I'm going to have to say I made the same assumptions as GPG.  With the mention of Olive Garden, coupled with the horrific butchering of the English language, I also assumed OP was young.  I got the "OMG! Prom night dinner at Olive Garden!  Best. Dinner. Evar!!!" vibe from the OP. I don't think GPG  expressed this thought very well, but I doubt she was the only one who made the same connection between Olive Garden and OP's age.  (Disclaimer: I'm not hating on Olive Garden here)

OP: Please use spell check (the nice ABC button below).  Please, pretty please.  Blatant misspellings and lack of punctuation makes your post hard to read and also makes people assume you are young and uneducated.  If you make readable, mature posts, then people will respond likewise to you.

Things I learned from this thread:

1. Use spell check.

2. Don't bash on the OG.

3. Re-read your posts, and ask yourself, "Could this be interpreted by a reasonably intelligent person somehow other than how I intend?" If the answer is yes, re-word to more precisely reflect your intended meaning.

4. Pasta is the new bean dip, and I approve.

Let's all just hug it out now, yes?  Smile
Olive Garden is a nice night out for my H and I. And we had no problem affording a beautiful wedding. Keep in mind that not everyone is from a large metropolitan area with lots of options.
Posted by desertsun
Agreed. (: FI and I go to OG for most of our special occasions, or a small, but very nice, italian place nearby called Luigi's. Just because it's a franchise doesn't mean anything. There aren't many nice italian restaurants out here, and if OG is the nicest, it's what I'll settle for.

Just because you can't afford something more high class than OG doesn't mean you can't afford a wedding. Some people prefer the franchises over the ridiculous expenses of high class. Just because they're "high class" doesn't mean they're good. And, in my opinion, high class is definitely NOT worth the money. I'd rather my man take me to McDonald's. (:
Psshh. I'd rather him take me to McDonald's over OG! Haha. (:

Not meant to offend anyone, btw. Just stating my views and I'm not attacking anyone!

P.S. (back to the topic)
Congratulations! I hope you get what you want, how you want, and when you want it. :)
Good luck.

OP- If you are planning on deleting anything, I strongly recommend the post about child custody issues and possible DV. You never know who is lurking, and you don't want that used against you.

If he is going to propose, just slow your roll and enjoy this time. The anticipation is delicious and you won't get it back. Have a great time with him and if you love the OG, props to you.

The night we got engaged, we went to a German place in downtown San Antonio. It isn't fancy, but they make kickass split pea soup and homemade rootbeer. It's special to us.

Wow, I missed some fun.

OP, I hope you can be patient and let your boyfriend propose on his own time.  Don't rush and try not to be so expectant...if it doesn't happen you'll be disappointed.

And I"ve never been to an Olive Garden.

Is the "thinking they're psychiatrists" pertaining to me?  Because... I am a psychology student.  I kind of know what I'm talking about, but I never claimed to be a doctor.

PS. Psychiatrists are actually medical doctors, most have backgrounds in biology, not psychology.  Psychologist is probably the word you're looking for, seeing how no one is trying to prescribe drugs around here.

Also, OG is totally fancy for me.

I really think this poster is out of line. Your a bully. Olive Garden is NOT a cheap place to eat. Cheapest dinner is above $10.  You also said "cart before horse" because she was planning before getting officially engaged. I did this as well not anything big just lurking on the knot. You need to stop hiding behind a computer picking on people because they are not just the exact way you think they should be.

GreenPepper already apologized for that. She admitted that it was something she shouldn't have said at all. Drop it please. Her apology was enough.

Also, there's a difference between planning and lurking on the knot. Planning is given the side-eye around here.

I have only been lurking now but to answer the last poster.  We are going to dinner sun night.  He was going to propose.  He was told that my ring would be back fri, and its not back yet.  The guy could not give him any answers. Its still going to be a nice dinner, and as soon as my ring gets in it will be even more exciting.

Yeah I get that, but club boards are supposed to be the puppy and rainbow place where they don't care if you're having a cash bar or a dollar dance.  Seemed like they threw the OP to the wolves mighty fast.

And for the record, if I asked a question here about thank you cards and Jeana booted me to the gifts board I'd be hella pissed. <img src="http://cdn.cl9.vanillaforums.com/downloaded/ver1.0/content/scripts/tinymce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-surprised.gif" border="0" alt="Surprised" title="Surprised" />

I can understand that. But I can also understand that if the OP wasn't exactly a regular on the October boards, the mod would be like "wtf is this doing here?" and move it to the proper forum.

If you ask about thank you cards, maybe the proper place TECHNICALLY is the gifts board, but you're a regular on this board and would be specifically asking for insight from your friends, who know you, your personality, and something about your tastes.

If you weren't a regular, you'd look out of place.

But I see what you mean about looking like the OP was thrown to the wolves. Club boards usually seem a lot more low-key.  If she lurked there, then had all of the NEY people responding in a way she didn't expect (because she didn't lurk here), then it really would be a swift kick in the butt. However, like I said, if she's not an October board reg, I can understand the move on the mod's part.

I agree with what BlueBride says.  There are a LOT of bullies on this board.  Enough said.

Regarding the move of this thread from the October Board...I don't agree with the moderator moving it to THIS board which should be more appropriately be called a Lions Den..
