To add: they should have been fired. Also, I had some crazy parents and I always wondered if they'd send their kid with a wire. I obviously didn't say shut up or yell at them but they didn't believe that I would announce a test was coming up if their kid didn't do well. I always thought they'd wire their kids to try to catch me. Haha.

Trying to fire a teacher in NJ would probably be like trying to fire a teacher here.  The unions there are really powerful.  Im not shocked they are not fired.

I have dreams of being able to run again, I so want to do a warrior dash, or mud run type event.  The funnest event I have trained for was a 1/2 tri, it was a blast to complete. 

I have been working very hard to build my knee back up since the surgery in November, but I am no where near ready.  I am pretty sure I have gained gills with all of the swimming I have been doing.

Sure it's taxing but all the special Ed teachers I know live for those kids so it's hard for me to I imagine it being so taxing someone would treat a kid like shiit.

Even my least favorite student of all time, who was the hardest kid to have and parents too, never made me want to yell.

Thanks! It's the day after my best friend's wedding though, so I don't anticipate being in any shape to run a marathon, haha. Plus, July is hot as shiit here usually, probably not ideal marathon conditions.

Blue- our art teacher was crazy. She told my non English speaking student she wasn't allowed to write because she didn't know English and she wasn't allowed to write in Spanish. This girl knew like 5 words on English. The art teacher also would take kids in the hall and yell at them with her finger in their faces. (third graders). My principal had to document everything for over a year. She still hasn't been able to fire her. And this is in a state with no teaching unions. It's crazy.

My cousin's daughter has down syndrome. I babysit her pretty frequently and I can't even imagine calling her a bastard. She is the sweetest most loving human being I've ever met. I love that girl more than I can even express.

My mom taught ESE for more than 10 years and it exhausted her. Her students all loved her, but it's taxing on the teacher. Especially when the parents get involved, since a lot of them were pretty awful people (for her, not overall). But that's no excuse to treat any student like that.

I have always just thought that teachers should be given more of an opportunity to not get tired and stuck in a rut.  Like maybe rotate grades or schools every few years to keep things fresh?  Maybe 5 years in elementary, then go to HS then head over to middle school?  I just think that 30 years in the same school teaching the same thing over and over is going to make anyone lose interest.

Honestly, I don't think there should be a scale system in schools. It lets shiity teachers coast because they move up on the scale no matter what. Not to sound self involved but I was a damn good teacher and I worked hard but there were no opportunities to move up or to be promoted. The art teacher made thousands of dollars more than me and showed up 5 minutes before school, wore sweat pants, left 5 minutes after school and made kids cry daily. If there were more opportunities to be recognized then teachers really wouldn't get too burnt out and the good teachers would shine and then principals could say see ya to the shiity teachers. I also don't agree with tenure and it wouldn't be needed if there were no salary scale.
