Hi ladies!  My name is Shannon and I'm 35.  My boyfriend Matt (38) and I have been together for a little more than 3 years.  We met through the DMB (Dave Matthews Band) fan club and started chatting as friends but soon found ourselves on the phone for 2-3 hours/night!!!  I was living in AZ at the time and he in Indiana.  After 10 months of long distance dating I was able to move to Indiana and we have been living together for about 2 1/2 years now. 

Matt took me ring shopping last week and after looking at several places I picked out a beautiful Sylvie engagement ring.  He went back later and chose my stone.  Last night he made me go back with him and try on the ring "one more time" before he put the down payment down as to be sure it was "the one"!  I know it is coming but am not sure how soon.  The ring has been ordered and will take approximately 6 weeks as the ring is custom made to fit the chosen diamond.  I'm just excited and figured this was the best place for me to start posting and sharing that excitement.  

We are planning to do something small, on a beach, with close family and friends.  I've been given the go ahead to start researching locations and resorts and we will most likely get married sometime in 2012.

We have one fur baby, Tinsley.  She is a black lab/chow mix and is truely the sweetest dog EVER!  She is curled up next to me on the couch now.  I will need to get some pictures of her added to my profile.  

If any of you married ladies that still post here have suggestions of beach destinations within the continental US let me know.  I'm leaning towards a FL gulf side beach like Clearwater, Sanibel Island, something with white sand beaches preferably

I'm not allowed pets. I have two cats back home with my parents. And, as soon as I move in somewhere that allows it, I oh so very much want a german shepherd (or a mixed one, I'm all for pound pups).

Favorite Thing About Your SO: We grew up entirely different. I grew up in the suburbs of a decent sized, big university town, with paper routes that kept us from going too  many places overnight, and my parents didn't have tons of money. He grew up in a small, small town, with a lake and plenty of wooded area around. I like that, because I like that he can take me to do things that I've never done before (4wheeling, to ride jet skis, etc.). And he likes to show me new things like that too

But, I also like his eyes and his smile and of course his hugs. I like how he can hold me and I feel safe and loved and I like how, if we fight, afterwards he just holds me and rocks me or rubs my back (it sounds weird... but that seriously calms me... a lot. and he knows it. so it means he's paying attention, making an effort, and cares...).

Least Favorite Thing About Your SO: We do fight... He does some things that I don't agree with (that he says he'll grow out of) and I don't adore some of his friends. (Although, that is getting better, as I'm making an effort to be less judgmental and get to know them better.) 

Also, I'm big on needing attention I guess... I don't know if that's bad or not, but it's how I am. (Not in general, just from my SO. Otherwise, I really try to avoid attention.) And I don't always like when he isn't up to talking to me. (During the school year it's a long distance relationship.)

Hobbies/Activities: Running, getting lost, hiking, swimming, horse back riding, anything outdoors, and anything to learn more or doing anything related to travel/languages/cultures.
