I'm an unashamed biology nerd currently working in a medical laboratory. I love travel, hiking, food, science, NPR and dachshunds.

And your FI. 
He's a fellow science nerd & traveler who recently finished his term of service in the military. He's a culinary bad*$$ who is brewing 4 different kinds of beer for our wedding reception.

And how you met. 
MySpace. He messaged me first ("Science geeks who love hiking, hooray!"). However, my mother, who is about 3 steps ahead of the Amish and does not use a computer or the internet, doesn't know this yet. I might just let the best man inform her during his toast. I'm sure the look on her face will be priceless.
We got engaged on Feb 12, 2010.

And when your wedding is.
October 31, 2010. No, we're not doing anything Halloween or autumn-themed. No, we're not Wiccan. No, we're not doing a costume party.
I'm Lutheran, and back on October 31,1517 this German dude named Martin Luther wasn't cool with some goings-on in the Catholic church, and posted a list of 95 things that were not groovy and needed to be fixed. We feel it's an appropriate day for us to stand together and say our vows.
Also, my grandfather is in extremely poor health, and we wanted to get married sooner rather than later because of that. Dates in cooler weather book way in advance in AZ, and we took what we could get.

Who's your favorite?  Who do you wish we'd fly to whore island?
I've only been lurking for a couple weeks on this board, but I'll do my best to do this question justice:
aprovencher21 is my automatic favorite because she has a dapple dachshund in her sig pic and I'm jealous.
I'm a fan of Meaghan, her wedding hair looks great and she wears pearls. I've always thought pearls = classy.
Nebb, cew and Laurenclaire138 are pretty sharp and call it like it is and I respect that.
I will give a shoutout to banana on Invites, a lot of her posts have been pretty useful for me.
LesPaul, my FI likes your cheddar cat pic.
RachnRich's crinoline is pretty rockin'.
Roxy's sig cracks me up.

As an aside: someone on this board (can't remember her name, sorry) has a sig pic with a plant in it that reads "Oh, that's my wish plant. It's for people I wish to die." Or something like that. The first time I read that, I inhaled a Dark 'n' Stormy up my sinuses and nearly choked to death laughing. It took me a nearly 5 minutes to become coherent again, and the only thing I could gasp out to my FI as to why I was laughing so hard was "wish plant - DEATH!" So whoever you are, lady, thank you for causing that moment of sheer grace and classiness for me.

First aboard the plane for whore island? Please, send the folks who write posts that read like a teenager's text messages. They make my brain bleed.

And that Starry girl that Cupcake referred to - if she's referring to the poster that I think she is, yeah, there were so many inconsistencies in her story that it made me wonder if she's a pathological liar or something. Way weird.

I love these lurker threads so much. But they also kind of make me sad because it seems like I never see half of these people ever again. I hope these lurkers stick around.

I've only lurked for a few days! I'm Lorraine. My fiance is Andrew. We met in high school...we would never, ever have dated. He wore a black trenchcoat and my friends and I used to pick on him saying if anyone was going to blow up the school it would be him (this was right after Columbine). If anyone had told me I'd be marrying that guy, would have laughed in their face.

But we met at a party a few years after high school, and he's amazing! My best friend.

We haven't set a date yet, and I don't like or dislike anyone yet. That'll change very shortly.
