Not Engaged Yet

Ask OGs questions

You can read that as Old Guard, Original Gangster or Olive Garden.  (Olive garden might not answer, fair warning)

Hey guys, I know we haven't all been around a lot, but it looks like we might be out in force tonight. So ask away!

Did you have BSC moments when you first came to NEY?

How did you suppress your BSC?

What's the best advice someone gave you back when you were NEY that you can pass on to us now?

ETA: I thought of 'Old Granny' when I saw OGs LOL -- no offense to you ladies of course, my aunt & her husband referred to his grandmother as OG so it was the 1st thing that came to mind hahahahaha

I am so in awe that you ladies are here that I can't think of a good question to ask!

So, I will ask this:  Now that you're no longer a regular poster on NEY, where do you post most frequently and why did you leave NEY?

ETA: Hetshup - are you still doing your no plastic thing (that was you, right)?  I think about it often and how I think it's pretty much impossible.

ETA: Left out words.

Engaugmint chikkin and chicken cake of course. Button the Love Baker.  There have been a lot of great threads since, but those were when I was new and I loved them so much I HAD to keep posting and getting to know people better.

SKP- Yep we are still going plastic free. It's really hard still, and I can't stop using straws. I love them.

I can aw some pics, but it might be a little more... ewwww. The house is a total fixer and we were in there cleaning and ripping up carpet. The carpet fought back and we spent some time in urgent care instead of measuring the kitchen for tile. Let me see if I have my fancy new stove in a picture.

I had a few BSC moments but I don't know that I ever actually posted about them. The big one was when I got laid off from my job DH and I talked about getting married and then having the wedding later on. We only entertained that idea for less than a day and decided it was a bad idea for so many reasons.

Being here helped to suppress my BSC. It was my go to place when I needed to get my mind off of weddings.

Enjoy your relationship as it is - once this part is gone you'll never get it back and it's not worth missing the special stuff trying to rush to the altar because you need to get married by some timeline you've given yourself.

I don't think I had an BSC posts. I'd had some BSC moments, which was why I was on TK in the first place.
How did you suppress your BSC?
It really was not hard once I realized, with the help of NEY, what i was doing and why. Recognizing you have a problem is the first step to recovery.
What's the best advice someone gave you back when you were NEY that you can pass on to us now?
I'm always giving you my OWN good advice! What other people said mostly just made me take a closer look at me, and when I figured myself out and settled down, I just shared what worked for me.

Oh. I guess maybe people don't know I'm part of the OG? In fact, I came up with that name for us.

But I'm still here, more so than pretty much anyone else I think.

What was your relationship status when you started posting?
NEY, but only for a month or so before we were engaged.  We were planning a big move and I knew we would be engaged before we moved.

What is it now (any babies?!)?
Our 2 year anniversary will be in October.  One outside the body baby, and one cooking.

What is the most memorable thread you've seen on TK?
There are too many.  I did love the one where someone told me that she hoped that I would have a monkey baby.

Did you have BSC moments when you first came to NEY?
Nope.  I started posting because there used to be a much meaner group here and I thought they were hysterical.  Most of them were NOT-NEY.  I was on TK because I was helping to plan a friend's wedding.

How did you suppress your BSC?
N/A.

What's the best advice someone gave you back when you were NEY that you can pass on to us now?
Um, I honestly didn't get any but I think I've given enough to make up for it.  We got engaged around our 1 year mark of dating, so there weren't many comments from family and friends.

Now that you're no longer a regular poster on NEY, where do you post most frequently and why did you leave NEY?
I don't post anywhere else on TK.  I do post on TB.
I left NEY because for awhile there was too much validating of crazy and I didn't care for some of the people who started posting more regularly.  It wasn't fun anymore and I was tired of hitting my head against a brickwall.  Also, I was able to keep up with my OG in other ways, so I didn't need NEY to keep up with them.  Plus I got a little busy with having a baby, remodeling a house, going back to get another degree and working.

I've met Desert, Jeana, Oceana, Rickylee, Saph, Ana, & Mutley. They are all awesome possums.

I personally got a new job and move halfway across the country, which made me a little busy bee, so I stopped hanging.  And I hate it when people rolled in with the whole "I'm a plannnnner" I hate that more than cilantro. And I hate cilantro. Trust.

Also, I just looked through all my house pictures, and they suck. Let's just say the house is resplendent in 1970s glory.

I haven't met anyone IRL, unfortunately. I wish I was that lucky.  I've pretty much dropped off the face of the internet in the last 10 months with my new jobs, so haven't been able to keep up with anyone or anything.
Posted by SKP82
I don't post anywhere other than NEY and I left because the dynamic had changed dramatically and I was becoming more and more annoyed so I decided to back away for awhile. I actually like a lot of the posters here now and have been posting more frequently lately.

I like cilantro.

Why don't you guys start talking hating on donuts or wedge sandals next?  Or mountain biking.  Or anything else I like.
