Engaged 7/27/13, no date set yet. The stone is actually moissanite with diamonds in the band. We picked it out together and I couldn't be happier with it. It's just perfect.
@Angela_294 Thank you! It is from Markham Jewelers in Frisco, Tx. 2.10 carat center stone on a platinum Parade Hera band. I love the uniqueness of the band, and the diamond takes my breath away every time I look at it (which is all the time!!).
Engaged August 1st, 2013!! He flew out to Paris, where I was on vacation with 3 of my girlfriends, surprised me on the Pont des Arts (The Love Bridge) and proposed!! Hoping for an October 2014 wedding date.
He proposed on the one year anniversary of our first date. He has been planning for months and both of our families knew the whole time. We got engaged on 8-17-2013
So this is the Claddagh ring that FI initially used for my proposal (my diamond one is on its way, but there were apparently some delays in getting it shipped and FI didn't want to wait any longer to ask me). I almost feel like he did it on purpose, because he knew that I have wanted a Claddagh for years (Irish heritage, plus I love the symbolism behind the ring). He plans on proposing again (with the elaborate proposal he's been scheming for over a year) when the diamond ring finally arrives, though the "YES!!" I give him should come as no surprise at that point.
Here's the Claddagh he used for the first proposal, and when the diamond ring shows up, I'll update with a picture of that one too;

Congratulations!! I love claddagh rings (my partner is Irish and got me one for my birthday). I was looking forward to wearing it as an engagement ring, but we decided on a new one instead.
We've been engaged for two weeks and I've been caught staring at my ring a trillion times already! We went shopping together and both liked the simple elegance of a solitaire on a thin, delicate band. My ring is a 1.61 carat round brilliant diamond on a 1.5 mm band. It is exactly what I wanted; he did an amazing job!
Hi everyone! I've been lurking for a week or so and finally couldn't resist sharing my ring. Just engaged last week and I couldn't love the ring he picked out more! All of yours are so beautiful and unique. Such an exciting time! Congrats to everyone!
Hi!!! I'm just over here from NEY (but engaged 2 weeks ago!) and finally got my ring back from the jeweler.. it's an heirloom ring from FI's grandmother's sister, needed lots of TLC, sapphire polished, yellow gold band changed to white gold, and custom wedding band made. The top pic is the original, bottoms are the new ones:
