Really Giselle??? REALLY??

Re: Really Giselle??? REALLY??

  • I agree, Mery. I'll certainly try to BF, and hopefully succeed, but I won't be telling my 19 year old sister who has no plans to even try what to do. Not my buh-zooms and not my business.
  • I'm not a mom, but know many who's children refused to breastfeed. She had the milk but the child refused to latch, after very many attempts at home and at the hospital. She also attended a lot of classes and tried everything the doctors told her to get the child to accept the breast. The baby also refused the breast milk in a bottle. She got a lot of shiit for not being able to breast feed and had to go therapy because people kept saying she was a bad mom for "not trying harder".

I agree with the sentiment, but it's not that easy in a real life situation.

<div>Sounds like it sucked for you. Just because you obviously had a bad/inconvenient time of it doesn't mean that everyone does. </div>

[QUOTE]Many woman who "cant" just didnt honestly try hard enough.  Of course if you CANT- like literally, truly, honestly can not - then there's nothing you can do. But I had one of the hardest experiences I've ever heard of and I managed to breastfeed til my daughter was 7 months old. I think most American woman just dont want to be inconvenienced.

are you bored? or do you really think this?
  • I've seen plenty of women who just breastfeed in public.  They didn't have a problem whipping out their boob.  They don't have to find a special place.

  • Dani, my friend also had a breast reduction and was told she cannot do it.

  • Well I didnt breast feed and knew I wasnt going to before I even had my son. I also was a single mother who had to go back to work directly after giving birth.

My son is almost 20, and he has never really been sick a day in his life. So were back to whats best for each woman.

Ditto that for my bff.  She used those cover up things and she'd breastfeed anywhere and everywhere.  She's also a very open person.

Now I have another friend who felt like she had to find a special or private place all the time due to her modesty and religious stuff, and that was really hard for her, so she stopped early on.

So my point again, every woman is different and every situation can't be judged the same.

How can you so confidently "guarantee" what someone else's mother would say? Just because you experienced something one way doesn't make it the only way.

but, she backpedaled her little ass off and said she doesn't think it should be a law. and backpedaling is much more labor intensive than sticking to your guns. trust me, I'm a backpedaling consultant.
  • I swear to God if someone utters the word mastitis in here, I'm leaving and never coming back. Let's talk about something else!!
  • Are employers really dumb enough to make it difficult for a lactating mother to pump at work? Sounds like a big old HR issue followed by a massive law suit. I know where my fiance and I both work there are designated areas for people who do not have their own offices with doors ... his company even has a "mommy" room for it .... when he first started working there he came home as asked me what it was for. I just had to laugh.
  • I'd like to know how Giselle intends to enforce these boob laws. Monthly milk checks?

no, just say something that makes sense. if you're going to make a bold statement like "american women are lazy and bad mothers" then have some kind of proof or stats or something.
