button -- i think the board usually bands together and says so-and-so should email TK gods to become mod. Or so-and-so does it on their own initiative. I dunno, Steph asked me to become mod of our local since she didn't want to do it and she didnt want it to be totally puppies and rainbows after she was done lol.
