There is no freaking room on the floor of the lav, and the floor is usually covered in piss from the effing adults that can't hit the toilet. At least my kid keeps his in the diaper.

  • But the plastic pad protects from wetness, no? Isn't that how the seat doesn't get wet when you use one there? You can't have it both ways.
  • In all of the flights I've been on in my life, including several 7 straight hours, I cannot recall one baby or child that acted worse than other people around me who annoyed me for other reasons. Like being too fat and only ordering one seat, talking to me and not realizing that they should shut up, kicking my seat, snoring, etc. I agree with steph. People are effing annoying regardless of age. It is what it is.

Just because something is covered in shiiit and piss doesn't mean I'd leap at the chance to just lay down a plastic pad over top of it to change my kid, lol.  Would you lay on a wet piss covered floor if you had a yoga mat?  HA

Daff- do you have kids or are you just being a douche with no basis for your opinion?

For the record- I don't have kids but I would NEVER expect a parent to squat in those tiny areas and somehow lay their child on the floor of an airplane lav. It sound DANGEROUS for one, physically impossible, and dirty. Yes there are changing pads but if they are not disposable but get soaked on the floor, what can the parent do?

In a perfect world, there will be a changing table on the wall of the lav. However, this world isn't perfect. Perhaps you missed that memo?

further- I don't think you are a douche for your opinions. I think you are acting like one because you are stating them as broad over generalizations of all parents... and frankly- you are just rude.

The seat isn't dripping wet in a stranger's piss. Oh, and the lovely blood clot that was on the floor on my last flight.

ETA - maybe the towel method chick used the lav before me.

I can't think of an opportunity I'd have to do that. It still doesn't change the fact that either a changing pad: 1) works and is ok to use anywhere in the lav, or 2) doesn't work and isn't ok to use on a seat.

As far as room - how is there more room in the seating area of an overbooked flight? Either way, I still maintain my previous statement: if you can't figure it out, keep them home.

But you are right, when my sister gets married in Seattle, her only sibling should probably stay at home.

For one- your statement that if they can't figure out changing in a way that doesn't offend your delicate sense, their child should stay home. There are a lot of reasons parents fly with kids- it's ridiculous for you to say if it's not perfect, don't do it.

And for the record- of course I would be grossed out to see a dirty diaper being changed next to me. I would probably be annoyed. But I am not ignorant enough to tell parents you can't do that. Want to know why? I can't imagine the choices I will have to make as a parent. I accept that sometimes- it's not going to be the popular choice.

That's not a generalization of all parents. (???) And my sensibilities aren't that delicate. If you think not wanting a seating/eating area turned into a toilet is delicate, you must have a constitution made of steel.

Actually, I'm just a reasonable person. Who rightly thinks it's a disgusting thing to do.

You find it reasonable  to demand parents don't bring their children on planes? If you have such an issue with the amenities, maybe you should complain to the airlines who don't provide facilities instead of hating on parents doing the best they can.

lol, I can't demand anyone do anything. I expressed my opinion of what I think is the right thing to do.

I do think the airlines should provide changing tables in all facilities. Although I have never personally seen one without. And thankfully, I've never seen a diaper changed on the seats in person, either, I've only read about it on the internets, so I can be outraged at the idea in the comfort of my diaperless surroundings.

I think this will be something that H and I disagree on a bit.

I never travelled with my family farther than like 3 hours (by car, once a year) as a kid. H flew tons with his family growing up. Going on flights now I couldn't imagine flying with smaller children. It would be such a PITA. I'm not against other people doing it, though I hate the crying children, but that's their right and I'm fine with it. I don't know if I'd want to do it with an infant/toddler.

I'd like to wait to fly with kids until they are "old enough"..maybe like 5? I probably won't travel by plane until futurekids are old enough to be left with our parents. I think H will be more willing to travel with little kids.
