't care less if you tell anyone as long as the paperwork is done correctly. Stop misinforming people and using scare tactics to get people to conform to what you think is right.

Right, even if it isn't, you are still lying to family and friends. Shouldn't that violate your own personal ethics and morals? I'm pretty sure the military is about integrity. Where is the integrity in lying to people?

FTL can't open the link on my phone but if I had to guess it would be 'on a boat?' which is one of our 5must plays. And the dj was all 'I have a clean version!' and we said hell no. Drrty please :)
