Thanks, Fischey! It was perfect. Of course, it was on my mind, but I seriously thought I was going to fall apart and not even be able to make it down the aisle, through my vows, etc. and everything was just fine. <img src="http://cdn.cl9.vanillaforums.com/downloaded/ver1.0/content/scripts/tinymce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-smile.gif" border="0" alt="Smile" title="Smile" />

Shoot.  My mom tells me all the time that she was about my weight until she had kids.  Now she's a size 24.  Um, no thanks.

  • I don't judge you, Salt.  I've had those feelings too.

On the flip side, I've gained some weight since I lost my job and part of me wants to be pregnant to excuse this weight gain.
  • :(  Everyone being scared of being fat makes me feel even worse for actually being fat.

  • Kiki, I thoroughly believe that no matter what weight people are, they always think they should lose weight.

It takes a pretty darn special person to be totally ok with who they are and what they look like.

Also, I don't judge other people's sizes or even bat an eyelash at it. I really don't. I just judge my own.

Agreed.  I used to be anorexic and bulemic too, so please don't let my issues make you feel bad about yourself, Kiki.

Me losing my job + gaining weight makes me feel like a failure.
  • But Money. IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII think you're wonderful, and that's more important than any stinking job or a few cookies here and there.

You can go back to feeling successful now.

  • I agree with Fischey completely.  A few years ago I was a size 2, and thought I needed to gain weight.  When I gained weight, I felt really uncomfortable. Now, I'm up to a size 8/10 and I feel horrible.  Not much you can do about it Kik's

I rarely post on these, but my KPP is that when I was 15 I had plastic surgery, and I would not change it for the world.  Little girls I babysat for used to say I looked like a witch.  The NJ gave me the confidence I needed to actually be myself and not hide away because I thought I was ugly.
  • Hey Parker! I'm glad you're happy with your decision!

I always feel horrible when young kids hate the way they look. They things they hate the most when they're kids are the things that make them beautiful and unique as adults.

But I know that isn't the case for everyone, and if you've gotten some self confidence out of that, then more power to you!

  • Like politics and religion, for me, weight is a topic that is off limits. You know, unless it's a support group for people dealing with/recoving from body dismorphic disorders.

  • Thanks, ladies.  I definitely am not happy with the weight I am now.  I have gained so much weight since I started dating H- we go out to eat way too much and exercise way too little.  I'm working on it.

  • Kiki, I gained THIRTY FIVE POUNDS after meeting Scott. THIRTY FIVE. Yeesh.

We liked wine and steaks and desserts, apparently. A little too much.

Thanks Fische!  You're probably right about the things that I hated the most would have made me unique, and I think I still have a unique look to me, but when I was at the point in high school where I felt so self conscious that I didn't feel comfortable enough to speak my mind in class or talk to boys because I felt like they'd look at me and judge me, I had to do something about it.  I actually think it was a pretty mature thing to do.  And, I just realized that I met FI a year after having the surgery, and would NEVER have had the confidence to tell him that I liked him (yes I was that girl) if I hadn't had my nose done.

Also, I agree with Salt about being afraid of getting fat after being preg, and Amoro about her mom saying it happened to her (my mom and I have the same body type and she has struggled with weight ever since having us kids), and with whoever said that no matter what size you are you always want to be skinnier.

There have been some secrets I really wish I knew who sent them because I want to talk to the person and tell them how much I relate, including one sent in not too long ago.   It's helpful for me to know I'm not alone, but I also wish I was able to talk to the person who understands what I'm going through.

  • And THAT'S what I've been trying to focus on Nova.  Men don't like bony women, and I just want to be healthy.  I know that I'm NOT healthy though, and that's what bothers me.
  • I've gained about 40 pounds in the past two years, and one of the reasons I haven't started wedding dress shopping yet is because I still want to believe I'll be able to get rid of it before I buy a dress. It makes me pretty miserable most of the time.

I used to be really against plastic surgery until I was in a car accident in 2006.  I had surgery on my right cheekbone to correct the scarring from going through a window.  Before that day, although I would have thought about plastic surgery, I would never have actually done it.  But having people constantly staring at my face for the four months after the accident that it took to schedule the surgery was enough incentive for me.

It's been five years, and even though NOBODY ever notices the remaining scars, I still wonder if I'll be able to see them in my wedding pictures.  And I hate myself for still being so hypersensitive about them.
